They were using the wrong bags, should take fjm. The upholstery tool is not original as you pointed out. Using two exhaust filters never helps the motor health also they fitted a post filter in the pre slot which will just strain the motor. Can’t wait to see it again.
Nice Miele there, Roger. The American version of this would have been the Silver Moon. That model would have had the double stage Miele-made motor, & the next model with identical features, the Red Velvet, introduced in 2004, saw the introduction of the Miele-made Vortex single stage motor they presently use. Your Revolution 500 looks like it was well cared for, with relatively normal wear & tear. I used to own a 2004 Red Velvet with the SEB236 powerhead, & it was a pretty good machine. I didn't particularly care for the stiff hose though, & wish the brush in the powerhead was a bit more aggressive. One thing you should beware of though with these cleaners is the hose - that particular hose with the variable speed controls on the handle was prone to failure. You would run the vacuum & it would power down to the lowest speed or shut off completely & you would have to use the buttons to get it to full power again. The fix is taking the hose handle off the hose & cleaning the brass contacts. Personally, I think the S500/S600 series & S5 series were the finest Miele canisters made, the S8/C3 series are nice but definitely not the same quality as before. On another note - the 4D Smell Protect bags - it's a shame they discontinued those so quick. I was hoping to try them out! :(
We had one of these for many many years(The entire noughties into the 2010's at least), The lady that had it before us said it worked too well and filled the bag up too quickly so she gave it to us. Always used the blue hepa filters and genuine bags with it, Longest lived vacuum my folks have ever had, The sound brings back a lot of memories.
I noticed what is suppose to be a post-motor filter was installed in stead of the more coarse pre-motor filter. That together with the double filters on top should make for a pretty suffocated motor
I have the S758 revolution. A silver 2000 watt model. Quality machine but the hose is too short. It was retired after I got my S8 cat and dog which is replaced by a C3 total solution.
I still have the Revolution 1500, which still works, but I did do clean it up inside and serviced the vario hand control system to contact clean the electrical contact rings. Over 20 years old now, but it still works very well.
You should not use the Vacuum with the power cord still wound inside. It creases a Heating Element and runs the risk of melting the cable. As a safety feature the vacuum does have an overheat cut-out to cut off the power if it gets too hot. Not worth running the risk of a possible fire though. The Auto Reverse is actually to allow the total rewind without having to keep the rewind button held down. On the hose front Miele brought out the 125-3 hose which no longer allows the handle to swivel. It stops the power cut-out problem that the swivel handle hoses are prone to. For Info I have 4 of these style Revolution Vacuums. 1x 758, 1 x 2000 and two 500's. Both some 217 heads and a couple of 236's. The Best Vacuums I've ever had.
I received the same parquet floor brush with my Pure Suction along with a metal based combined tool. I added a Parquet Twister, turbo rug tool and a Sub 20 universal dusting brush so now I use the standard parquet tool as my wall brush since it has no wheels.
Hi Roger I've been watching since I was like 4, I still watch now, and the soft bristles are wearing away on my dyson small ball, should i replace?????
Looks a well made vacuum I bought my self a sebo Felix Rossi in December must be one of the worst vacuum cleaners I have ever bought it smells have tried air freshener new charcoal filter new bags as I live with my mum she says either the vacuum goes or me can any one suggest a cure for the problem sebo customer service was not helpful I have no pets and new carpets will keep watching you roger for a decent vacuum
