I'm 49 years old and I am so lucky to still have my Mighty Casey train along with it's box car and gondola and all of its tracks. It's still runs and four years ago I brought it out when my in-laws came over for the 4th of July and enjoyed watching my niece and nephews ride it and bringing back the memories when I was their age riding it! I am so glad that I was able to save it and keep it in operational shape.

I lost mine when my parents had another child. But it's nice to know that you have yours.

I'm 51 & had one as well, Roger - to this day I'm certain that this was the best gift ever! I hounded my parents non-stop & got my wish. It was around $100 which was huge money back then...so much so that my grandfather kicked in the finances. Great memories!

I had one of these in the basement of our house during kindergarten. I would come home for lunch. My mom would hand me a brown paper bag with 2 balogna sandwiches & I'd rush downstairs to eat while riding the train. It was the greatest!

This is wonderful. Not sure if this was Super8mm Sound, or more likely, some sort of synched 16mm. Not only is it technically well done, exposed well and the sound is not that bad, but the layout and work was just wonderful. I bought a Peg Perego for my son when I was tired of waiting to gather bits and pieces of the Mighty Casey. He loved it quite a bit. I have a huge master bedroom with wood floor and I would set it up for him and let him ride it all over!

What a great video, and a great toy! Anyone who could design and 3-d print some switches for these could make a MINT selling them, since they've never been made available. My folks bought me a full set when I was 6 or 7 and it made me a railroad fan for life. 40 years later I just HAD to snap up some locos, rolling stock and track pieces on eBay. It wasn't cheap -- and for that matter it was an expensive toy back in 1970! -- but it was SO worth it.

I have one of the switch molds Remco made in mint condition. I plan on making copies of them to sell eventually.

@@dmarqu11 I didn't know they EVER made switch molds. All they'd need to do is overlay a curve onto a straight piece, make the right cuts for the frogs, put in a simple switching mechanism and bingo.

@@PaulCashman Google:"O Gauge Forum" and then search for the topic"Mighty Casey Turns 50". There is a photo of a near-mint Remco right hand switch mold that I now own. I hope to find a 3D printer who can make copies of them to sell to interested Mighty Casey owners.

I'm so jealous of that kid! I've always been a fan of trains and when I was little, I wanted one of those Mighty Casey sets in the worst way. I begged my parents for one, but when Christmas day arrived, there was a note on the tree claiming to be from Santa, saying that "he" was sorry, but it was just too expensive. I even remember us going to Woolworths and them having a whole MC passenger train on display. Anyway, does this qualify as the world's first unboxing video? :)

@Mason Carrasquillo Besides the cost, I'm much too big to ride one now and I don't have any kids or grandkids to enjoy it. I would have loved to have it when I was little, but now I have no real use for it. I used to have a ride-on toy shaped like one of those locomotives, but with regular wheels. It was black and white with a cover on the top hiding a small compartment. I loved it and was heartbroken when one of the wheels broke. My parents couldn't find another one to replace it.
