“Dark” changed my life, it reminded me that I’m inadequate in so many ways, yet I feel worldlier for having seen it; like I was let in on a massive secret that will always continue to unfold, long after the show has ended. It had SO much more depth than anything else on television. The “Dark” narrative was married perfectly to the music in the program. I can’t imagine it will ever be matched. You’re grand for recognizing it on your channel- cheers!
@@MikeandGinger the deezer session is wonderful. and if you want to treat yourself with one hour of elegant perfection, check out her performance live at the philharmonie de paris, here especially the version of "dorian", you'll find it in my playlist "concerts"
She told in one interview that her husband, Alex Bruel Flagstad, made the video for this song. She also explained that: "Alex knew the song was about love, and he knew that one of the ideas I had for the album had to do with new technology. So his interpretation of the song, he wanted to put in images of this technology-driven and also industrialized love world, so he filmed me and wanted me to look like a robot. He told me to sing sort of like a robot, and he used a lot of images of highways and also some really great pictures underwater. We all sort of created this emotional world that has become industrialized and technological in a way."
Riverside, Fuel to Fire, Dorian, Camera's Rolling, Island of Doom... Agnes Obel is a genius. I especially love Mary from the Citizens of Glass album. The melody switch halfway through that becomes the fade out is goosebumps material. Kate Bush is my absolute favorite, but Agnes quickly placed herself next to Kate. These two women are genius.
she is so damn good! her modified ghosly voice gives me shivers in areas not supposed for this. this song is smashing live, but this video does it as well! nice reaction
I've been waiting for someone to react to the song, so thank you! I was on the verge of ditching Dark, but this song with that montage in S1E3 immediately made me change my mind and so glad I did. I listen to this song at least once weekly.
Her performance at Philharmonie de Paris is amazing. Run Cried the Crawling is a highlight if you love vocals. The anchor song Stretch Your Eyes is great too!
Haunting - perfect for a creepy crime show. Some of the best TV show music IMHO: Battlestar Galactica reboot by Bear McCreary: all of it. There's a fantastic live concert on RU-vid that they did. True Blood theme ('I Want To Do Bad Things With You') by Jace Everett. Amazingly, given how perfect it is, it wasn't written for the show: they used it as a placeholder for the 'the sort of thing we want' and never found anything better. Heart Of Darkness by Eric Clapton (the original British 1985 version, not the Mel Gibson remake). perfect balance of drama, pain and pathos. Harry's Game by Clannad (1982). Harry's Game was a bleak thriller about espionage and political violence in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. The theme, with a lowering drone below a mournful Celtic lyric, perfectly captured the mood. Space 1999 Season 1 by Barry Gray. Just to lighten it up a bit, I think this is one of the best lightweight action/adventure themes & title sequence ever put together.
I had the pleasure of attending an Agnes Obel concert in Vienna, Austria a week before the Covid restrictions began. A fantastic experience, not a great show, just music. The whole thing in a small hall with maybe 300 other listeners. Everyone was very quiet, everyone listened to the music. And the 4 girls played really great, so that the memory of the concert can accompany me through this quiet time. And if you like the music of Agnes then you should definitely give Aldous Harding a try, a great artist from New Zealand. Imagining My Man, Stop Your Tears or Zoo Eyes are definitely worth a listen
Can you react to any of these three songs off of her new album Myopia. The three songs in no particular order are Broken sleep, Island of Doom and Camara's rolling
Good reaction. 😀 Agnes Obel makes some lovely music for sure. I am surprised no-one has yet suggested her most popular song (by a long mile), "Riverside". Just checked that it has more than double the number of listenings on Spotify than the 2nd ranked, which is in fact "Familiar" (just edging September Song"). It really is a fantastic tune, so if you want to hear her most famous song, I suggest you react to/check out "Riverside". hannibal was spectacular, madds mikkelson (sp lol) was so amazing in that. i already have always viewed dr lecter as the protagonist in all of his stories, but that truly cemented it, will graham is a fool at best, to throw away such a precious gift.
I always loved the soundtrack to the Serenity TV series. L😍VE the theme track! But my all time favorite soundtrack has to be from Conan the Barbarian!!!
Firefly TV series, Serenity movie. Funnily enough I've just come from another video wherhe somebody who's never seen it is reacting to Firefly. Totally agree about Conan: that music is glorious! A few years back, they finally sorted out all the screwed-up rights issues and recorded a decent version of it: I went straight out and bought it on CD.
Thank you for this video, I just found your channel and love Agnes Obel! Please listen to Norah Jones playing Black Hole Sun in the Detroit Fox Theatre, a week after Chris Cornell played there, 5 days after he passed - it is a truly moving and beautiful performance.
Agnes Obel's Paste Studio set is wonderful, Won't You Call Me, Island of Doom, and Broken Sleep. Her earlier work is great too, Just So is a really fresh and lovely song that transports me back to childhood, as does Riverside. If you love cello don't miss Fivefold, it is a short 2 minute instrumental with a mood that lasts for days.
@@MikeandGinger Do it!! I don't know if the sound quality is good enough for a react but the Paste studio set is great to watch. The studio versions are just gorgeous though - not that you'd expect less from dear Agnes!
Has society really come to this? Watching people's reactions to things. :) 99% of the time, my thoughts on that question are a resounding "NO", but in the case of you both, your appreciation for the nuance is appreciated.
Hi guys, may i recommend a couple of suggestions for review, i think you may like Max Richter - On the nature of daylight video version. Or perhaps Rachael Yamagata - Elephants.
I find it curious that you say that you focus on the characters and not on the song, the opposite happened to me, maybe because I was not watching the series as soon as I heard the song it was like a revelation
Ever since you showed "The Curse" I've been listening to a lot of Agnes's music. She is just so good This is also very good "Agnes Obel - Broken Sleep (Official Video)" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9-b85ngtQO4.html
