Years ago I installed a pair of Mikuni flat slide carbs on my '72 R75/5. Once I got them dialed in, they worked well for me. Sorry to hear that Rocky Point is out of business.
Really enjoyed the work you did on the BMW improvement. Could you tell me the Mikuni jet sizes you used. The pilot, main, needle jet, slide and needle. That would be helpful in dialing in carbs. Also, what elevation are you at? Thanks again for sharing.
I also upgraded my R100 to these Mikuni carbs and installed bungs on my exhaust for quicker tuning. What AFR did you find worked best for your carbs/bike? A lot of people are saying between 11:1 - 13:1 at Idle and then between 13:1 - 14.7:1 during cruising speed. Does this work for your bike?
Have no experience with this but have heard second hand from airheads that radiator hose will not hold up well if used for carburetor exit tube, as you suggest. I assume gas vapors will deteriorate the coolant hose material. Tschuss!
That is possible but the hose pieces that you get from some suppliers are radiator hose, nothing more. But you are right, it is probably something worth paying attention to.
