Mikasa Ackerman Is A TERRIBLE Character | Attack on Titan Analysis

The moment I hated mikasa was when she told levi "You should have done a better job protecting eren" 5 members of the levi squad died so that eren can run away from the female titan that was such a disrespect to their sacrifice

Tbh, I never saw Eren and Mikasa as a couple and it just seemed so forced. They gave me more sibling energy than anything but I really wished they gave Mikasa some character development.

What I hate about mikasa is the sheer predictability of her character. Yes, I know she's one of the mc so she'll have plot armor, but there has to be a limit to plot armor too. Right from the moment she said "he's glad he doesn't have to leave me now" or something along those lines when eren got accepted into the trainee corp, I KNEW she was going to be annoying as hell. She has a complete lack of respect for other people and thinks that everyone must risk their lives for eren. She's constantly imposing herself not only on eren but also other people, and unfortunately isayama glorifies her insufferable behaviour. She rarely feels any guilt regarding her actions, for her, as long as eren is safe, everything is fine. She's a prime example of how authors mess up characters by investing too much of their personal feelings in them. In the beginning when Shadis is describing her as best in everything, it's pretty clear that isayama wanted her to be this perfect, holier than everyone else model character.

There's just something so infuriating about characters who have no will, wants, interests, or opinions. Without Eren, she might as well not exist. Even her sense of self preservation is attached to the need to keep watching over Eren. How, in the midst of impeccable writing, did this happen?

Mikasa's character only exists to love Eren and it's sad since she's just reduced to a plot device because of that. Mikasa is only strong to protect Eren. Mikasa only questions Eren's choices in teh final season to act as his conscience. Mikasa only sides with the alliance to try to save Eren. She really does nothing of her own that doesn't somehow involve Eren. Not to mention she's not actually in love with Eren, she's obsessed with Eren. She fell in love with Eren the moment he saved her as a child with absolutely no deeper understanding of his character either than he was kind. Whenever she thinks of Eren, the scene immediately pans to a shot of childhood Eren. In her mind, that is the Eren she loves. This idealized version that she created the night he saved her. When you think about it, she never truly acknowledges the real/present day Eren. Hence why she is so shocked by his apparent change when he abandons her in Marley. She even questions whether she truly saw the "real" Eren at one point. Mikasa even admitted that she just wanted to return to the times during their childhood. She never once saw Eren for who he truly was until it was too late.

Her role in season 4 absolutely ruined her character for me. She has no reason at all to not want to kill eren. Eren became such an evil person and her refusing to kill him made me so mad. Eren was completely right to tell her that he always hated her. She never let him learn from the dangers of life and coddled him. I think it had a very detrimental effect on eren and he wanted to be “free” of her. It’s ironic because she was basically a “slave” to him but in a way he was held back and therefore, held captive by his own “slave.” She bothers me because there’s so many female characters in AOT that are written so well. Hange is one of the best written female characters I’ve seen in shonen (even though some people say hange isn’t female). Annie is also very well written. As well as many other female AOT characters that have a much, much more minor role than Mikasa, who is one of THE 3 main characters. She’s very similar to Sakura in that way because Sakura is one of the main characters of naruto. The difference is that naruto has few female characters that are even decently written. Before watching the video I knew what he was going to say. Mikasa is not her own character at all. She has absolutely no personality to speak of whatsoever. The only purpose she has is to protect eren and she has no other character traits besides that at all. It’s fine if she’s in love with him but her obsession with him makes her one of the creepiest characters I’ve ever seen and she is completely bland. Being a bad@$$ doesn’t make a character good. For example, Sasha is a good character because she has so many endearing personality quirks and it’s impossible not to love her. She’s practically bursting at the seams with personality and charm. Mikasa has nothing like that. She was holding everyone back with her refusal to kill eren while everyone else was fighting for their lives. It felt very selfish and stupid of her. She had every right to want to kill eren because he treated her like sh!t and she should’ve been the most mad at him out of anybody. It doesn’t make her more “human” or more relatable for having such huge character flaws. Instead it just makes her a bad character because none of her obsessions with protecting eren were really explained at all. The Ackerman’s protecting people thing was just a lazy excuse and a lousy cop out because Kenny and Levi weren’t like that at all. Kenny was very much his own man and basically did whatever he wanted to. Levi was protecting the people of his home behind the walls but I feel like a lot of it was just him loving battle and trying to justify his own existence. Mikasa was protecting eren because she was a weak person, not because she was an ackerman. In fact if it was because she was an ackerman, it’d just ruin her character even more.

The scene with Luise was so rage inducing. Why is she such a bit*h for no reason all of a sudden? I don't get it! Apart from beating Reiner in Shiganshina she might as well have not existed in season 3, she is that irrelevant to the plot at that point. She gets some things added to her with the Ackerman clan and the Hazumabito clan, but those plotlines go nowhere and she has no meaningful interactions for a majority of the series. But all of a sudden the ending is all about her?! Why wasn't this built up throughout the story? Why instead did we get all these other interesting developments that go nowhere now because she gets shoehorned into the story in their place? It's one thing to end the story in a way that makes no sense, it's another to disregard all that you have built up to do it for no reason.

In the manga it wasn't Mikasa who told Historia to punch Levi, it was the Reeves guy (his scenes were cut in the anime version).

annie is such a better female character than mikasa

Mikasa till season 1 was actually an incredible character, she was protective for Eren but at the same time kept him in check, like when Eren called Armin a coward she punched him. This goes to show her agency, though she is very caring, she is not blinded by her love for Eren. But after season one the amount of dialogue she has outside of battle scenes dropped significantly. And the author started to add more scenes to show her as overprotective. Like the farm scene in season 3 part 1 where Mikasa give a blank stare to Historia for just talking to Eren. The biggest elephant is the room was the table scene in season 4. When Eren insulted Mikasa, in place of standing up for herself or just trying to argue with Eren, she just started crying like a damsel in distress. Season 1 Mikasa would've never behaved like this. After this scene she literally doesn't know what to do and embarrassingly asks Armin what she should do.

I agree with you on this. To me, she just became boring and uninterested and I don't care what people say, telling me about the lore with that scarf and her attachment to Eren still doesn't buy me. I did like her in the Trost arc, she felt like an actual character.

I get being saved by someone but would I be in love with them? No I would be eternally grateful but not in love. Plus I really do be hating how she says Eren every five seconds, that pisses me off on a spiritual level 😂😂 And plus it’s just bothered me her core trait was caring for Eren and being a natural talent. IDK at least Armin was doing stuff while he was crying about his BFF dying and Eren getting into crap. 😂

Mikasa is named after a Japanese battleship, but the acutal ship has more purpose and function than Mikasa's character. She never really changes much and actually regresses back to the codependent simp who's spiritually married to Eren.

(no manga spoilers) Here’s the thing tho Mikasa does develop in s1 to 3, take her characterization in the trost arc as shes more hot headed and self centered on protecting Eren, Mikasa didn’t care about the bigger picture (humanity future) like that scene where Eren headbuts Mikasa but in the female titan arc she’s forced to change as when she disobeys Levi to save Eren, she ends up not only hurting Levi but not helping the situation at all so when she has another chance to subdue the titan, she remarks on how it was her fault and that she needs to take responsibility and from there on becomes more of a team player and we can see this through her interactions with Levi as they’re less hostile and she follows orders. We also see her become less solely focused on eren in clash of titans as she has to psych herself up to kill Reiner and Bert as her hesitation to kill her friends led to the situation of the arc. Mikasa development is about learning to fight for the bigger picture as she becomes more focused on saving paradis than simply Eren and we see it in rts where she willingly lets Eren and Armin fight by themselves while she beats Reiner and even lets Armin almost die because she knows Erwin is the better option for humanity(something s1 Mikasa would never do. Her development contrasted Eren as he began to think lesser of the big picture and more about those closest to him.In s4 she has to contend with how she sees Eren and face the fact that she doesn’t understand him as well as she thinks she does.

Remember that titan were not what k1lled her parents but they were humans, so mikasa always saw that the world was a cruel place even without titans, that's why she doesn't care about saving humanity but only cares about armin and eren. However that change after the final season where she choose saving humanity over eren

Trying to find an action Mikasa did without Eren in mind. Failing everytime. What makes it even more disapointed is that she go back to that mentality at the end. Good animation on fight doesn't make a good story.

i think i know why i dislike her now 😂 it's her being a tail to eren. it's kind of annoying to see people who make other people their whole personality for me irl and that's literally her being that character. I understand there maybe more about her character in the manga which I haven't read entirely,but still I cannot like her. I like Pieck more and she just appeared on season 4 😂 and I'm not entirely fan of just being a badasses, it's a good trait contribute to a character but literally what else? and EVERYTIME i say i dont like Mikasa, or worse I say I don't ship Eremika, most AOT fans lose their shit and come at you like calm down. 😂

Mikasa in the manga atleast has a change and compared to the manga is at least 10x better in the manga compared to the anime , however in the anime she’s just another Sakura chasing sasuke until the end

I totally agree with you. She had potential and I kept hoping to see her character develop more, but it just never happened... there were so many missed opportunities. I tried so hard to like her but in the end.. I just couldn't, given what little there is to work with in the manga and the anime so far. That's why I find various fanfiction interpretations of her far more interesting and even likeable. At least some of those authors (the ones I've read) actually took the time and effort to imagine and develop her character into what they felt she could have been.

I don't hate Mikasa, I even kinda like her... but i do think it's a shame the way she was written in the anime. And the manga proves she wasn't supposed to be written that way, so why? Really disappointing

The key to mikasa's character is the Ackermann blood. Time comes for each Ackermann to fall in service of someone at some point in their lives. After all that's what they have been designed for. For Levi it was Erwin, for Kenny it was Udo and for Mikasa it was obviously Eren. Both Levi and Kenny described a strange feeling of loyalty overcoming them when they met their would-be "masters", people they exceptionally respected for whatever reasons and clearly the same happened with Mikasa. Why then does mikasa come off so bland as compared to the other two? Because unlike them she never had a strong personality to begin with, or at least she never grew up to form one since she was the only one to meet her "master" as only a child. Her former self was dwarfed by her Ackermann awakening. That's why when she finally overcomes it and decides to turn against Eren it's a really big deal. It's insulting to say that the talk with Eren was the writers' admission of failure, since more or less subtle clues were there the whole time from the beginning. Eren simply stated in-universe facts: she was a mindless slave void of her own will driven purely by her inherited properties and THAT was her true struggle.

I agree fully- I hate how childish and rude she is to Levi who is my favorite character, and how she always gets what she wants in the end. Her head over heels obsession on Eren is annoying but quite ignorable yet her disrespect for Levi and him and his comrades trying to save everyone is just annoying. She's honestly praised at how good at fighting she is- yet Levi is better which is proven since Levi has saven her multiple times and she has never surpassed him, and Levi is called humanity's strongest soldier which in my opinion is true. If I insulted anyone who likes Mikasa, I'm really sorry, its just my opinion, so please don't be rude.

100% agree. i despise her so much. she's a horrible person through and through. always talking crap, always being a beta, zero confidence in anything beyond her own fighting ability which just comes across as extremely arrogant and disdainful. and that was demonstrated in her little rant in season 1. she even pushes away historia when historia wants to be friends.

I agree with you though what I would have changed about that scene would be…instead of telling false stories like Ackermans needing to protect a host, have Eren say things that are true like how hypocritical Mikasa was being like how she said the Eren she knew would never get civilians involved in a war when that’s kinda what they’ve been doing how many civilians did she think were killed in Eren’s fight with Anne in the interior, in-fact if memory serves correctly Eren was reluctant to fight at first but Mikasa herself pressured him into going through with it and what she also said that day was that “this world is a cruel place”, true yes but if she really believed that why was she ignoring the fact that those people Eren killed all wanted to kill them soldier, civilian, and ambassador from other countries alike and way was she talking about a scarf as if that changes anything, if there’s anyone who doesn’t care about anyone or anything els it’s her, she doesn’t care about Paradise or anyone els she only cares about Eren, the fact that she pinned Armin to that table to defend Eren when Armin was lashing out on her behalf proves it

season 1 Mikasa only cared about her own people, Eren, Armin, and no one else. Season 2, she fucking hesitates to kill her enemies who killed the people who gave her a home when she had nothing. Season 3, she allows Eren to be in harm's way, letting the guy be kidnapped, when she'd threaten anyone who even wanted to talk with her, and grew a newfound friendship with Historia, choosing to defend her over her lover, because of her mission. Her development is about how she turns from just someone who's purely devout to the people she loves, to the person who not only follows orders, but also can sympathize with her enemies. In Season 4, despite Gabi killing Sasha, and her literally breaking down in tears over her death, she protects her, keeps her safe from harm, even asks if she's okay. Are you sure that they are the same people? She went from someone who's unforgiving, just remember how angry she was at Levi for kicking Eren, despite it being the reason he's still alive, to someone willing to forgive someone who killed her best friend, not because they were good, but just because she doesn't want to hold a grudge.

as you said in your comment section, you started reading the manga after season 4. To be honest if you actually wanna have a valid view on her character, you should read the manga from the start, then do your criticism on her. Maybe your points are valid then. Also you say it yourself in your video. Mikasa represents simplicity of a person who wants to be with her loved ones. Even isayama said how mikasa wanted to live the life she had as a child. The whole ymir- mikasa thing was certainly bad writing as the ending had many flaws. However i always saw it as tragic(even tho im not an ending fan) Mikasa has dedicated her life protecting the ones she loved, Eren specially. Her going up against him because she doesn’t agree with his ideologies, does make sense. The execution of it was terrible in my opinion tho. Mikasa was a victim of lazy writing at the ending. As someone else points out, she does develop bonds for other people, she starts respecting Levi and her comrades more, for someone who joined just to protect Eren and Armin. we see her respect the people around her, grow to care for others.

I think she’s quite reasonable as a character. She loves someone who she’s known since forever and knew that person must have reasons for their actions. That’s not blind love. She just knew her love interest so much that it’s hard for her to believe that person is evil. Until the last moment of course. She was intended to be of the same relevance in the Plot as Eren but got written off, you say? Yes. That’s life for you. There are kids and teens out there with great potential and bright future but get eaten by society and fall to mediocrity. That’s life. It’s easy to understand, is it?

I came here just to write how much I dislike this character, in this show of complex character I prefer literally everyone even the merchant from the first season that block the exit, she just sucks, poorly written and not even that cool, I'm not saying this because it's a female (Something i've heard from the community several times as a way to defend her) since one of my favourite is Hange and I like every other female character in the series (Historia, Ymir, Sasha etc..). Objectively WORST character of AoT with no development.

It's not completely Mikasa's fault here, thought her own character doen't have actual depth and originality, it's the Ackerman blood in her that makes her cold hearted, loyal defending machine, and dedicating her life to Eren after he saves her is crazyness. A height of obsession or love for someone. But that's what makes her character so famous.

(manga spoilers, run away my anime-only friends) About Mikasa's 'simplicity' and plot importance, I'm not sure if it really could have been flushed out more. Like, the thing with her headaches and Ymir looking into her head was because Mikasa reminded Ymir of herself, a girl who was a 'slave' to her 'love' who no matter what they did, she would always follow their whims. I think we needed to see this 'stagnant' Mikasa for this Ymir/Mikasa connection to pay off. If this was exposed early on, I don't think I could have been saved for the very end of the show. Mikasa's 'simplicity is really beautiful in that it never changes throughout the entire series, and beautiful in that Mikasa only breaks out of this cycle and becomes FREE when she kills her lover. But yeah, this 'simplicity' certainly comes at the cost of making her character BORING. Mikasa is just a giant simp. I think Isayama could have done a better job with the headaches, introducing them earlier on and maybe having some more inner Mikasa dialogue about whether she should 'let Eren be' or whatever. We sorta had this during Season 2 after Eren gets kidnapped by Reiner and Bertolt... but I think this moment may have came too early? With Season 3 part 1 and part 2 sitting right in-between this kidnapping and Season 4, this moment where Mikasa and Armin reflect on how Eren is always running off on his own feels more disconnected than it should be. We sorta get this with Armin punching Eren at the round table, but maybe having Armin disconnect himself earlier from Eren earlier on would make Mikasa staying with Eren more impactful? Like after they collect Eren from his rogue attack, what if Armin went off on Eren? Yelling at Eren for killing innocent people, families, and kids? Armin asking Eren how he could even do this after what they went through in their own childhood. A moment like this would've been really impactful and impactful for Mikasa if she then quietly tells Armin to stop. Even a little comment from someone telling Mikasa that she's "too clingy to Eren and that it's unhealthy" could have gone a long way.

Spoil if you read this : I use to love Mikasa in the 3 first season 'cause she was someone loyal and lovely with Eren while others characters except Armin, were against him because of his titan or else, but then in the last season she's so disappointed me, I thought that she would always be with Eren even in the worst moments of their lives but what's now ? Just because she had pity more for strangers than for her own people, and just because everyone were all okay for kill Eren she's just follow them and in the end she is the only to killed the man that she "loves" really

If mikasa was a boy and eren was girl, no one would be making such a fuss, I just don't think ppl can see a women character protect a man, cos otherwise she would be praised as a 'good man' for taking care of eren. Anyways, they weren't raised as siblings, they only lived together in that family home for like a year at most and both eren and mikasa like each other; it's more like Mikasa deserves better than eren (a genocidal prick) so her killing him was pretty symbolic. But her ending up with heavan with him was not, but I think maybe God gave her a different eren to be with, idk how she could keep on loving a mass murderer after his death. But this is a messy story, it's politically messy, if eren was just seen as the bad guy till the end, then it would make sense.

Yes Mikasa is an awful character and the only development she got in the anime is her chest size compared to the manga. Add some hype osts and panel shots, and you have people saying "Mikasa is very cool!" I dont remember her being ever relevant to the AOT until she was given a fake importance. Disgusting

I get your points about Mikasa, and on the surface level you are correct that she is simplistic as a character. I totally disagree with you though. If you can't even see what she brings to the story, then it would be hard to take your opinion seriously. There is a reason she is there at the start to Manga and just as important as the Eren and Armin at the end of the manga. You keep saying that Mikasa is always chasing after Eren, but never even once question what Mikasa means to Eren or what she actually represents to him in the story.

I agree and disagree at the same time; I think she's a fantastic character *in theory*, and that she's definitely underutilized and unexplored throughout the series itself (except for suddenly becoming the crux of the entire narrative at the very end, that was a horrible move).

This is why I believe the end of season 4/Attack on Titan was a good ending for MIKASA, maybe not some of the other characters, but mainly Mikasa, She finally realizes that she can live for herself, and chooses to let Eren go.

Anime and manga spoilers! I don't think Mikasa is a bad character. I think we should understand that,when she was a child she witnessed her parents being killed before her eyes, and the only one that helped her was Eren. After that,her new parents(Carla and Grisha)also died,that of course being extremely traumatizing for both her and Eren. The only thing she had left was Eren,and because of the trauma(probably also the promise she made to Carla)she became overprotective and obsesed with Eren from the fear of losing him as well.(ik she also loves him but that just adds to it) Also,in the scene where Eren told Mikasa he hates her(i see that you thing he really meant what ge said),it was actually just a part of his plan. He wanted to make his friends stop trying to help or follow him so that,when he turned against the world they would be seen as the heroes in the end. He wanted them to stop carrying about him from the fear of losing them.After he beat Armin,you can actually see he was holding back tears,meaning he was just acting. His plan was to have them kill the Founding titan so that they could live normal lives without being discriminated.(i think its a good ending but it seems thats very controversial amongst fans) The thing with Aot is that all the characters are so well written.Unlike most shows,in Snk,all of them have their own backstories,purpose and characteristics and none of them is good nor evil(thats what i really love about it). All of them are trying to do the right thing and are driven by their traumas and dreams. I might be wrong but i believe that Mikasa is a well written character and that her obsession for eren is justifiable.

Look up the long dream sequence to even get a better understanding of her character. Mikasa is the direct antithesis of Ymir. Mikasa rejects royalty, Ymir accepts it, mikasa is able to let go, Ymir is not, Ymir blindly serves king fritz, mikasa does not, she ends up killing eren.

Mikasa wants to protect and be with eren that's her disire, we wouldn't be having this subject if Mikasa was a overprotective dad trying to save his son who keeps getting into trouble an is forced to take his life at the end . There situation/position can change but Not every character is meant or needs to have a change of philosophy, and the characters that needed to change did change when it was needed

As a woman, when I first started watching this show, I was so excited and I thought Mikasa would be my absolute favorite character. And she was, especially during the Battle of Trost. She was determined, she showed emotions, she was fighting for everyone, she showed her strong spirit and she was a badass. And even without knowing her Ackerman blood, for some reason, Mikasa's OPness never felt forced. That's one of the reasons I liked her. I usually don't like OP female characters with no personality other than being badass because it feels so forced to score points with women (if this is the right wording, I don't know, my English isn't that great). But Mikasa wasn't like that, her OPness wasn't her defining trait, it was just part of her. But then we were introduced to other characters like Levi, Hange, Erwin... Jean was showing signs of character development. But Mikasa was just... there. She showed some signs of development like showing more respect to her superiors like Levi or caring about her squadmates like Jean etc. But those were really small steps compared to other characters or compared to the bigger picture. They weren't all that... significant. In season 3, when Ackerman reveal happened I was so excited because at that point I was starting to give up on Mikasa but I hoped this would change things. Imagine being part of a clan like that and finding out there is a possibility of you being related to your Captain and you both sharing some sort of power? Who wouldn't sit down and discuss this?! Well... Mikasa and Levi. Literally... no interactions other than "yo you are an Ackerman, right? Nice, good, me, too, bye". What's really disappointing is, it usually feels like Mikasa has nothing of her own. It's like this anime doesn't allow Mikasa to have her own connections, friends and story. God forbid she sits down and talks to Levi about their clan and bond with him or bond with her squadmates for real. Nope, her entire personality her story her EVERYTHING has to be about Eren. Even her relationship with Armin often felt forced like they were only hanging out because they had a mutual friend. That's why they never felt like a trio to me. So, yes, as a woman, her character really disappoints me. When people praise the female characters in AoT I don't understand why Mikasa is included because they did this girl really dirty. Like, despite loving Eren so much, her love even feels strange sometimes. For example, she talks about this old Eren in Season 4 when Eren didn't really change much at all. I know all about denial but especially in manga it felt like she didn't even know the man she loved and had some weird obsession idk (SPOILERS) At least her freeing herself from her devotion to Eren by killing him and thus freeing Ymir, too is a good way to end her story. She still loves him and that's good, too, but she's also free of that devotion and she can actually love him more "freely" and this is even better. I still love her so much but... like... the wasted potential is pissing me off, apart from just her arc and character development, the fact that she wasn't allowed to have more meaningful interactions with other characters is JUST UGHH

I really wanted to like her character but sigh... what a disappointment the whole way through. There were so many opportunities to give her some very interesting ans brave character development. One of the many wasted things in this series...

She's the reason the ending was underwhelming and I'm tired of pretending it wasn't her fault. Such a flat character that could've had so much more expansion. I kind of liked her in the first season and she had potential, but Isayama just never tapped into it

Isayama doesn't know how to write women period. The fact that the anime version was he trying to fix thing .The levi's squad got more screen time, because he felt they were flesh-out enough in the manga. Means the levi's squad > mikasa few remaining traits of mikasa in the manga. Dude didn't give a fuck or he would did her so dirty in the end.

Mikasa has been through so much throughout her life and aot. One interesting thing about her is that when she is fighting Ymir, she tells Historia “i don’t get to care for so many people my enemies made that clear years ago” referring to her family being killed. Mikasa is very kept to herself, and quiet, but we see how overprotective she is of the people she loves specially Eren, and what she says to Historia it’s interesting because she means that she doesn’t form that many bonds with many people considering that many people in her life such as the yeagers or her family were killed brutally. She keeps her circle small but in return she is extremely overprotective of the people she loves. We see how much Sasha’s death affects her, to the point that she was the only one at her grave. Mikasa is strong but she fears loosing the ppl she loves, which goes back to what she experienced in her childhood. Also her love for Eren is very controversial, but i see it this way. Eren not only save her from being trafficked but killed the ppl who killed her parents. He also taught her how to live, in the sense that thanks to him her ackerman powers were activated. Mikasa’s devotion and love for him goes much deeper than some silly crush, she is thankful he saved her, gave her a home, and also she thinks he is responsible for the reason she is so strong. As we see Mikasa takes pride many times on being strong. He gave her reasons to live. Mikasa just wants to live a peaceful life with the people she loves, her goals are not being the strongest(even tho she takes pride in being strong) she just wants to live a peaceful life that was constantly taken from her. nevertheless i wish Isayama really explores her inner thoughts or arcs exploring her trauma or her relationship with her Ackerman powers. Also the fact how the studios took a lot of her lines and replaced them with “eren” . Also she starts showing a lot of respect for her superiors like Levi in the manga, which we see some development, because she goes from disobeying orders to trusting those around her.

If the writer of attack on titan wasn't sexist: Mikasa wouldn't be in love with Eren, she'd just be protecting her longing for a family onto Eren then realizing that's what it was about, and she'd get some personal goals. Like maybe, finding her other family? Where they came from? Anything? Exploring her connection to Levi because they're like, related apparently? Historia would have a backbone and wouldn't just like, go along with what people tell her and wouldn't have been sidelined as the RULER OF THE FUCKING NATION. Ymir wouldn't have been casually killed offscreen and NOT addressed later. Annie would have ACTUALLY BEEN CONFRONTED ABOUT THE FACT THAT SHE BUTCHERED LEVI SQUAD AND COUNTLESS PEOPLE. Instead it's dead ass ignored when Levi should totally have beef with her. Also she wouldn't have been literally shelved until season 4s last few episodes. Ymir the FUCKING GODDESS IS ONLY MOTIVATED BY LOVE FOR A MAN. WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL. The moment Eren said it's because Ymir was in love with that disgusting pig king- like they don't even make it realistic like he's not even nice to her or anything he's only horrible to her. She had so much potential and it was gutted.

Mikasa is one of my favorite characters but i hate how she was written in the anime. But at least she started to have doubts about Eren in seson 4 . I respect her Courage to stand up for humanity and kill Eren and i understand how she felt when he was destroying the world. The thing i hate the most about her is that she Has no personality, not manny atachments and is madly in love with Eren. If you changed some of the things about her she would be a pretty good character

Isn't she that way because Ymir chose Mikasa to escape her own pain... Ymir was a slave to King Fritz... she couldn't escape, but throughout Mikasa she gave expression to it.... oh maybe I read between the lines too much
