That's because that was what he wanted the audience to get the feeling of. They were playing a scene. I get the feeling that this was from a larger bit or maybe during the whole concert of this particular show they were playing up a big scene of some sort. He did mention Marie Antoinette to one of the girls so I imagine they were doing some theatrical reenactment. Especially since they were dressed quite Victorian and all.
