Another pleasant wander. I only visited the town once decades ago and it's pleasing to see it hasn't changed much (a rare thing) though the road's busier. The town is rightly proud of its history and heritage and I'd love those realistic (non-diverse) information boards in the historic church. The absence of friendly locals isn't surprising for affluent little towns, I find. Poorer working class towns are more likely to welcome you, especially in the north.
Such a lovely quaint place. The only thing I'd heard about Mildenhall was that a farmer found a bunch of Roman treasure in one of his fields, which was put into the British Museum.
Yes, a high status later Roman family hid their silverware near a villa there and never retrieved it, causing the lucky farmer to discover it nearly 2,000 years later. Also, it's where the UFO landed in Pink Floyd's Let There Be More Light track. Far out, man.
Thanks for focusing on the history boards in the first Church. Unfortunately I can’t get clear enough images on my phone to read it all. They’re better than the boards that have been erected in my local (London) library ‘celebrating’ Refugee Week! They’re just full of emotive images drawn by local diverse children. 😖😢
No worries, with hindsight I perhaps should of read a bit more detail out on them. London, as much as I love the place is battered with that ideology. If you remind me next week I will upload the photos I took and you will be able to read them that way.
