Mike always let his callers speak, I only had 1 problem with him to date and it happened today, when he failed to admit the public is treating this Roethlisberger scandal quieter than Kobe's and Tiger Woods
This is why I continue to listen to Russo. Does he know as much as Mike about sports? Probably not, however Russo lets his callers speak. He has fun every day and he has much more passion and personality. Mike's show has dried up so much and his true colors are out there for the world to see
to be fair , its true this guy does pull more ratings. i honestly love espn radio though. i rather listen to michael kay on espn NY, i agree more with kay than fransesca. plus i feel franseca gets really rude at times. its lke hes saying hey u dont like my shows that fine get the heck out of here than. n he screams at his callers. hes really old school. but when i saw his ratings for ny, it seems as people really do like his show
Dog's biggest mistake is letting Howard Stern rope him into this petty crap. To be honest Mike's show is not as fun or interesting as it was when Dog was on the show. Mike talks over guests is often inpatient or flat out rude to callers and his crew on the air. His ratings are up because his Yes show and radio show have NO one challenging his time period. I was suprised SNY didn't air Maddog that network has way too much dead airtime with classic old film footage.
Yeah, he's abrasive at times. That's part of what makes him who he is and what people enjoyed. Not everyone wants nice, polite radio especially when you're discussing topics like sports which are just entertainment anyway. If he was so beatable other stations certainly would've challenged him but they obviously didn't for a reason.

Interesting. So your argument is: either you like Francesa or you're jealous. Is it possible that people don't like him because of his arrogance? Is it possible people don't like him because he lacks flair and personality? Is it at all possible? Or have you concluded beyond a shadow of a doubt that the only reason a person would not like Francesa is because that person is jealous?
Well to be fair there is no competition between Satellite radio subscription service and standard terrestrial broadcast frequency radio waves. The Arbitron- turned-Nielsen ratings service proves Mikes point: you are in competition for listener numbers within the market you are heard in on a radio. Satellite transmission is not rated by Nielsen so there is no competition. Mike is in competition for listeners with Hannity, Michael Kay and whoever is on 77 WABC 3pm to 7pm. And when the Mets are on NEWSRADIO 880 during Getaway Day Games! But we all really just want to see Mike and the Mad Dog get back together. It would get a 10 share!

Those guys pushed Mike Francesa to go out of character like this. Like him or not Mike was right on about this and like ZombieBernieMac said - Mike came through in a BIG SPOT. Unlike A-Rod who, when had the opportunity to explain himself in his interview - failed in the clutch...again.
I feel bad for Mike. Everyone who's ever been in an exclusive echelon, especially in the public eye, has had to deal with the unfortunate, stressful consequences of rumor spreading worthy of The Hills and overall female behavior from colleagues. WFAN is the fucking shit. I'm not the biggest fan of Francesca, but I've been in his position before, and let me tell you it's about as pleasurable as inserting a catheter. It's an unfortunate world we live in.
Chris Russo doesn't know sports, nor does he like sports.. he's a Jerry Lewis wannabe gimmick.. Francessa = substance.. he has a great sports iq.. love him or hate him, his sports iq has to be respected.. and the truth is that he's witty and entertaining and has a great subtle sense of humor.. Stern is old news, and currently a cornball.. Russo kissing up to Stern and backstabbing Mike is a prick move... when the smoke clears, there's no doubt that Francessa is the best there is
