Oh yes! Lim-5P! My grandpa worked in PLZ Mielec (Poland) where these planes were made. He always told me that Mig-17 still had a lot of room for upgrades. And if Soviets would let them apply these upgrades that plane could easily compete with 2gen jets!
I hope to see the MiG-17F the proper tech tree ver with afterburners, and subsequent versions. And pls bring in the lead indicator for all aircrafts that had em, both cockipit view and 3rd person.
MiG-17F, MiG-17PF, MiG-19S… all in another nations’ tech trees (while the soviet tree has only the very first and basic MiG-17 and a prototype MiG-19) War Thunder at its finest
I have it and believe me you dont want it, its in a horrible match up at 9.0 it loses to its downtiers Even the yak 38 is a better choice. you face the g91r4, mainstay grinder of 2 tech trees and its 8.7 The 15ish is even worse
One small difference, the 15bis also differs from the regular 15 in the fact that it has hydraulically boosted controls, meaning it doesn't lock up as much (still a lot)
@@dogeness Migs in general just don't have that great of roll rate. At least compared to the Sabres and G.91s. I think that's the leading slats that give NATO aircraft the better roll rates.
@@shakenbakejake25 The only plane out of the ones you mentioned that have leading edge slats are the F-86A, F-86F-40, CL-13B Mk.6, G.91Y, and YS. All the rest of the Sabres and G.91s don’t have it. Leading edge slats just lower your stall speed and decrease turn radius. They don’t do anything for roll rate.
@@sule.A well in the instance that slats are deployed asymmetrically then roll rate would be increased away from the deployed side and decreased towards it, sure. But that’s only compared to baseline. The whole reason the slats are being deployed in the first place is because that wing is losing lift so there may not even be a change to roll rate in the first place, if that makes any sense.
Honestly the Mig-17 has to be one of my favorites, despite the video saying it's bad at turning it turns incredibly well if you know how to use your airbreak and utilize the large wings, you can go from an energy fight to a dogfight with ease and out turn most things aside from G-91's etc.
Really nice video of the early MiG fighters! I hope to see one on the early Sukhoi Su-7/9/11 variants as I really like the Soviet fighters with nose intakes.
Q: Hey gaijin, in the near future could you, or will you add the F-94 starfire to WT? It was the first american production jet that had a afterburner, that's a pretty nice piece of history right there. Would love to see it in Warthunder, preferably N O T as a event vehicle.
The MiG-15 has (along with other swept winged MiGs) incredible MER and turn rate, but lackluster roll. It is extremely dominant in a rate fight, but suffers quite a bit in a radius fight (e.g. a rolling scissor), as many of its opponents roll considerably better (e.g. an F-86 Sabre).
Only played the MiG-9 in the Chinese tech tree so far, but I'm currently still researching the J-2 (MiG-15bis) and I'm very much looking forward to it.
It's quite cancerous sorry to tell you, most games you have to fight people that just run all game and spam missiles. There's almost nothing you can do about it especially the all aspects ;/
@@jaiiii116 That's basically all of high-tier now, I know. I've been spading the G.91Y, and that's at 9.3, even worse. Still, should be at least a little fun, and not a guaranteed up-tier.
The MiG-19S absolutely wrecks everything at its BR in air RB. It has the classic party piece of being able to just go up and the extra cannon makes it all the more deadly.
Getting a 1km+ kill on a faster jet trying to run away in a straight line , with the 37 mm cannon, is one of the most satisfying things you can do with these planes
MiG 19 is always gonna be my favorite, I just love it so much the design is perfect, and it is a very solid dogfighter in game, so I would have to say it's my fav :)
Chuck 'Ego' Yeagar proved that the Mig15 could not break mach...He, and another pilot were supposed to test a defected Mig15 , but instead, did all but fly it into the ground trying to break the sound barrier the way the Sabre could.
the mig 21 is an interceptor designed to scaramble quickly to protect bridges and supply routes while the Sabre is an air superiority fighter built to escort and protect bombers, a great pair of planes but the 10 to 1 USAF claim is knida overblown
how doyou set the mig to drop 1 bomb at a time? plus, will you guys make a video about key binding for jest from higher BRs? seems a bit overwhlemning to get a grip on all the functions
My choice is hands down mig-19, as it is energy god. You can loop around enemies or ratefight anybody in your br range. And if you pick A-5 or Q-5 you get buff mig-19 with flares. This airframe is basically a recipe for fun, kill-rich- evening.
The wonderful thing about them, they are versions without afterburners ... I mean at first I thought this was an afterthought. Shouldnt have there been 3x30 mm also ?
@@purgetrapscorp No, Bf 109 and Spitfire have differently shaped wings, fuselage and engine cover. Meanwhile Sabre and MiG-15 have very similar shapes, the main differences are wings mounting and tail configurations.
WAR THUNDER PLEASE FIX THE PROBLEM! When I’m in a dog fight and my pilot get knocked out makes my tail gunner completely inoperable, that’s not realistic at all please fix!
Hey War Thunder, it's past time we have an option to allow if we want uptiered battles or not, just like we decide wether join ongoing battles or not.. work on that.
@warthunderI hope war thunder have more cooler update example Artillery feature that we can use with artillery vehicle like 2s3m from long range just like in world of tanks did
I'd like to ask the difference in the MIG-21PFM and generic MIG-21. It has less Air to air but is the same speed if not slower sometimes. Only difference I found has been the BR at 9.3 VS the 9.7+ and the less Air to Air.
@Kaiser Von if it is indeed the same plane, which my research has shown me isn't (its supposedly made to be faster and more menuverable.) I'm just more questioning the Br placement due to constant uptiers it doesn't feel like a 9.3 Jet
