To migrate WordPress from a subdomain to replace a live site takes one little trick. That is to make sure once you turn maintenance mode on in the live site that you transfer WordPress as quickly as possible.

Hi I have a questions, where is the root folder, I open the public_html, and theres two folder that I confused one is the name of the website existing and other its wordpress (which i believe the content is inside of that folder). where do I need to upload the installlator and archive? thank you

You are a champion and a life saver. Thanks man. I am using hostgator and was trying to use all in one migration plugin. After a lot of failed trials, I found out that hostgator is one of their unsupported hosting provider. And I was stuck. Found your video to be very helpful and simple to follow (as I don't have technical knowledge). And the best of all, IT WORKS. Thanks.

Thank you so much. I tried to move my subdomain to the root manually, which was a complete fail. Your method worked flawlessly :) Just a tip for others: Delete your security plugins that are on your new site, like WordFence, as they cause problems for Duplicator. Once your site is transferred to the root, you can re-install WordFence again. Thank you again.

Awesome tutorial. Most videos I watched just transferred from the local host to a fresh server with nothing in it! I was updating an existing site so this was exactly what I was looking for.

Worked great! I had an issue with a duplicate config file but this was a new site and not replacing another. So I had to delete everything by their tips and extracted a second time. Worked perfectly Great tutorial...

Superb tutorial. Immediately subscribed for future hacks! While installing I was stuck on step-4 when it ask to click login. When clicking the button I was seeing 403 error. I was scared. But then tried login manually and it worked.

Hi Irfan, Thanks for subscribing! Much appreciated! Did you resolve the 403 or simply find a way to avoid it? I have this video on the 403 in case you need it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8BSCoXHQysI.html You may need to reset the permalinks. Go to Settings > Permalinks, scroll down the page and click Save without changing anything. That resets Permalinks. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Hi Guys Great Video, Ive just moved a new site from my development server to a clients new hosting. I was getting data-base errors and other problems before I decided to look at this video and use the plugin. It was simple and easy to following the steps and once the process was finished, the site was up and running. Even the data-base errors were gone. Great plugin and a great guide.

Great video. Question, what if after I originally created the subdomain, created the new WP which by the say created a database. Do I still need to create a "blank" database? Why cant I utilize the database that was created when I created the subdomain WP site? Thank you in advance.

I followed the step (STEP BY STEP) i.e. the duplicator and even got to the end to test the new site. When I logged in, it still shows my sandbox.website!!!!!

Lol, the picture in the thumbnail was taken during a difficult time in life. Due to this comment thread (and others) I’ve updated my thumbnail design, which you can see in my most recent videos. I think they’re a lot better now :)

Hi this is a brilliant tutorial, really hoping you might be able to help me with a question. What if the old site that you're replacing has more webpages than the new version. Do you then need to manually setup re-directs in wordpress for each of the old webpages? Because they'll need to redirect to new URLs with updated content on them..

Also, is it advisable to change the subdomain to be transferred to be changed to what the new site is to be before migrating? Your feedback will be much appreciated👍

Update: I restarted everything and it worked like a charm. I tried to edit this before and I'm leaving up this original comment in case someone else has the same problem. This is an amazing instructional video! THANK YOU! Hi, I'm as far as Step 1 as the files in Duplicator are extracting archive files. It's showing at 100% but the bar and the scroll appears to be stuck but still moving (It's been a good 20 minutes at the time of this post). I can't seem to get to Step 2. Any advice? I should add that when I refresh the cPanel/File Manager it appears that the files are copied over. I'm actually stuck on installing the database file. I hope you can help by morning. Thanks.
