Wow!! I can't believe I found Mike Varney of Shrapnel playing guitar!! So awesome! I thought you only produced great talent, I didn't realize you had such talent yourself! Any new releases coming out soon?
Hah! There are TWO (at least!) Mike Varney’s. This is the chemist Mike Varney, not the Shrapnel records Mike Varney. Sorry to disappoint. My Mike is a great guitarist, but you should see him lead a team of researchers searching for new solutions for patients. This is my Mike Varney’s true talent. He was the 13th (or so, no one was counting back in 1987) employee of Agouron Pharmaceuticals, the first company to have an anti-HIV molecule licensed for children and adults. That drug is estimated to have saved the lives of 100,000 people in its first year alone. Two talented Mikes: just in very different ways.
There are also two guitarists here: Rob Wullenjohn may be the guitarist you are hearing. Rob is a phenomenal guitar player. He toured for ten years with a Celtic rock band Tempest and heads his own band, Blue on Green. Hanne Andersen, the drummer, played for ten years in Las Vegas, and Nancy Hall, the singer on the right, sang back up and toured with Neil Young. Check out her “Last Ride on Devil’s Slide” (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S6Lw8JhhIiw.html) Neil provided the Cadillac, truck with hay bales and the cameraman. It’s a great song about grassroots action yielding civic change, and it’s true!
