Mike Gundy should not have said what he said but I believe Doug you are being naïve. Let’s believe his number 1000 times it is not that absurd and I can see millions and millions of Americans doing this on a regular basis. The easiest way to see this is in sports Arenas, stadiums a bunch of people drinking then leaving the stadium easily. You can see 3 to 4 beers in an hour. That’s a light work for a lot of people.

Isn't the kid 20 years old? Last I looked, you have to be 21 to drink. So, underage drinking, and driving. Why didn't Gundy address that?

Its college. Ppl will always drink underage. Its celebrated in culture and the games promote drinking. I think you have to move players hours away from campus to avoid this

This needs to be at BARE MINIMUM a public reprimand for Gundy, from the school. You cannot make comments encouraging and excusing drunk driving. BTW, Gordon is not allowed to drink at all. He is under age. Gundy’s reaction is terrible on every level.

First I am a victim of DUI losing 3 family members to it. I do not have an issue with what Gundy said. He sounds like someone that wasn't sure what to say. Think about this. Should every regular citizen be punished by their employer for getting a DUI? The cost of a simple DUI can be up to 10K. He will have to install a breathalyzer on any car he drives. He will have to go to court, pay fines and attend classes and a Victims Impact Panel. He isn't walking away free from this. It will remain on his record for 10 years. If he gets another DUI in any state in that time, it will be a felony. Do I condone what he did, NO! But do I think he deserves to be punished by every person in the USA for what he did, hell no. As for Gundy, he should have thought more of what he said, and I think he SHOULD attend the Victims Impact Panel with Ollie.

For those of you outside the Oklahoma State University family, Doug was recently pass over for the head basketball coaching job that he has sought for several years. The decision how to handle Ollie Gordon was a joint decision with the Oklahoma State administration. This sounds like a little pay back to me.

I think the challenge coaches now have if they punish a player too hard, they will just jump into the transfer portal. It is not like the old days when players transferred, they had to sit out a year before they could play. I also understand what the coach was saying. The reality is so many people go out to dinner or maybe a party and had too much to drink and they think they are fine. Most of times it isn’t an issue unless a cop sees them driving and can tell they are driving impaired or they are in a situation where they have to make a quick reaction, but their reflexes are too slow which causes an accident that could kill or injure someone. The coach should had suspended the player for two games so he would understand he put himself and others on the road in a dangerous situation. The player is lucky it was just a DUI. If the player thinks it is just a joke because he has the funds to pay the fines and the insurance premium increase, he could continue his reckless behavior.

Whenever issues arise, realistic solutions should be involved. Players will drink underaged and they will fight with their partner. Assigning roles to your players would help. Doug, not everything is this or that. Black and white. If you love your team, you soon will find that out.

Most people probably 95% of men make stupid dumb mistakes when we're young the Smart ones learn from their mistakes p the really small ones learn from other people's mistakes everything you just said about Doug you've probably seen and been the same things he was just so good at basketball in college people knew about it if I had a son and he was going to grow up to be as good in basketball is Doug and also become a really good person like Doug and a good father to his children and have a really good job and seem to be a really good husband that does his best to live in truth Samuel fredette most people would love to have a son that had the characteristics of Doug as a human being wise man that has gotten smarter that's what made King David the example when he said he went before God and said I did this I'm wrong he didn't blame anybody else and that's what Doug is done admitted that he did something wrong just like King David did if you don't know what I'm talking about with King David read the Bible

Gundy was way too nonchalant about the matter. Does he not recall what happened at UGA in early 2023? I'm not saying Gordon should receive stiffer consequences than any other guy. But there should be appropriate disciplinary action by the team in addition to what the courts decide.
