Huge respect for Mike Dawson. Such a sincerely and knowledgeable guy. He’s been kind to me despite the fact that I’m nobody in the world of drums and I’ve learned a ton from him. Such an amazing setup here!
Mike's work with MD was amazing. He's one of few I trust to give an impartial review on a product, verses all the pay-to-play YT types. In a perfect world he'd be the owner/publisher of MD.
Mike, thank you so very much for taking your time to introduce us to Mr. Dawson. His presentation was not only entertaining but also so informational. ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Within the first 30 seconds I knew you were in Pennsylvania just by looking at the houses on the block. Btw, I’ve watched a lot of Mike’s live drum videos the past few years but since I haven’t been a regular reader of modern Drummer I had no idea he was one of the editors. Great drummer and he gets great sounds!
Good stuff Mike, another Legend in the Industry! I'm new to drums so I feel right at home that I already feel like I need 5 more snare drums and extra cymbals, with a different sound! lol
I think what you're speaking of is actually coasters. They are in there to keep the snare wires from rattling in the room when not in use. You pry it between the wires and head so when the head vibrates (Sympathetically while other drums are played) it doesn't make any sound.
@malonedrum yup they played a couple of my high school jazz fest back in the day and I almost went there for a hand percussion degree. it's crazy how many higher learning schools are closing
Nice interview with Milne Dawson I used to read his gear reviews in MD. So sad that that magazine went down I guess mags are a thing of the past now Really no drum magazines made anymore in this country
