Your capture of the massive tornado is truly impressive. The lack of narration is especially appreciated. I wish more chasers would focus solely on tracking and filming the tornado without commentary.
If every chaser recorded these clips without commentary, these clips would be boring as h#ll. You freakin' people need to chill with your complaints of other chasers videos. If you got as close to these tornados as they do, you'd be screaming, too.
Absolutely amazing footage, with supporting data at the end. And no gleeful screeching to spoil it and disrespect the people affected by the passages of these monster storms. This is a devastating, terrifying event. Thank you for letting us witness it.
Just insane. You hear of those big tornadoes getting a mile wide, but it doesn't really register until you think about how long a mile is. That is terrifying.
Excellent camerawork... no drama, no shouting. Just a monster clambering along the Great Plains. You can even make out the merry-go-round vortices 3:20 that were so lethal for the 2013 El Reno tornado. Outstanding video.
How the House and the out buildings at 2 min mark stayed intact is incredible, considering how it looked like that tornado was in their backyard, unless it's actually further away than it appears because of the camera angle?
I can only imagine how awe inspiring it must be to see that in person. Beautiful but terrifying at the same time 😬. Great footage 👍 and greetings from Aus 🇦🇺🙂
Thanks for watching! A mobile doppler radar (Doppler on Wheels) near the tornado did measure EF5-level winds of 224 mph at ground level. But the tornado didn't impact any structures at that intensity, and the EF scale is a damage scale so it was only rated a high-end EF3 and only 6 mph under EF4. If it did happen to directly hit more structures at its highest intensity it could have very well been rated EF5, but fortunately it narrowly missed those (as you can see in the video).
Thank you Ryan for having the wherewithal to focus your energy on filming vs being consumed with the meteorology of the event. Also, your ability to focus on the tornado and occasionally clear your windshield is perfection. So many storm chasers leave their wipers on full blast and it's so disruptive visually. Thank you!!
It's funny when you're sitting there, and there's a huge tornado going right by you, and then the weather alert system goes off to warn you that a tornado might be coming.. 😂
Amazing footage of this tornado!!! I appreciate how calm you stayed too, not screaming or psycho behaviors!! We could hear the roar of the tornado, and that is drama enough for me! My family had one come very close when I was a child and I remember the deep roar that one hears in this event! Thank you so much for sharing, friend. That was amazing! 🌪🌪🌪🌪
I live in Las Vegas. I know there must have been at least 1 tornado here in the past, but thankfully, it wasn't newsworthy. Can you imagine an F-5 tornado wrecking the LV Strip? The world-famous hotels ripped to shreds! YIKES!!! I digress!! Thanks for sharing some awesome footage!!!
I certainly agree that this is a phenomenally impressive footage of an incredible tornado. It is wonderful that you didn't comment anywhere in your video. The addition of some still photos of damage and the weather data about the path of the storm made it even better. Thanks so much!
Absolutely the best video I've seen yet showing a multiple vortex structure! One ugly and nasty tornado for sure and out of the thousands of tornado videos I've seen, this now my favorite! And yes, science is golden. You can hear the tornado itself!
Incredible footage of a ferocious monster. Terrifying yet beautiful. Thank you for not screaming or speaking, allowing us simply to be awed. You have a new subscriber.
This footage was spectacular. You could hear the roar of the tornado and you didn’t have any chasers screaming and yelling in the background. Much appreciated!
Watching this in VR. This footage is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! I watch these vids all the time. Call it PTSD from growing up in Missouri. Every time I heard thunder rumble, I was heading for the basement. But man, this felt like really being there...aAwe-inspiring and terrifying, all at the same time. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR NOT TALKING!!! You have no idea how much more enjoyable this was without somebody screaming "power flashes" every 30 seconds. You've achieved a new state of the art in stormchasing: Just let the tornado speak for itself. Genius!!!
They're amazing from a distance. Lost everything in a tornado in 2003. Almost lost my life. Always thought they were so beautiful until all that happened.
This was an insane tornado and your footage is the best I’ve seen so far. Major props for not screaming, running, pointing the camera at things that don’t matter. Thank you!
This is the most insane footage I have ever seen. Imagine that monster barreling down on you. You have about 2 minutes to make a couple of last minute decisions before you are forced to endure whatever it gives you. Mentally prepare. A few deep breaths. Hold on tight.
It looks so graceful, yet terrifying. Like a murderous ballet of cotton candy from this distance. Obviously to anything close up it'd be anything but graceful or "cotton candy". Just incredible to just witness this via your footage.
I grew up and live in this area. Pottawattamie and Shelby counties. I am 60 years old and I know these roads. Have seen a handful of twisters roll through in my days but nothing like 4/26. Nothing even comes close. Nothing. Seeing the video is mesmerizing, but walking amongst the destruction and the aftermath up close is heartbreaking and beyond comprehension. Thank you for the footage.
Thanks for being calm and letting us absorb this. It was beyond monstrous. One wonders what Lovecraft would've written about such a thing if he'd seen it.
Wow! Just Wow!!... You have done an amazing job of capturing the video evidence of this monster tornado!! You didn't talk, thank you for doing that and focusing on the raw and impressive power of the tornado..... Idk how you stayed so calm being that close?? Please don't ever put yourself in danger trying to get the best footage! I'm from Iowa, currently living in Tennessee...but my heart is always with the great State of Iowa and her people!! ❤🙏
Great job capturing the essence of this tornado with little to no shakiness and no commentary was greatly appreciated This tornado was huge beautiful and i could make out the shapes of several different things You did an incredible job I commend you and give you your kudos for the bravery and courage you obviously have to do this
Ryan, thank you for uploading this remarkable footage. I have been fascinated by tornadoes since I was 10 (I was caught in the outskirts of an F2; I had tornado dreams for years afterward). I do watch a lot of chaser footage. Your video did a great job of tracking the various stages of this beautiful and savage monster. I particularly appreciated seeing those crazy subvortices. Like so many others here, I thank you too for shooting with a minimum of narration. It's so wise to let the storm itself tell the story.
Jesus...that thing is so...horrifyingly beautiful. Leave it alone and you get a beautiful sight but go one inch too close and you get torn to shreds. There's no strong enough word to describe how mind-blowing this is. Thank you for this...
Hey Guy's...... Exceedingly well done video...!! Most of us appreciate minimal commentary with the understanding that sometimes it's just......necessary..! All of you remained extremely Calm considering the Size & especially the Violence of the tornado, which I suspect was at least a very large EF-3....and probably more like a true EF-4.....WOW..!! Thank you....and again Well done!!
Something about a mile wide tornado like these feel so beautifully scary on another level for me. Like its so big to where it doesnt even look a tornado anymore. Just an undefined swirling mass of dark destructive clouds
Not only is that monstrously big, but the movement on the outside of it is so fast, I kept checking if this footage is time-lapsed. I can’t imagine the wind speed on the inside. 😮 Edit: that’s just an EF-3??? Yikes!
You should keep this up. Everyone need's Ryan Kelly, and everyone need's Reed Timmer. People saying your lack of commentary makes you better, is incorrect. Your both of equal value to all of us, and BOTH of your work is equally comparable and fantastic. I appreciate this sort of Filming also, I just will not dig/down on anyone else for there work, while I compliment you. Like what 99% of this Comment section is doing. Thanks again Ryan!!! Insanely great tracking, and storm chasing! Never stop chasing!
Here in Germany an F2 or EF3 passed through the city of Paderborn in summer 2022, directly above our house and another 8 kilometers through the city. Not comparable to the tornadoes in the USA, but still fascinating
Beautiful footage. Real mean looking tornado. Im no storm chaser, but i do appreciate people who get this type of footage. It's amazing how there were few sounds except for the awesome power of the tornado
I can't imagine....cannot even imagine what witnessing something like this is like. The sound, how the air must feel, the debris. It also looks like it was moving REALLY fast through the area, like 50+ mph?
That tornado looked to be moving along at a pretty quick pace. While I realize people lost their homes and I'm sure some were severely injured, blessings can be count that it's path appeared to be a rural area. I can't imagine what this beast would have done in a residential area.
The roar you hear from inside the car with the windows closed is so unsettling, something about the raw sound without the mic clipping just shows how massive they are
Yes indeed Very Compressive & Impressive capture. This is really only the place for Professionals to be who can read a Storm. It's so easy to see how People are Mortified by these Events of Mother Nature let alone Terrified of them. I guess you have to be there in the moment to understand & that's what makes this Video so Good. Regards.
It's crazy about tornadoes. They are terrifying and so destructive. But I also think they have a certain sublime beauty. This monster was scary but also, well, gorgeous in its way.
