WHERE CULTURE. MEETS CRAFT.
Murmur 83 : Mike Patton "Forever '22"
May 14, 2018
WORLD PREMIERE : Mike Patton. We are honored to both present the World Premiere of a track from Mike's unforgettable score to the film "1922" -- a script adapted from the novella by Stephen King -- and to talk cinephilia with one of the great living polymathic plumbers. To be able to visit Movie Dorkdom with Mike is as humbling as it is rare. Yet, though Dorkdum certainly has its privileges, can you love something too much be able to make it your vocation? Mike is living and scoring proof to the contrary. Perhaps you have to love it to do as well as he has for so long and in so many formats. Even plumbers love their pipes.

Thank you. His voice is genuinely annoying the way he's going through all of this.

I think Mike Patton is the only person who would say Mike Patton isn't an artist. He's like a musican's musician. It's funny how he isn't really mainstream, yet virtually every famous musician knows who he is, and cites him as an influence. Even Dave Mustaine said he listens to From Out of Nowhere every morning, just to inspire him. Devin Townshend said he learned how to sing, screaming along to Angel Dust.

jan vanderlief I know right? It's baffling how more people aren't aware of his work. I've had the exact same thought before, wondering how it's possible that most every musician (within the same spectrum) can rave about what a major influence he's been to their own work, yet you'll still get a raised eyebrow from people when you mention his name in a conversation. I don't get it. I just don't see how someone can be a fan of music, and not have heard of him. Or at least heard about maybe one of his projects. (After re reading that last sentence I think I may be starting to understand why some people have told me they think Patton fans are a bit elitist, lol! 😆😃😁)

Mike Patton is everything and nothing. His musical influence is in everything, but nothing can possibly sound like him.

He said in another interview that there is a second Lovage album COMPLETED for years but it hasn't been released. Something to do with Dan. Who knows. Imagine all the stuff we may never hear because it seems "less than" to the creators. Who is to say?
@rakrakrakrak
@rakrakrakrak 3 года назад
@@NobodyCaresALot Dan released another project called "Got A Girl" with himself and Mary Elizabeth Winstead doing vocals. It's very good, but every time I listen to it I can't help but think that these are Lovage songs with the wrong people singing them. I wonder if they actually are re-recorded songs from the second Lovage album you mentioned.

I'm looking for a 60's? composer that Patton mentioned in some interview. I skimmed through this one, and I didn't notice him it, but if I remember correctly, it has a greenish cover, with an island picture and sound. I know that's vague, but any help would be appreciated 👍
@Malocchio
@Malocchio 2 года назад
Do you remember what style of music it was?
@dimebag667
@dimebag667 2 года назад
@@Malocchio I believe it was a 60's instrumental, with a sort 'island' vibe'. I know that isn't much to go off of, but I'm just guessing. I would say, think of a relaxing feeling, while on the beach at night. I feel like he was talking about 60's composers as well. Very similar to this conversation. Thanks for trying

@@Malocchio I might have found it! Les Baxter - Caribbean Moonlight. I probably threw you off saying the album cover was green, when it's blue. What would you call this type of music?
@Malocchio

@@dimebag667 Nice! Les Baxter is amazing, love that shit. That would most definitely be the "Easy Listening" genre.
