The difference between farmers and other Midwesterners is sometimes glaring.. . "Where I come from" ( and partly when.. but I'm also only 44), mowing the lawn is women and children's work. Heck, so is some fieldwork such as raking hay. It caused quite a stir among us kids the 1st time I remember seeing my Dad on our riding mower ( and that was like a one-off, prob. testing it after a fix).
As a gay guy, if I was so fortunate to have a guy, I’d make a note of his favourite sports team in my calendar so I know not to plan things that involve him on those days. Second, I’d have our beer/booze fridge stocked with his favourite drink and snacks on hand. If it’s a big game, he gets nachoes.
I did all this for a (now ex) fiance. The problem: he watched all sports, so every weekend, & a lot of weeknights were spent watching others play sports. He also expected me to wait on him (and sometimes his friends) hand and foot. Plus, he never paid me back for all the food and drinks. I kicked him to the curb at the start of March Madness.
@@NeversurrenderMM66exactly. Guys watch all the games even when their team isn't playing. It's an excuse to drink, eat and socialize. Which isn't a problem, till it's a problem.
My “man cave” garage is not mine, there’s still holiday boxes, kids toys, stuff in it and every part of our house is shared. But my shop is mine, I’m the only one with the key and pay the rent. I compromise in our marriage!
I call my wife the old plow horse. She loves it 😆 Also, I’m an Iowegian, but have a friend from Pewaukee, and I heard said friend refer to Illinoians as FISH- f*€king Illinois sh!t head is what it meant. I was wondering if that was something common? All I was familiar with was FIB.
Miles I know this isn't related to the video. But on your bellied up podcast, I notice you guys don't say a lot about Michigan. Or in any videos really. But yet we're part of the Midwest too. Shoot me and everybody I hangout with, we all like Busch light, cheese curds and everything else Midwest. And we all hunt and fish a lot. It actually makes biological sense for the wife to control how the house is arranged and decorated. It's called "nesting" and it's an actual instinctual need, similar to how a guy needs to feel useful.

Illinois sucks. Im just south of the Wisconsin/Illinois border and you can tell people get sh!773r as you work your way towards Chicago. We’re not all crap but most are. As a FIB though, I must say, get out of the passing lane. Looking at you too Minnesota. South and North Dakota dont matter. Nobody is on the interstate out there. I love it. Sorry, driving around Chicago made us crazy.
Be honest, YB. You say Illinois people, but you really mean Chicago and Rockford people. Toss Joliet and Springfield in there if you need more. The rest of us are decent midwesterners.
Let's see... I call my husband "My Hero" and he calls me his heroine (he makes it sound like the drug, not a woman who swoops in to save the day. I ain't mad). 😂. He has the study and the media room. I have all the others except for the great room, which is neutral ground. One other basement room has Christmas stuff but also has his workbench. We'll call that shared space. No one wants the garage, but his snowblower and the electric wood splitter ARE taking up space next to my deep freezer, so we'll call that a draw. 😊

As another gay guy, I’d divide the home equally and whoever has better or more efficient use of the space gets it. Eg, I work from home and make more $$$ so I get the spare bedroom as my office. If they’re the cook, they get free rein of the kitchen and I clean up after them.
Right? I don't like the Illinois hate, cause we (below i80) are just as wholesome as most Midwesterners . But I get it, they're used to the Chicagoland aholes. Plus, Charlie is funny. He gets a pass.
Midwest...still says "Packers"...because even non-Packer fans watch Packer games. Jokes aside - putting the clothes and lunches out the night before is a big win. Doing any housework is, too.

I don’t get the hate for Illinois. Chicago and Rockford, sure. But the rest of the tiny little farming towns which dot the entire state? We’re Midwestern as can be!
