True. Arteta came and immediately his on field presence and leadership steadied our wobbling defence. I remember fans back then complaining that Arteta was very boring who always does side passes. But that was exactly what we needed at the time and Arteta knew it. Arteta was positionally very aware. Always at the right time and place to intercept opponent counter attack. Opponents very rarely got past him. Before him, our midfield was prone to dispossession under slightest pressure. He brought steel to the midfield and kept possession. And he was a great on-field leader who took command of the team like a general and stabilized them. For me, he was the most consistent, rock solid player along with Koscielny.

Him and Mertesacker were good signings that season but have gone onto to become great signings for the club since. They have brought about the needed change at the club that has its roots in the old Arsenal! The Arsenal Way! The ‘Class’ of The Arsenal!

This aged well. He is doing great. Gutted he left city but what a coach he is now at Arsenal.

I remember that time he had to retake a pen after the first one good as it was, i was nervous for him to take it again as probably was he but he did it like there was no one in the stadium. For some reason that memory feels like yesterday but i think that was his last season as a player.
