Bad luck for him that he was in his prime when Spain had literally the best midfield in the history of international football. In any other era he would've gotten a few caps at least.

@@JonahLoeb I think he was still good enough, but once they had that established midfield they weren't gonna mess with it. Especially not with someone who played at a less successful club and then at Arsenal (almost every Spain player was from La Liga and most from Real Madrid or Barcelona).

@@dannyzee4 when he was in the best form of his life for everton (when he scored 2/3 of them bangers) he was about to be named in the spain squad that monday.....on the saturday before it he did his cruciate ligament v Newcastle and was out for over 12 months, he never was back to 100% after it either,

@@JonahLoeb he was very unlucky with the injuries too. He had a couple od big injuries when he was at Everton, when he was playing at high level... I think if it weren't for those injuries he would've made a transfer to a bigger club much earlier. I always admired his technique and how composed he was on the pitch.

Just bangers and penalties!! Watching this for a second time and loving it. As an Arsenal fan I will never forgot that Everton squad, so solid and so classy, impossible not to like them. Pienar, Cahill, Arteta, Lescott, and others were pure class.

I am still a kid but I remember a few years ago and I went to watch a game against Chelsea at Goodson and Steven Naismith got a perfect hat-trick and he has always been my favourite Everton player I don’t know why but he just is.
