In my opinion, this is the SEC power rankings based on Roster Talent, Roster Depth and Coaching Staff: 1. Georgia 2. Alabama 3. Texas 4. Oklahoma 5. Missouri 6. Tennessee 7. Ole Miss 8. Texas A&M 9. Auburn 10. LSU 11. Kentucky 12. Florida 13. South Carolina 14. Arkansas 15. Mississippi State 16. Vanderbilt In my opinion. Nothing else matters other than how good the team is. In my experience, the better teams should beat the lesser teams. Although upsets do happen.
Hey SEC Mike, you want to know why OU got a harder schedule then Texas, because of their winning percentage was way better then Texas over the last 10 years. No one said at OU they wanted an easy schedule stop. SEC has to adjust to OU as well. OU would also have almost as much nattys as Bama if they "claimed" their natty titles.
If Auburn starts 5-0 including a win over OU then why would we assume they finish 3--4. OU is better than Mizz, UK, and TAMU. if they start 5-0 they could easily end up 10-2 or maybe 9-3
Carolina will be crushing a lot of hopes and dreams this year. Most underrated SEC team by miles. Defense will be nasty and deep at every level. Running back room is loaded. O-line will be vastly improved (how could it not?). Sellers gets to lean on that Defense and a stable of running backs.
Not if you consider the non-con slate. UF’s lineup of Miami, FSU, and UCF better than anyone on OU’s non-con schedule. I would, however, listen to any argument for OU’s SEC slate being more difficult than UF’s.
Our schedule is only tough if we lose those games. If we win those games, they won't say we are good; they will say they were wrong about those tough games.
@@Tijuanabill if OU wins 10+ games with that conference schedule, they’ll deserve all the kuddos that come their way. Despite my dislike for OU, the reports of their imminent failure in the SEC are greatly exaggerated.
Oklahoma schedule is 7.5 wins and I got them going 7-5, possibly 8-4. Tough schedule first year for our new buddy. Mean that sincerely I like the Sooners and I like Texas too. Those 2 great programs mean more great games I welcome them. Don’t believe the negativity you guys can compete real good. I know I’ve been a SEC fanatic 64 years. Y’all will win a lot especially Texas
You made some sense until the end. The recentcy bias that ignores 50 years of Texas football, is fascinating. Do you guys not have like schedule results or something? Do you not have a method of looking at more than last year? Here is how it goes, with Texas. They have a good year, then they puff their chests out, quit lifting weights, quit going to class, and quit watching film. Then they slowly decline for about 5 years before their fans even notice. Then the boosters start intervening, and trying to run the locker room, creating a bunch of disarray. They fire a coach, maybe two. Then at the first sign of promise, they declare "they are back", and the cycle repeats, but more quickly, as they churn through coaches.
What does that even mean? Every team has to earn it, every year. Why would Texas be any different? What that statement really means, is you are unwilling to accept that any team that plays outside the SEC, could possibly be good.
SEC seems to have some scheduling issues. Georgia at Texas oops it is on Formula 1 weekend, no hotels available. SEC media days oops the same week as the Republican National Convention. After the assassination attempt, there will be little media coverage outside ESPN. SEC needs to work on that.
The thing about Tennessee, I think they need to scrap the hurry up offense, it doesn’t work against top tier teams and it doesn’t help your defense. Use the continuously running clock to your advantage and slow the game down, turn it into a battle of possessions and I think Tennessee will have a shot against the UGA and Bama’s.
We still got the 4 star freshman qb who could potentially come alive if Nico goes down and nobody knows this offense as well as Moore. I’m definitely not happy with the idea of Nico going down though
You ask what happened to SC.. well when you have a season like they did beating Tennessee and Clemson you get your best players poached by bigger teams. Lost our best RB, TE, DE, and LB to the portal and to teams competing for playoff spots. That’s the problem with a school like SC. We develop players only to lose them to better teams offering more money. Unless they get a handle on the portal and NIL it will be hard for us to compete year in and year out. We’ll just have to hope for that dream season once every five or so years. I’ll just be happy to get back to a bowl this year. People forget that we shouldn’t have lost to Florida. Threw that game away in the final 2 minutes up by 2 scores. Should have been 6-6 and bowling. But that’s neither here nor there now
So what you're saying Mike about Auburn any freezes the fact that he or they will not recruit off of the portal but you need to think think that over because now you're saying that Kirby Smart and Saban that's the way they have recruited.
LSU has faced that exact situation before. In fact it was the 1st time EVER in college football history that a team lost 1st round QB and 2 1st round WRs in same draft. They very NEXT season. YES the VERY NEXT season Tigers won the whole kit and caboodle. Powered by an offense that increased in PPG avg. No other program in the HISTORY can make that claim.
Mike has had some horrible takes, but to say Mark stoops is on the hot seat is wild. The man may not have been able to beat Georgia or Alabama, but who has?? Not many. He has had Kentucky a game away from Atlanta twice, and he doesn't have 5-7, 4-8 years, he almost always has them 7 wins or better every year. Other programs like South Carolina and Florida and Vanderbilt, Auburn, Mississippi State, all would kill for that over the last 6-7 years. And acting like They cant beat ole miss is crazy too, the last two times they played Kentucky bullied them, they just couldn't make a FG to save their lives and lost both games by missing an extra point. So Kentucky is literally two extra points from beating ole miss twice recently. I will say this though, he cant lose to south Carolina, and should be atleast 7-5 again this year. I think they go 8-4, but to say he is on the hot seat is nuts. The way they are recruiting and developing players right now, there is no way mitch will fire stoops.
I don't believe that Oklahoma will dominate the SEC, but I do believe that Oklahoma is much better than #8. I would be shocked to see Oklahoma lose to Tennessee, Auburn, Missouri, and Texas. The only team that I wouldn't be surprised to see Oklahoma lose to is Alabama. The rest of the schedule is very possible for Oklahoma to beat, and I believe that they will. Oklahoma will prove all of the SEC people are wrong, and next year, they will be underrated again, and Texas will be hyped up again even if they don't win a game.
@@Tijuanabill I get why you say that but block it out and check this out UMass beat NM State right and Auburn beat UMass 59-14 so what is that really saying.
As a Kentucky fan, I want to see Kentucky be Elite on the Football Field, but 11th is under rating. 9-3 possible, 8-4 likely, 7-5 not good, 6-6 bad season, 5-7 or worse coach is gone. So at worst, 9th, best 5th. The top 4 are Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss. Florida 11th, Oklahoma 10th.
The Mizzu hype is going to bite a lot of people in the ass when they go 8-4 / 9-3. Which is still a good season but everyone is picking them to go 10-2, 11-1 and play for the SEC championship. Just don't see it happening.
Mike you learn the hard way that Other conferences play good football too. For example, the ACC that you guys laugh at went 7-5 against the SEC last year and the Big Ten won the National Championship And Texas went into Tuscaloosa and kicked the hell out of Nick Saban and Alabama so bad Saban quit! Sooner or later you’re going to have to wake up, especially after you see how good Will Howard is and watch Ohio State win The National Championship this year.
I'm sorry, but you lost me when you said you were a little concerned about South Carolina's RB unit. I guess it's fair to question Rocket's current health status, but that unit is night and day different from last season.
I think people are way too high on Ole Miss. In my opinion they will lose to OU, Georgia and then one of the following: Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina or Florida. I think they're ranked way too high. At least if this was a power ranking. I know it's not. It's a wins-loss ranking. And in that case I get it. They have the easiest schedule in the SEC. But still, there's not a lot to really be impressed with when it comes to the Ole miss team this year. They'll have like the 7th or 8th best talent roster and the 5th or 6th best coaching staff.
.500 coach all but one year. You got lucky last year, and your fans think you have arrived. You aren't a top 10 program, with like 6 four stars on the squad. Expect massive disappointment, if you think your program has elevated above OSU, by beating them in one game.
Mike is a admitted hater of Auburn. He dislikes Hugh personally and chooses to trash his plan at all turns. He says we disregard the portal but we've had two strong portal classes under Hugh. He says highschool recruiting is near pointless, but all the top programs recruit at an extremely high level. I disagree with Mike on his opinions on Auburn, but the only thing we can do is go out and prove him wrong. War Eagle!
@@Tijuanabill I think that is a bit excessive. Dunno who you root for but there has been steady progress out of the team every year out of Drink. COVID year was all sec teams/NA, 2nd year they were getting blown out, 3rd year losing close, 4th year winning close. The roster has the most talent it has ever had and he is one of the tops at getting transfer portal talent. They are a long term player for the future. The problem is only a few teams can lose what Mizzou lost talent wise and resume their play so I have my reservations. That being said, this team is still good enough that 9-3 on this schedule is the base line.
@@ryanh4416 It's fascinating how you guys don't think you WILDLY over achieved last year. Leading up to the season, the recruiting angle being used against you, was that Drink was about to get fired after the season. Now it's just "steady progress". You did more with less last year, than anyone has done in the SEC in quite a while, but losing those players means nothing to the media. Meanwhile, OU has had a better roster than MU, for all of the past 100 years, but people say MU is playoff bound, and OU won't make a bowl game. The logic fail is hilarious to watch play out.
@@Tijuanabill ahh I see. A hurt OU fan. I think everyone sees you appropriately. Your HC isn't the answer. There is a reason your starting QB high tailed it to Oregon. We took your up and coming Guard. I think the offense continues to struggle until you replace Venables. You have a tough schedule as well. 8 wins. Enjoy your season.
@@ryanh4416 It's sort of amusing just how uninformed you are. The whole reason you have Caden Green, is because he didn't want to play guard. He wanted to SIT, and wait for a tackle spot to come up, rather than get in the game as a true freshman, and play guard. You can have him. He doesn't have OU DNA. We are looking for winners and team players. Our QB high tailed it to Oregon, because we pulled his NIL package. Obviously. Like....how do you NOT know that? There isn't enough money in the world, to get a 15th year senior to ride the bench, and DG knew what was coming, so we parted ways amicably. You think our offense has struggled under Venables? Like...pick up the occasional newspaper, magazine, or maybe just use the internet, guy. What are you even talking about??? OU was ranked THIRD nationally in yards per game. MU was 27th. Little brother, you don't have a clue. We are going to whip your asses, and you will be a two digit underdog, by kickoff. I'll be there to watch the look on your faces; I bought my tickets Friday.
may i remember you how the last meeting went ? Dart coudnt complete a pass went way under 60% completion and shit the bed. Defense was non existent. Tell me why Ole Miss is 5 TD´s better now as last season without Judkins.
@@svenkreuzberg2274 Nice to see you again Sven and a HARDY Hotty Toddy to you! To answer your question - go back and look at how beat up Ole Miss was for that game - especially in the trenches - I think we had 4 starting linemen out and a lot of people playing injured. I figure that was 3 TD's at least. Then you add in the upgrades from the portal - another 10 pts, then being at Oxford is another 6 to 7 pt swing from last year. Just made up more than 5 TD's
@@cscottfischer just for you i looked it up. UGA has 5 5 star DB and 5 5 star LB. There is a reason nobody can score on these dudes. They rotate them all 3-4 snaps in and out. UGA reload and Ole Miss, Miss. State, Auburn, Mizzou try to build something. Dont be delusional.
All SEC Mike is doing. Is letting his hate vacate his largest potential market. Once you've lost credibility. There is no reason to watch you or subscribe to you.
@@ssippilandelta4365 LMAO. Vandy is once of the worst teams in the county in any conference, not just the SEC. I get that ppl want to hype the SEC up and they hate Texas, but let’s not be silly. Every team should go into their game confident, they shouldn’t go into a game thinking they’ll lose. That doesn’t even make sense
@@Duzypriicee check this out man Vandy is a sneaky team you never know with them. You remember that 13-1 Notre Dame team Vandy almost beat them, that #4 A&M that went 8-1 Vandy went to Kyle field and the final was 17-12, Vandy scored 38 pts on that LSU natty team, the same Kentucky team that held that 2022 Georgia team to 16pts Vandy beat them and the same Florida team that beat Utah, Vandy beat them so you see what I’m saying
