Mike: 'why do you think church has produced over the last ten years such a massive influx of great drummers?' Im not African-American but maybe its because our black-church playing brother (& sister) drummers are insanely creative, gifted & innovative with high standards and expectations of excellence. Maybe its because they come from a culture of creative innovation and excellence, maybe the church musical setting concentrates such individuals into what are essentially centres of excellence? There are mainstream centres of musical education and excellence like Berklee etc, then you got these monsters being raise up in their own centres of excellence receiving their own education from their elders/peers etc. What ever the reason we the world are greatful for the gifts and creative treasures and talents of our African American brothers and sisters, we are enriched by their treasures - all of us throughout the world.

...one more thing Mike - love your vids and playing but don't get it twisted my friend - gospel drumming started in the black churches - you gotta give credit where credit is due and not misappropriate what these guys came up with - Afro-American church players came up with this stuff, not speedmetal guys or anyone else. Lineal drumming and speed were not new concepts but nobody.... I mean nobody was playing or thinking about chops quite how we do now, before the advent of Gospelchops.com and other platforms for gospel drummers. Credit where it is due.
