Wow the japanese fight is so much more intense.

Holy crap, the fight scene in the Japanese version is so much more brutal; they actually look like they're trying to beat each other to a pulp!

This is the scene, with a giant robot T-rex battling a giant robot dragon while metal music rocks in the background, that I fell in love with Power Rangers, and Sentai as a whole.

The OG RED vs GREEN ranger is all we ever wanted!

I've forgotten how great the fights were in the older sentai seasons and this reminded me that this was a kickass season.

I like the Japanese version better but the dagger sounds better in American version

I find that the Japanese version is more violent than the US version , which isn't a bad thing. Plus Super Sentai uses words like Murder, kill, damn, hell...something the US MMPR version completely avoided back then. I like the Japanese version more to a certain extend because of the storyline behind why Geki and Burai and at battle, and mind you I grew up on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers here in the US. It's almost like a breath of fresh air.

Something this comparison is missing is how the Sword of Evil equivalent is destroyed and why Jason doing it looked rather cobbled together when you really look at it. Geki doesn't magically know how to vaporize the sword like Jason does. In fact, Burai isn't even brainwashed at all, simply manipulated into fighting his brother that he's long hated already. The Megazord (Daizyujin) actually talks to Geki after defeating the Dragonzord/Dragon Caesar, and...more surprisingly that Zords occasionally actually speak in the Sentai, *tell him to kill his now-defenseless brother.* Anyway, Geki refuses because of their blood, and when Burai tries to take advantage of it, he can't even bring himself to do the same with Geki's back willingly turned to him goading him into it. Neither of them are willing to kill the other, and it's that bond that causes the Sword of Evil to crumble into dust. tl;dr: Jason got to skip the character development moment between the two because they're not a family rooted in tragedy. Even more ironic, Tommy later *does* have a brother who he's basically best friends with after sharing his Native American heritage with him.

Damn, the Japanese version is crazy good.

Giant mechanical dragon vs giant mechanical dinasours fuzed into a humanoid super fighting Robot? This is peak sci-fi.

I feel like my childhood was just a big lie now

I can't believe I am saying this about a 5-parter, but the Green With Evil story REALLY needed a 6th part. The first 4 episodes were intense, with everything falling apart, Jason being trapped and nearly killed etc. The american team were doing a GREAT job... until the 5th episode, where everything was rushed, and Tommy joined them WAY too fast. There should have been an episode of Tommy feeling guilty about what he had done and refusing to help the team... In fact, THAT is how they should have adapted all the DragonRanger episodes. They barely had any footage to use anyway, so they could have made Tommy a solo-Ranger that would help from tme to time, and finally making up for the things he did by saving the team and losing his powers in the process... Sadly the creators never did that. But it would have been an amazing way to adapt the Burai story, while still keeping it light.

I love the plot of this arc in Zyuranger because Burai wasn't under an evil spell like Tommy was, in fact Burai hated the Witch Bandora just as much as he hated the Rangers... He sought to rule the world because he had been raised by his adopted father to believe that his throne had been stolen by his brother Geki, and then when Geki's father killed Burai's adopted father, Burai's heart became filled with hatred and he wanted revenge for the death of his father and against Geki for "stealing his rightful throne"

I love how the area Jason and Tommy fight in suddenly turns from rocky to sandy.

What I like about the ZyuRanger version is that Burai is a rogue free agent during his evil rampage, not a servant of Bandora, he fought Griffozor and Lamie just as readily as he fought the ZyuRangers and the "sword of darkness" just made its wielder insane as we clearly saw with Burai. What finally got through to him (not seen here) was Geki saying that he refused to kill Burai despite winning and despite their differences, Burai realized then and there how much his brother loved him. It was a lot more intense than the MMPR version, which IMO had a bit too clean of a resolution.

Whether you prefer Zyuranger or Mighty Morphin, you can't deny that the Evil Green Ranger arc was among the best and most defining arcs in both franchises!

I remember this being hyped as shit back in the day. Looking at it now, the Sentai version adds more to the fight than it just being a matter of "Good vs Evil". I wonder how well the story elements of the Sentai version would've translated well here in America like the two Rangers having bad blood between them already.

The red ranger has always been my favorite, and not gonna lie, if I was like 9 watching this I would have been jumping all over the living room.

I am JDF fan, but i preffer Burai version. Because Burai had hes own motives to hate Zuyrangers, and wanted to Conquer the World! Btw Green and Red are brothers in original, which makes this fight dramatic.

i always knew it came from a japanese show. but i never watched it until now. that was kind of a mind fuck to see other people in those suits in those scenes i so vividly remember.

Geki was easily going to win the fight. Fighting defensively and reacting to your opponent makes it easier to find and exploit their blind spots/weaknesses. Fighting aggressively though effective, you overlook your opponents weakness in the effort of trying to break through their defence.

Watching this as an adult the “hyaa” sound effects are little excessive.

Anyone who calls MMPR a disgrace to Zyurangers needs to see the MMPR "remake" footage.

I hate how PR fans will often compare this fight and say that Jason vs Tommy was epic. News Flash! Jason and Tommy never fought at all. Not even their suit actors did as all of this whole “fight” was copy and pasted from japanese stock footage. Burai vs Geki on the other hand was a real fight as the actors themselves insisted on doing the de-morphed portion of this fight without using stunt doubles because they wanted it to be epic and to be able to express their natural emotions.

RIP to the greatest ranger of them all.

The juxtaposition of the Tyrannozord winning against Dragonzord while the tide turns in the Ranger battle is amazing. Power Rangers is great, but Zyuranger was on top of it.

Jason The Red Ranger was the most Badass Ranger ever and also the Best Leader ever. Glad his Tyrannosaurus crippled Dragonzord and it was Epic when he hopped out of Megazord and defeated Green Ranger one on one.

The fighting style of Power Rangers makes a lot more sense after watching the Japanese version.

Burai said this taunt because after Geki found out that Burai was his brother, he refused to fight him for the longest time, and this moment was when Geki finally mustered up the courage to challenge his brother to a final battle in order to save the world

It's crazy how even the sound effects of the giant things walking are better in the Japanese. There's a certain style to it that apparently the American producers (and many people in the comments) don't understand.

Seeing the differences between mmpr and zyuranger morphing makes me wonder why mmpr made the rangers wear their morphers behind their backs instead of just up front and reversed like zyuranger. They might have been able to use more sentai footage in mmpr had they done that.

I think the japanese just does it better because America is always the teenager aspect. While the Japan put more depth in to the characters so the storylines were more fleshed out and developed.
