Miele S5311 Vacuum Cleaner Basic Maintenance - Simple Clear Steps to help you 

Hi! I have a Miele S8 Homecare. I bought it just under two years ago. I loved my Miele up until about two weeks ago. I inserted the Miele brand bag. It fit firmly in and clicked with ease, as usual. I vacuumed my house and went to vacuum my car the same day. Because I did more vacuuming than usual, I wanted to check the bag compartment to make sure the filter was still clean/fur free. I usually never let the bag get really full because I have allergies and I want the vacuum to run efficiently. But not only was the bag not full, most of what I vacuumed that day was in the dust bin compartment instead of the bag. The dust bin filter was clogged with hair and debris. I immediately research the problem in the manual and saw no advice. So, I cleaned the vacuum, I replaced the bag, thinking it may have been defective, and I replaced the filters. I tested a small rug in my kitchen that my cat often lays on. So, it had some dirt and fur but nothing that would clog the machine. I passed over the rug about 2-3 times, focusing on where my cats hair was. I opened the bag again, and dirt and fur were on top of the new bag and in the compartment with hair poking out the flap on the bag. I feel the flap isn't opening? But I am unsure why. Alec, great tips on Miele maintenance! Just a little tip of my own to share....If you do use generic bags, make sure you buy bags with the PLASTIC collars, not cardboard. In all my years of owning a Miele, I found that once you switch to bags with plastic collars, you don't have the problem of dirt collecting in the bag chamber & the pre-motor filter stays much cleaner.

If I get one in for a repair I will certainly do it.
