Mighty Mini battles giant Camaro, Capri and Scirocco at Goodwood |  

Now this. This is racing.

I cannot even begin to explain how much more entertaining and heart pounding this kind of racing is compared to anything I see on television. Different cars with different strengths and weaknesses, all driven by guys who know how to drive a car. I'll take this over nascar, IndyCar or an F1 race. And some of these vintage cars they race at Goodwood are worth more than a nascar!

As an American I love the big muscle but as a race fan I love watching the smaller cars give the big burly machines a literal run for their money,that's quality entertainment right there!

Came here for the Mini but boy do I like that Capri! It's almost like a a sleeper racing car with its subdued and civilized looks. No wings, no spoilers, no flared wheelarches. This would be you average Capri in the pub's parking on a Friday night in 1976 yet still that thing is seriously fast round here. 👍

This was fun to watch. My dad did a little racing in Minis in the early 60s in southern Ontario (Canada) and would talk about seeing match-ups like this where the muscle cars had the speed in the straights and the Minis had the tight cornering at speed. With a course fairly balanced between straightaways and corners, it usually made for an entertaining watch and usually came down to which driver made the first significant error.

Brilliant! Guess who had the most fun driving - you can't beat a proper Mini for sheer enjoyment.

I've owned like 7 Scirocco's in the past. This clip just reminds me how fun they were!

Back in the '70s, I watched two minis overtake a Jaguar XKE and a 427 Corvette at Seattle International Raceway, (now Pacific Raceway). The Jag and 'Vette held there own on the long front straight, but the Minis ate them up on the rest of the course. But nobody could catch Bob Sharp's Datsun (another small four cylinder) that day.

This makes me smiles from ear to ear, reving the everliving daylights out of that tiny 1.3 Mini Engine

All those multi million pound F1 cars with unbelievable technology, the FIA coming up with ways to make the racing closer and this still puts it to shame all day every day.

Many a Camaro, Mustang, Chev Nova. Ford Falcon GT and Holden Monaro GTS350 came to grief when stacked up against some of the Morris Ccoper S's we had in Australia in the late 60's. Especially on the tighter circuits such as Oran Park, Warwick Farm.. They filled the first nine places in the 1966 Bathurst race.

Wow that is some of the best motor racing I have ever seen! They were absolutely pushing those cars and I love it, because there was no damage no crashes but seat of your pants racing. Looks like a great track too. I love seeing the old classics raced but without any damage to them. Great video cheers.

The Mini was pretty fast around the tighter turns. The Camaro had the perfect combination of straight-line speed and cornering.

Whomever is piloting that Mini is an absolute master wheelman and tactician. Instinctively, they know they have the equipment and skill to repeatedly close on the Camaro. But then they show their true genius and skill…watch how the MINI hunts a different line than the Camaro leading up to the pass. Different car with different dynamics and physics so…it can brake differently, cut a different arc and accelerate off differently. All of this helps them know precisely how they’re going to overtake that Detroit boat anchor. If your opponent in front is using the optimum line, you cannot ALSO use the optimum line to pass them. You have to find an alternate line to get AROUND them as two cars cannot occupy the same space at the same time. The mighty Mini…the mighty, mighty Mini.

American here, but as much as I Love The Chevy, I was rooting in my heart for the plucky lil Britt, I’m of Scottish heritage so I alway pull for the underdog😟

I had a chance to ice race a mini, such a fun, neutral handling car, so nimble!

Tiny fours screaming along side you’ve got American v8’s roaring….. the Ford Capri, the Chevy Camaro, the VW Scirocco, and the MINI….. yeah awesome race.

Hilarious how you call Capris and Cameros "giants". Yes, the Mini is a very small car with a similar power to weight ratio and handling as the others you're racing with. If you want to race small cars, try go-karts sometime.

All I saw is a battle between a Ford and a Chevy... you really should stop the glorification of MINI, I know it's British and all and therefore you're partial to it, but it's really annoying, because if MINI weren't so light, it would have absolutely nothing else going for it. And of course the Camaro mopped the race track with the competition, no surprise there...
