Love the video… BUT: 1. Zordon actually did have British accent… a distorted one but it was there. The original voice actor Dave Fielding was British. 2. Adam was the one who was supposed to get the audio stuff in his helmet. Not Billy. Great video though :)
I never had the movie but my cousin did and sometimes when i would come over we would watch it. It was pretty good as a kid and my cousin had all the toys and still does today which is pretty cool.
My childhood right here. This, WWF, X-Men, Ninja Turtles, Batman, and yeah. I still have the old school green ranger action figure in the box and dressed as him for the past 2 halloweens. I was 10 when this movie came out. Love this stuff!
Skull was played by a family friend of mine. My mom even got him to show up at my elementary school in costume. Good memories with this movie and the OG show.
I saw this in the theater when I was a kid and I still remember how the "I'm a frog" line got the biggest laughs. So cool to learn that was improvised and I'm so glad they left it in! Ivan Ooze was also hilarious. That actor fully embraced the oozy goodness. "What is that odious stench? It smells like... teenagers."
Amen to that! JDF (aka Tommy) always did have the better zords as his time holding the Power Ranger mantle. But his two best roles were and always will be The Green Ranger and White Ranger.. With his DragonZord, and White TigerZord.
point of odor: they gave _Billy_ some contacts. The character. Meaning they were diegetic contacts, not real. Yost didn't have to put contacts in to portray the character.. because that would be assy.
Little kid me was always salty and didn't understand why they couldn't have these cool suits in the tv series that aired after the movie. Wasn't for many years after that I learned wtf was going on with the Japanese scenes.
My husband and I took our son and his friends to this movie when it was released. As parents, we thought it was cute, but we actually discussed the fact that it didn't show injuries. We didn't need gushing blood, but we felt it should show kids that fighting like this would cause bleeding when sliced. After all, as a mum, I certainly had to patch up my share of injuries from recreating movie moves irl (lol). ;) I always had a soft spot for the black/green ranger being a frog. That improvised scene touching. :)
Right? Sensible parents would want to see consequences. Though that would definitely stop a lot of Batman products in their tracks, as the crooks he subdues would almost definitely die of their injuries.. The irony is on the show, being hit would cause sparks to fly out, meaning those actors had a bunch of pyrotechnics going off right on their bodies.. that's significantly more dangerous than pretending to get hit by a sword and adding some stage blood.
The sad fact is certain IPs cant become overly successful without certain groups of people out there trying to shut it down. Harry Potter for its use of witchcraft. Power Rangers for its use of martial arts. Even though the show itself has a lot of well written stories that teaches kids great lessons like team work, patience, working hard, repurcussions etc. There were a lot more like Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel, but i cant remember most of them.
The day this came out my dad let me skip school and we went and saw it in theaters. It was awesome. The theater had local people dressed up as the Power Rangers doing a meet and greet and a photo op with everybody outside before wewent in.
I still have the VHS copy of this movie. One thing I like about MMPR The Movie is how this is an actual movie and not just an extended eps. of the show unlike Power Rangers Turbo The Movie.
The costume performers don't get enough credit for their stunt work in this movie. Because those suits were grueling to perform in. Very limited range of motion and were extremely hot.
Well Jason, Trini and Zack were supposed to be part of this film but due to contract disputes they left the series. I think this film wouldve been the perfect way to send of the characters of Trini, Zack and Jason had the actors stayed.
He was Lowkey the most jacked and fit guy on the show. An actual real life gymnast. Which is why the show runners went out of their way to cover him in baggy clothes. But they toned it down by the time this movie came out.
The "Alien Rangers" and the ninja zords were taken from Kakuranger, and the animal zords correspond with the ninja rangers whose names were taken from Japanese folklore such as Jiraiya and the frog. Which is why the frog was a ninja zord. You'll notice these names and motifs again as characters in Naruto. I feel like that could have been explained better in a breakdown video of all things instead of saying the frog zord was ridiculous. lmao
Red ranger and pink ranger were my wrestling partners growing up. Those roughly 2.5ft soft bodies with the harder heads got powerbombed and choke slammed onto every surface in and around the house.
I'm not sure if this was intended or not, but I love that Dulcea's name looks and sounds very close to "dulcet", which means soft and sweet sounding. The irony is that her weapon against the Oozemen sounds like "nails on a chalkboard". I'm overthinking it, but it was a thought.
I’ve never seen any red berets not do any jumps without being hooked up to a static line. Unless you were pertaining to special forces/operators that had a recruit join at 17, and not fail selection or training before being assigned to a group, lol. Other than that, if someone is lucky, they will do all the jump schools, and qualify for the HALO at a minimum age of 22. There hasn’t been any young late teenagers, that are able to free fall in the military, and be able to control were and how they land. But I applaud you for pointing out that knees, back, and ankles are still crunching lol
Thank you MT! I remember watching this in the theatre with my mom, and at age 36, I still love the Power Rangers! Also, when my dad asked me to take up martial arts as a kid, I first didn’t want to as I was 5 years old, but when I saw this movie with my mom I changed my mind, mainly because of JDF, and the rest is history. RIP JDF, the greatest ranger ever.
My uncle bought me the movie the day it came out. He also got me a pack of power ranger cards and I literally pulled 1 of 12 holo Ivan ooze cards. Still got it
This was my favorite movie as a child. It is literally one of the best films ever made. All the changes they made from the original cast and characters where totally for the best.
The CGI for the zord battle was shockingly bad to me even in the 90s. I think I liked the rest of it though. I thought Paul Freeman actually tried and I appreciated that about him. He could've just kept cashing his Indiana Jones checks and stayed home. Would love a breakdown of Turbo.
Im so glad Heavy Spoilers took on MT, this is gold. No one else can review this movie as well. I wouldnt care for this video if anyone else did it. This is perfect. Thank you MT.
I remember when I got the Falcon Zord for something I think good test grades maybe. It was the one to have on the playground at school at your friend's house etc It was the coolest one out of this new group. Flash forward a few months my friend Shane was having a birthday party and I believe he asked for it and his mom got him a Mordant action figure instead😂😂😂 Yeah the pig guy!!! I'll never forget the look of disappointment on his face as he pulled it out after taking off the wrapping paper. It was so ugly and it was a big large bendable figure so it was like rubber and it had the wires in it to bend the arms and the legs. A horrible sickly greyish pink hue covered it with the darker armored pieces. You can look the figure up too 😂😂😂 It's so bad it's so gross lol he was so pissed off that was one of the first times I ever saw him get really angry as a kid. I'm flying around with the Falcons Zord our other friends have different ones and he's stuck with an oversized pigman thing that just bends its limbs every which way I remember him taking and whacking it off of a rock multiple times but because it was hard rubber it just kept bouncing back one time it hit him in the face😂😂😂 Oh man I'd do anything to go back to the good old days when toys was your only worry. I remember him chucking it across the playground at school and I had to go retrieve it because he wouldn't and his mom was pissed because it was so beat up and it was only a few days old like half his nose was missing his eye was missing just wear and tear scuffs and scrapes all over him pieces of rubber falling off I think he put a paperclip through his nose😂 📎 🐽 he hated that guy so much... Anytime anyone brought it up to him after the toy was eventually demolished he would get So angry If anyone read this whole thing I appreciate you going down memory lane with me live long and prosper friends 🤙👍👍
I will say, Kimbery's scream when she's stuck in the dino ribbs was truly done really well. Like she actually was screaming like her life was in danger and not just acting like it was a scary.
Ivan Ooze! I got this film for my Christmas but there was a power cut due to heavy snow. I was itching to watch it and ended up having a massive argument with my dad who wanted to listen to his new record when the power came back on. The second I saw the title of this video that "Uh Oh, we're in trouble" song started playing in my head. My mum HATED that song. Safe to say I was in love with the pink Ranger.
I grew up watching power rangers and I loved the movie but I honestly think they easily could've made a movie series and here's my fan fiction movie list: 1. Power Rangers: The Movie 1995 2. Power Rangers: The Movie 2: Rise of the Dragon(The Rangers vs. The Green Ranger) 1996 3. Power Rangers: The Movie 3: Birth of the White Tiger 1998 (The Rangers vs. Lord Zedd) 4. Power Rangers: The Movie 4: Ninja Quest 1999( Ninja Rangers vs. Ivan Ooze)
I remember when this came out. I was so excited. I hated how the Zords looked but it was a great movie. I was really Sad that Dolcea and Ivan Ooze weren't brought to the main line series. I think they missed and opportunity there. Especially since Rito seemed to have been a one off monster fight, Ivan could have easily replaced him . They made a whole set of toys featuring the new weapons. Even though we only got to we like 2 of them. I wish we had seen more. They pretty much abandoned the weapons aspect in the second and third seasons. With only Tommy having one.
Look it up but jdf actually did skydive in that scene he even holds the guiness record for most boards broken while skydiving it's on the guiness site unless someone else has broken it by now.
This movie would've been MUCH better written had Jason, Trini and Zack be included. It would've been a more ensemble cast. It is CLEAR that Tommy and Kim are the ones carrying the team and Billy also around but Aisha, Adam and Rocky are COMPLETELY relegated because they're new. The Red Ranger, such a powerful and forefront team lead in the show is just in the background with Rocky, this actually wasn't any different in the show either. As a kid, I LOVED the movie and I LOVED this alternative timeline, it felt much more cinematic, but if the original team had stayed I would've been BLOWN AWAY!
6:55 no its not "clear" u ur self done said it is in a different timeline so no i dont see what ur bitching bout when it comes to the z wave when it was in inspace and inspace happend LONG AFTER MMPR, my god with ur "logic" he is wearing the yih yang necklace because he would because the black ranger later in dinothunder 😂 and the white part is because he is the white ranger
okay ... so who is going to do the breakdown / debunking of THIS video to point out all of it's inaccuracies? I'll get you started and correct something said at 4:43 ... only two of these actors were "teenagers in real life" at the time of filming ... and they were 19 (adults according to the law). and at 10:47 I'm glad they got to the hospital ON TIME and weren't late ... i was starting to think they weren't going to make it IN TIME. and at 14:10 please explain how parents being concerned that their kids are watching a tv show with violence isn't "monitor(ing) what their children watch like good parents" (14:20)??? How do you contradict yourself so hard in the same sentence? and finally at 22:56 ... i hate to tell you but traveling 20 years back in time isn't going to do much ... even if you went the extra 10 years back you needed to go, I doubt you saying 🤓 "excuse me, sirs" is going to accomplish much
That's not far off from what Saban would do, be a cheap skate. As Jason D Frank said in an interview for Dino Thunder, Saban is known to be cheap. As for my fav, Billy blue ranger is my fav. Favourite moment, Dulcea. Had a massive crush on her.
That was low to go after ASJ like that at the end. He wasn't convicted or proven guilty in that covid scheme. The guy made a 3 year campaign against overpriced autographs, he didn't know what he was getting involved in was a scam. You need to do better
yeah the mighty Morphin power ranger movie is not canon to the mighty Morphin power rangers series. they even had a separate transition when they became the mighty Morphin ninja rangers in the movie and in the series how they got their powers was different the whole entire thing was different but I love the movie better than I love the series how they transitioned over to their new powers. the only movie that was Canon to the movie series and the show series was turbo rangers.
I remember when i first saw a behind the scenes short featurette for this on "The Pagemaster" vhs i had. SOON as it finally dropped on vhs we got and watched it almost everyday. That power ranger vhs was weird because when you fast forward to the very end of the tape it had the end fight from Double Dragon the movie as if it had been taped over 😂😂😂. I always wondered if i had a bootleg copy but the quality seemed too good to be bootlegged 😂😂😂
You should have mentioned due to being over time that they also filmed episodes for the tv series here too. Ivan Ooze was hospitalised during production from on set injury. Not all of the movie was made in Sydney! I believe the dinosaurs in the forrest were in Queensland. Could have mentioned the tower used in the end was built for Sydney Olympics and still exists. Also the fact they originally filmed the ranger action sequences without the visors in the helmets but realised it looked ridiculous and reshot with visors added. This was later used in the 2017 movie with several scenes without visors
Austin didn't decieve people for money if you're referring to the current charges brought up against him. That's not even what THEY are saying he did lol way to just slander somebody
For a brief moment you can actually see the Black Ranger helmet have an enhancement. My take is that in this universe Tommy wasnt the Green Ranger. Who wears Green in the movie? Dulcea.
Hot damn!! I watched this movie on VHS daily when I was a kid 😂 and absolute classic and Oscar Isaac’s first appearance as “apocalypse” can be seen in this! 😂 I had the toys that u could put together to make the big megazord! Stoked for this one!! Heavy spoilers for the win as usual! 🔥🔥
