Mihrimah Sultan, descyendant of Sultan Suleiman and Hurrem Sultan. -The meaning of her name in Persian is Sun and Moon. - She was known as the most powerful, influental, richest princess in Ottoman History -Like every princess in Ottoman Empire, once she reached the age of wedlock, she will marry a candidate arranged by the Sultan. - Historically, it is believed that it was Suleiman who decided Mihrimah to marry Rustem Pasha. It is not from Hurrem Sultan as shown in the series - Like her mother, Mihrimah also had diplomatic relations with the King of Poland, Sigismund II Augustus in 1548. Interestingly, the way her letters were written was also very similar to that of her mother, Hurrem Sultan. - After Hurrem Sultan death, Mihrimah officially took over her mother's place. - In harem, she rule as The Head of Harem like her mother once did and gain power through with political affairs. In political affairs, she acts as Sultan's advisor, his confidant, urging him to undertake the conquest of Malta in 1565 and sending him news when Sultan was absent from capital. -To convince Sultan, she enlisted the help of the Grand Vizier Semiz Ali Pasha, and promising to outfit four hundred ships at her own expense. - In the 16th century, there was a temporary closure of the western grain market and a shortage of harvested produce. This led to several crises. However, with the help of Mihrimah Sultan, the people of the Dalmatian Republic of Ragusa managed to regain their supply of grain in the Ottomans. - In fact, during the Ottoman siege of Malta in 1565, the ambassador of Ragusan to appeal to Mihrimah to act as their protector. -In charities, at her own expense, she has built two mosque complexes. Mihrimah Sultan Mosque in Uskudar and in Edirne. Both of these architectures were designed by the leading Chief Architect of the time, Mimar Sinan. - She also commissioned the repair of 'Ayn Zubaydah, the spring in Mecca, and the established a foundation to supply wrought iron to the navy. - Selim bestowed the title of Valide Sultan to his older sister, Mihrimah Sultan as replace her late mother. It became the only incident in Ottoman history that a valide sultan was from Ottoman royal blood, thus reflecting Mihrimah's power. -She be the only one princess to be figure in Sultanate of Women

I reckon at this point, he would definitely become arrogant. He climbed up the ranks from 'pig herder' to Grand Vizier, as Mihrimah said. He also killed the guy who claimed to be Sultan, Ibrahim, and after years of hard work, managed to frame Şehzade Mustafa and get away with it.

@@debajyotidatta6637 yes. I was talking only about the show version. In reality, I too had heard that Rustem was quite a competent official. And when it comes to Mirimah, sure their marriage was loveless but at least they haf a cordial relationship
His arrogance even then is why she could go through with this and not feel remorse beyond her children being without a father. She gave him Chances to come back to her and he denied them, all for a slight she never really followed.

Mihrimah and all of her pointless drama was annoying even in the season 3, but this was just off the scale - participating im her own husband’s murder with this savage Atmaca. Yep, congrats,show, for butchering the character with such potential. Mihrimah had a chance to be an interesting character, but the actress, whom personally I don’t like, and poor writing made her only an avatar fluctuating between being a child and a narcissistic psycho. 🥱🙄
