Girlfriend: come to bed honey, i went to victoria's secret today.... Me: Save the panties for another day...... i gotta listen to Mike Orlando another hundred and fifty times...
I cannot believe how underrated Mike is. He manages to shatter the bar of being a great guitarist and throw it up ten feet on a daily basis. He's just so damn fast and precise. And at the same time, he plays it to music that actually sounds great and fits, making a pretty awesome song out of all of it. Kinda makes you wonder how often he breaks strings, though. Especially with those bends.
This video is the first time I saw this guy playing. The first time in YEARS I just sat down listening just giggling of joy of the awesomeness displayed. I must catch him live when he tours Sweden. This was the best guitarist I've seen in years.
You my good sir, are now one of my top 5 guitarist, I absolutely love Adrenaline Mob, and your vids on here pushed you up in my 5. You're right next to Vai and Satriani for me, great work! Hopefully I can play like this one day. Much respect.
I have my favorite Drummer I have my favorite Singer I have my favorite Bassist After many years... I have now found my favorite guitarist, that is Mike Orlando. :-) You probably remember me on Twitter LOL!
Kudos to Mike Orlando! He's probably the quickest guitarist I've heard in a long time. And the drum track kicks butt too. That's drummer extraordinaire Steve Tobin from Peter Steele's Carnivore. He actually drums on most of the 'Sonic Stomp I' cd. I highly recomend this cd! .
***who here speaks English, translate Uncle!
What the hell just happened here....that Rocked!! That sounds like what I always hear in my head when I reach for my guitar.......... but it never comes out quite like that......lol That was Kick Ass!!
@vibratingstring I know right? I just wanted to see what the amp sounded like and I got this awesome song and performance. I admire the efficiency of his left hand, I have been working hard trying to get myself to use more muscles instead of just fingers and this is more proof it is worth it to keep working hard.
I hear Satch, Vai, Elliot Easton, Neal Schon, Adrian Vandenberg in there. Maybe a touch of Vinnie Moore and Dave Shankle. How'd you do that? Oh, wait, I just heard a bit of Schenker. Wow.
all i can say I've been listening for some yrs now,,took lessins from Greg howe for many yrs and you have inspired me to step up my picking game/approach..Wow..kick ass brother!!!
@36POINTBLANK Thats a Vigier Excalibur, seems like an Excalibur Original to me... In the official page you can find this exact one in the Original Excalibur Colors page... Natural alder with rosewood fingerboard. Im more a maple fretboard guy, but this one is beautiful!!!!
@zkkrlz I used to study classical guitar with this old man who played so fast that it looked like someone pressed the IRL fast forward button. It's weird, but it's not sped up. It's pure badassery.
He picks like Randy Rhoads did (that's a compliment) because many of us - bad habits maybe? tend to rest our palm naturally even when not muting. Rhoads, for me, was the first one I saw play with his pick hand off completely like Orlando does - if you don't play that way, then try it - it's not easy. If you are/were lazy like me and self taught (and I am a bad teacher plus I don't like listening to the teacher:-) then I never learned to play like this. I do now, but it took some work. Just sayin
Congrats on the new gig with Portnoy, I'm kinda sad when MP described the brand of music that you'll be playing. I'd like to see MP go all MegaDave and make a band trying to top his former band. Still though, looking forward to the new stuff.
