Nichols talking about what a movie REALLY means and how an audience doesn't understand disliking what a character does plot wise does NOT mean they have to dislike the entire film - spot on. But the part about critics and the "I saw it coming" aspect of awards for art is 1000% correct.

Just ADORE Spamalot. Shame it didn't really hit this time around. I still want the film!

I love that in the “All Alone” song Tim C sings it’s actually my old friend Micheal McGrath, playing the sidekick, who makes the song funny. And of course because he’s not a star they never mentioned him here. Typical. Lol

These comments, observations, by Nichols are as true for American theater as for Spanish or French or Italian or any theater at all.

Mike Nichols had the best wigs of any man I've ever seen. Must have cost a fortune.

He talks and thinks like Meryl Streep: no surprise there! The only difference is that Meryl is much more expressive and theatrical, she's actress but otherwise, their analysis are similar and amongst others they talk slowly, they build (or built) their sentences, they breathe similarly ...

There was a public TV series -- something like "Who do you think you are?" Turns out Streep and Nichols have distant family connection.

A sad thing about Charlie Rose is that with all his interviewing talent, he could not keep his hands to himself. He had to be dominant and controlling.

its like that with all men who think they have power. Minute they don't, they shrivel up and die. Wish that would apply to Trump!

At 58:01 Mike says, "Let's talk for a minute about Dr. Dean." Does anyone out there know who he's referring to? Thanks.

He is talking about Presidential candidate Howard Dean who was destroyed by his "Dean Scream."

Mike Nichols: "I started out being funny but when I reached the age of forty I was afflicted by Crohn's disease and the gas that emanated from my sphincter muscle entered my nasal passages and penetrated through the skull cavity causing a degradation of my comedic lobes leading to me being dull and phlegmatic."
