Absolutely a fact. Mangini is a great drummer but he can't write like Portnoy, and doesn't have half the showmanship. I didnt realize how much i missed it until i saw him again with Petrucci.
@@selim6033 lol... Portnoy liked to chant in songs which I always found cringe 😅 Labrie would be soaring in melody when Portnoy would start to chant or rap in the background, #cringe = I'm not a fan of rap/rock, a la, Linkin Park, Limp Biskit 😂
people when portnoy playing a simple drumsolo: wow amazing people when mangini playing an unbelievable drumsolo: he's good drummer, but i really miss portnoy. portnoy is dreamtheater
Portnoy, and he is my favorite drummer, is not that good at drum solos. Fact. Chops are great…but a drum solo needs to be musical and very few people can pull that off. Portnoy solos for other drummers.
And John all the way up in tears of joy meaning :" dear my brother Mike is the living legend, he should join us again because that’s what it means pure entertainment and I miss it so bad ".
100% agree. Peart was so good at odd timings, but he kinda bores me for some reason. Bonham is considered an all time great because of the band he was in, not because of himself as a drummer. They both influenced a TON of great drummers though, including Portnoy, so that part cannot be argued.
Here's the thing, MP wouldn't say he's "better" than either of those guys and would probably go out of his way to insist he's not. What's more is it's actually true, he's not really half as physical with the drums as either Peart or Bonham (frankly watching either of those guys simply operated the snare drum alone should be a pretty big clue) and the tunes MP participates in, aren't ingrained into the zeitgeist of the culture like Zep or Rush. Love him, but he's one of the greats, and a favorite, but with respect the craft and the history, he's not the best ever. And that "people only like Bonham because of Zep"... yeah, no. Bonham is probably still the most individually revered drummer among drummers.
HAHAHAHHA!!! That's some funny shit. Take a look at Colaiuta, Phillips, Sucherman, Donati, Bissonette, Garstka, Lang, Cobham, Harrison, Mangini, Minnemann, Mangini, S. Smith, Chambers, C.Palmer to name a few. Mike's good at what he does. But the best ever? Open ur eyes AND ears. Put all these guys on a kit with 1 tom and 1 floor tom w/out a double pedal and they will make him look like a beginner. His double pedal is his crutch.
@@nokiaairtel5311 Hear me out tho. You're posting this shit on MP's youtube page. I get it. You like Mangini more. Comments like that are way more welcome over on Mike Mangini's youtube page . That's all man. P.S.: Sorry about the caps. Looked up after typing and saw them and just decided to let it go.
@@BeanieK1 This is a page about Portnoy. NOT his page. Mangini is a better drummer in every sense of the word. Liking DT w/Portnoy is understandable because that's all many ppl know. But the whole, "Mangini is a robot. He can't write." is a joke. Go watch The Alien video's Mangini put up. If you are going to say that if Portnoy came up with these parts you would think it's terrible, ur full of shit. The only reason ppl started calling Mangini a robot is because he's way more technical, Skilled, educated than MP and can do shit with 1 hand and 1 foot than MP can do with 2 of each. So then it was, "Portnoy has great feel. Mangini's a robot." It's all pretty funny.
