Mikasa joined the military and became a strong soldier because she wanted to protect Eren at all costs. Initially, she had no intention of enlisting in the Survey Corps or helping Eren do so, but she proved to him that he couldn't achieve his goals without her. Meanwhile, Eren wanted to be Mikasa's protector, as he had been when they first met, so it wasn't easy for him to accept her help or depend on her. In time, he will learn that Mikasa has never seen him as someone inferior or weak, and he will come to accept her help and protection.

7:33 Even after Eren's death and even in her inner dialogue, Mikasa was still lying to herself about not being in love with Eren and loving him only as "family". Mikasa is sure that Eren would reject her, as she thinks he sees her as family too and since he doesn't welcome her protection and care. Eren explained to Mikasa a thousand times that he doesn't want to be treated like her little brother or her child, but she thinks he is rejecting her love.

This makes a lot of sense specially after finishing the series. Just like our main characters, the love of Mikasa for Eren also evolves and matures along with her attitude, going from a "childish" (still cute) Mikasa that barely knows her feelings to an adult Mikasa who can handle a relationship with Eren.

@@lifegoeson1007 He said he wanted to be strong as Mikasa, Reiner and Levi. Isayama said he created Eren as someone not blessed with natural talent. He is also a proud guy. So Mikasa's behavior only reinforces his personal image of weakness and failure.

There's this line in Akatsuki no requiem: "I offer a bouquet to the unfulfilled promise" Mikasa's placing flowers on Eren's grave also means that she didn't keep /couldn't keep her promise.

0:06 The amount of firewood Eren collected vs Mikasa's... Carla gets mad at him and it's his fault, as Eren spends part of his time sleeping under his tree or fighting the neighborhood brats. Carla even noticed that Mikasa gave him part of the firewood she collected.

She doesn’t talk much but when she does it’s so impactful. I wish they would have kept some of her lines in seasons 2 and 3 in particular from the manga too because she seems less attached to him there

In Season 2, they added Eren and Mikasa talking about her scarf, Mikasa helping Eren with his ODM gear and with his cloak and Mikasa and Eren training in a snowy mountain, but I think her attachment to him has the same strength in the manga and the anime. In Season 2, they cut the scene when Eren apologized to her (for her broken ribs) and she replied that it was okay. In Season 3, they cut Mikasa taking care of Eren during Hange's experiments, Hange teasing Mikasa in front of Eren and Eren being dense as usual, Mikasa touching him and telling him that he was still too weak and that he shouldn't exert himself. In Season 3, they cut her saying that she raised Armin and that she "always noticed something was wrong with that shorty" (Levi). They added some scenes when Eren and Mikasa got back to their house and also added Mikasa recognizing Grisha's handwriting (until Volume 22). I think they gave her more scenes than she had in the manga, but they cut scenes of Mikasa showing her love for Eren too

@@childishisnotachild7277 I noticed by accident. I was paying attention only to Mikasa's eyes. It seems to me this is the Ackerman family crest because this is not the knife the bandit used to kill Mr. Ackerman. That knife had nothing on its blade. Eren used two knifes that he brought with him. Maybe he tied the knife Mr. Ackerman was using to peel the potatos to the broom, but Eren and Mikasa used this bird/Ackerman (?) knife to kill the three bandits. You can see the golden bird when Eren was hiding the knife behind his back to kill the first bandit. Just to mention, there was an ax on the wall next to Mikasa in her house, but her mother didn't have time to remember that and took the scissors. She ended up being killed by another ax. Mr. Ackerman was holding a knife and was killed by a knife.

"Records do show Ackermans awakening to their power when their survival instinct is triggered." I think it was her survival instinct awakening her Ackerman power once again. Ymir cannot control Mikasa precisely because of her Ackerman and Azumabito blood. Ackermans, Azumabitos and other bloodlines are immune to the Founder's power.

@@shinenur28 SPOILERS I can tell you that Eren lied. Zeke denied that this host thing exists (Volume 32 Chapter 130 "The Dawn of Humanity"). It will likely be animated in the last episode of this Season.
