Cus D'Amato was the first trainer Mike Tyson had, and this is a window into their relationship, before he became champ. This video was Produced & shot by Harry Wiland & Paul Kovac, 1983.
@@trentmclellan1037 Damn that’s crazy. Usually guys who do steroids that long see drastic changes in their physiques. Aside from about a year period around ‘09-2010 where Tyson got fat, his body has looked fairly similar right into his 50’s.
@@trentmclellan1037 what the F are you he never used steroids before 16 he used steroids when he came back after prison because he have to recover his body mass
@@Hello_combat_sports_fans Ohh okay. He must’ve been using them in prison then because when he got out he was jacked. In fact they must give more prisoners than just Tyson steroids given how many of them come outta there all jacked up.
It's a shame Cus didn't see Mike become Heavyweight Champion, they were inseparable at this time. Not only the knowledge that Cus instilled in Mike, but he also taught him to be mindful, Mike lost the racism and hate he grew up with under Cus, and King put it all back, destroying Mike in the process, (along with help from others). It's good to see that despite what Mike's been through, he's still here, wiser and a better person for it.
What racism ...... I bet you say the Holocaust is an extortion racket and to get over slavery but you give bitch on the legacy of racism left by mike Tyson .
Tyson at 16: I'm going to be the best boxer ever Tyson at 40: I'm going to drive around in a van with my adopted daughter, a pigeon and a ghost and solve mysteries
@@nameusertag There is an Animated TV series called Mike Tyson Mysteries where the above daughter and pidgeon, along with Mike are the main characters. Its pretty weird.
@@milanesa5761 Yes he did. But now that I think about this quote more, I think he meant natural talent. Sort of the talent you were born with and not the combination of naturally gifted body and relentless training and hard work. In that sense he is right, he wasn’t born with the talent to automatically become the great boxer he became, he trained his whole life for it too. But to say he had no talent and it is all training is something I would disagree on.
In that regard, everyone has talent, for example Muhammad Ali was exceptional at gauging distance, the "talent" Mike had was that he got into a lot of fights and was very phyiscal at a very young age, creating his incredibly chisled body that we now know of, but in the end you can't really call that talent, there are plenty of heavyweights that are stronger than him that would easily lose because of his skill which he aquired. There are some people that have more "talent" than others, but in the end all that means is that he won't need to train whatever his specific talent is as much. My point is that you can't say he was the most talented boxer in history, he's not even close, but if you say he's the best at boxing in history, well that can be debated.
@@JaguarBST Well I guess you can physically type out whatever you want. I can say I'm the most talented boxer in history but that doesn't make it true.
I saw Mike Tyson at a gas station at about 2am in Hollywood once. He was there just to get a Gatorade or something. It was like seeing a tiger calmly walk in. I just stopped in my tracks, stunned, surprised to see him of course, and watched him walk over to the refrigerator, then over to the register. I said "hey, how's it going". He said "hey".
Tyson had this rage burning in his eyes that no other boxer ever had. When he got into the ring, he was there to dismantle his opponent, not just beat him. It was always a personal fight
He disagrees with that, he has said there were only a couple times he went in to kill someone, and one was a guy who had beat up Ali when he was old and broken down
Even as a 16 year old kid, Tyson already was very well spoken and was able to define the art and discipline of fighting in a few words. Face what you have to face.
i wanted to learn to fight as a young kid. I copied his training and learned a style no one else used like him. i was a short stocky fast lil guy. The man inspired me to believe in myself and do whatever I believed i could. In ny he was a legend before he became the world heavyweight champ
Hoping you got to join your local gym. When I boxed, some of my worst opponents were the short, stocky guys who would move and punch with Tyson’s style
The way a 16 years old Tyson is talking is impressive. People thought he was only a savage, but life MADE him a savage. He was a kind soul like all of us when we are young, then we change...
@@mogenvonbogel7342 how can you be so sure, he still takes steroids, look at his last fight, a 55 year old man can’t look that muscular it’s impossible. He’s always been on something. I mean maybe at 16 is was genetic but after wards he did take steroids
@@allaboutwwe9269 keep limiting yourself people are so quick to say steroids there are many genetic freaks and back then there is no way a 16 year old would take steroids it’s just stupid
My coach recently told me practice makes permanent and it stuck because he explained if m practice dosent neccesarily make perfect because you can practice something wrong. I was sad when Muhamid Ali died and I know Mike Tyson looked up to him as I look up to Mike, I would like to make it to the Olympics and win the gold
You can do it, you can go and win gold, just remember everything in life is more mental than physical. I want to be the best footballer (soccer player) i can be. You will achieve.
@@daevidpp445 find a workout regimen, I’d start with focusing mainly on cardio, watch more boxing vids on things you should get etc, & after you have decent cardio, find a boxing gym. The rest is history.
Bro it’s never too late. Just look at the Paul bros and what inspirations they’ve been. They started 3yrs ago, relatively late in life, and they’re beating not only world champions but the best to ever do it in guys like Floyd Mayweather.
@@sonnyblack0870 Lol....He got slapped up by Floyd...who happened to be 50 pounds lighter than him. But you're right, it's never too late to learn ANYTHING.
at 16: had already been through the rough streets and had horror stories, and was a disciplined motivated competitor Most of us at 16 : We were excited to get our first 10 speed bike
Quite a legend. Very gifted and good physics, but also really hard work on the training area, all that combined and he was unstoppable. Could have been it even longer with no negative forces of life messing up. But it's hard specially for young athlete. In modern day all people use their talents for is to take pics on social media, oh the good old days :)
@@24StandOnBusinessMcMurphy No he wasn't, however retards are always gonna find something that's not even true and use it to hate on the best. Stay mad clown.
Turned 16 not too long ago and seeing mike makes me feel like im going insane, ive wanted to fight for so long but theres just no gym near me or friends to sparr with
…and Trayvon Martin was a 17 year old practiced fighter in peak physical condition when he attacked George Zimmerman and everyone acted like he was just a kid.
If there was one person I wish they would bring back from the dead its D'Amato and then elect him to speaker of house and replace the creature they currently have in that position. Mike looks & talks like a 25 year old at 16, he does not look like a child
I officially don’t think it’s a myth. 16 year olds today definitely look younger than they used to. You see a 16 year old today; most of them look like they’re still 11 years old.
I have met one 16 yro like this in my life. A long-term friend of mine "Jim-Tom". Don't let his nickname fool you he meditated daily, (In a far-east style. It was so fascinating to me.), was incredibly insightful for his age, and was a beast athlete in multiple sports.
I don't know Mike if you will ever see this.... But i saw you box in Albany when you first started out. My friend was a round girl. It took you a minute or two to knock your appoint out! That was it at 19. Over and done. Wish i could see it all over again!
Some years ago i Saw a 13 that was pretty similar tô Mike in the way that he was extremily developed for his age Man looked like a 25 year old olympic atlete
