@@mamasprincess1024 it wouldn't have been forbidden for him to marry her but he knew it would have been weird because he knew her already when she was a kid. And he was intelligent enough to realise she became evil like her mum.
Ottoman Princess Mihrimah Sultan and Damat Rustem Pasha; Mihrimah Sultan was an Ottoman princess, the daughter of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his legal wife, Hurrem Sultan. She was born in istanbul in 1522 during the reign of her father, Suleiman I. She was the most powerful imperial princess in Ottoman history. She was greatest and most respected princess and a prominent figure in the Sultanate of Women. In Europe she was known as (Sultana Cameria) while in Istanbul she was known as (The Great Sultana). She was well-educated and disciplined, sophisticated and also eloquent. Mihrimah had 5 full-brothers: Mehmed, Abdullah, Selim II, Bayezid, and Cihangir. She had 3 half-brothers Mustafa, Mehmud, Murad and 1 half-sister Raziye Sultan. she was Great Sultana to her prominent role during the reigns of her father Suleiman I, her brother Selim II and her nephew Murad III. Mihrmah's life was not like the rest of the Ottoman royal princesses. Apart from beauty, Mihrimah is also associated with strength and power. Remaining Like the traditional Ottoman princesses, Mihrimah Sultan didnot fall in love with anyone. There is no mention of Mihrimah Sultan's love for anyone in history. Mihrmah Sultan's own consent was also included in the marriage of Suleiman and Hurrem to marry Rustem Pasha. She was happy and satisfied with her married life with Rustem Pasha.... In Ottoman history, both mother and daughter Hurrem and Mihrimah are mentioned in terms of strength and beauty. After her mother's death, Mihrmah Sultan moved permanently to Topkapi Palace where she took over the seat of her late mother. In addition to the responsibility of the Haram, Suleiman used to take advice from Mihrimah after Hurrem. And after the death of Suleiman I in 1566, Selim II also took advice from Mihrimah on the affairs of the saltanate. During Selim's reign, Mihrimah Sultan held the position of "Mother Sultan". After Mihrimah Sultan in power and influence, Selim's favourite concubine, after legal wife was Nurbanu Sultan. After the death of Selim II in 1574, Murad III became Sultan, now his mother was Sultan Nurbanu, but the responsibility of the harem was still under the responsibility of Mihrimah. Nurbanu Sultan got the real power after the death of Mihrmah Sultan in 1578. Mihrimah Sultan died in Istanbul on 25 January 1578 during her nephew Murad III's reign. She is Suleiman's only child to have been buried in his tomb in the Suleymaniye Mosque. The first Mihrimah Sultan Mosque in Uskudar's and built between 1544-1548. The second Mihrimah Sultan Mosque beside the Edirne Gate, was built between 1561-1563 Ottoman Damat Rustem Pasha; History doesn't reveal the exact date of birth of Rustem Pasha, but he was born in a Bosnian village around the turn of the 16th century between (1500-1505), probably in Butmir or Skridan. As a young child he was brought to Istanbul, and studied to be a future servant for the Ottoman state. He became the governor of Diyarbakir in 1539. He promoted fast as he married Mihrimah Sultan, daughter of Sultan Suleiman & Hurrem Sultan. On 26, November 1539, Mihrimah Sultan was married to Rüstem. And then he became a Vizier First and then Suleiman the Magnificent appointed him Grand Vizier for the first time in 1544 but in 1553 he was dismissed, only to recover the position in 1555 and hold on to it until his death in 1561. Rüstem Pasha died of hydrocephalus on 1561. and was buried in his mausoleum in the courtyard of Sehzade mosque in Istanbul. (which was dedicated to Suleiman and Hurrem's elder son, Sehzade Mehmed) because his dream project, the Rustem Pasha Mosque, had not yet been built. Rustem Pasha tomb sits alongside that of Sehzade Mehmed. After her husband's death, Mihrimah Sultan completed his work including the construction of the eponymous Rustem Pasha Mosque. It was designed by the Ottoman imperial architect Mimar Sinan and built between 1561-1563. Rüstem Pasha was well-educated, disciplined, clever and had a business-oriented mind. He owned land and many buildings, collected rents from these, and became very rich. Actually it's said that he was the richest person after the Sultan. After Rustem's death, Mihrmah didn't not remarry. Rustem and Mihrimah's had a 1 daughter, and 1 son; Ayse Humasah Sultan (1541-1598) Sultanzade Osman Bey (1546-1576)
I don’t know how I felt about this relationship. Sure Bali Bey is absolutely gorgeous and I totally get why Mirihmah was crushing on him but he’s a grown ass man and she’s just a baby. Even when’s she’s grown to a young adult woman he’s still like twice her age. I respect his honestly when he told Hurrem he doesn’t see her as more than a kid.
This wasn't nearly as gross as most imperial sultana marriages were. Kosem married off her daughters at ages 5,7,& 12. Roughly. For whatever reason the dates were not well kept.
No. I think Bali was about 17 years old- for example, when she was about 8. That's not so bad when both of them became fully grown adults, but Rustem was clearly older than Bali Bey.
@@TeosDiary Bali Bey has almost the same age of Suleiman. The diferente between him and Mirimah was about 25 years. Obviously for this type of marriages the age doesn't have relevance but at least in the serie he was never interested because Mirimah was a child in his mind
@@TeosDiary I just did the math from information available on internet. Bali Bey was 28 years older than Mihrimah and Rustem pasha was 34 years older than her. Also she was married at the age of 16. So, both the prospects are horribly disgusting
Well... Valide sultan want to marry her niece Princess Aybige with her grandson Shezade Mustafa , then the blood was not really an impediment. Obviously the real fact is that Mirimah marry with Rustem Pasha, but to add tons of drama and rating, the reject of Bali Bey was perfect.
Poor Bali Bey never saw himself worthy to be with Aybigay nor Mihrimah. I think (in the show because I don't know if this person actually existed and in this capacity) he thought he was relinquishing his happiness to give her a better husband and a better future. There were many times that she dazzled him and he looked starstruck by how much she had grown and matured. It was like he was trying to reconcile the little girl with the young woman before him. When he found out she was wedding Rustem he was like WTF 😂 He knew he was at least better than Rustem 😂😂😂 But he would never go back on his word or act improperly
He wasnt blind and obviously Mirimah grow really gracefully but i dont think he was another interest. It seemed disgusting with the fact that an old man like Rustem (he was even older) wanted a young girl. For him she always was a child
@zentlimx that would be a nice notion, but that's applying modern sensibilities to a culture from 500 years ago. It was very common to marry imperial sultanas to old men. Hatice's husband died soon after they married. Kosem's daughter's weren't even 10 when she married them off
@@Team_Monty yeah I know for this cultures the age is not important, and not a scandal girls with old mens . But in the serie he expresses this a few times , and the worst I think ... He knows that she had strong and capricious nature like her mother hahaha she was fire . And despite all the desire to see them together ( not for me because I don't like this couple ) the history is that she will end with Rustem. Then just producers adding lots of drama until she married with her real husband 🤷🏻♀️
I really liked Bali bey’s character in the series.Extremely loyal to the sultan and sultanate unlike others playing game for their own selfish good behind the sultan.Good he dint accept her love else he would have lost his head😂as eventually he had to take sides and support hurrem and co due to Mihrimah. That guy was very smart. And I respect him to stand his ground,no matter how much entitled, spoilt brat mihrimah sultan irritated and kind of forced him one sided and threatened him as well he still saw her as child and continued to do so unlike rustem pasha🤮the character i genuinely liked in the series after Shehzade mehmet.
And she meant it! Even Malkoçoğlu couldn't see her on the other way than just a little girl basically kid she could have some other decent partner. It is real ashame that she ended up with that ugly old evil cruel creature named Rustem pasha.
.... you understand that's normal? It's extremely normal to NOT see someone sexually or romantically when you literally saw them as a baby and a child while you were a full blown adult ? No normal human being can honestly get past that age difference, and having literally seen her in diaper age. I truly don't get people who think it's not normal he never saw her this way. He probably felt like an uncle to her growing up, that would be super goddamn weird.
Bali Bey is the same age of Suleiman and he meets her since she was a baby . Mirimah was always a children for him, besides he has his own story about be widower and love his life as single man .
Hurrem asked Bali Bey if he was interested on Mirimah and he says not at all. What is the purpose to be married obligate for Suleiman if she knows he not love her ? Also, the real history is that she was the Rustem Pasha wife , so nothing to do in the script 🤷🏻♀️
@@Caramelpop86Jesus goddamn christ, thank you. Thank you. People are in these comments wondering why he just couldn't love her and I'm over here like... "He is a grown man standing next to her as a literal child, it would be weird if those feelings ever changed 🤢
