This song was essential in my recovery from a broken heart as a relationship ended. Through God's grace, time, and music I learned the meaning of bittersweet. When she left, I gave her a copy of this song as a symbol of how I felt. I can only hope that when she listens to it that a sad smile forms on her lips and remembers me fondly. Grace and peace to her and all who read this. Thank you Miles for your music.
A masterpiece. Miles Davis at his very best. The first time I heard this music, I was mesmerized by it. The simple beauty of the melody and the effortless way Miles played it was pure magic. Miles is one of my favorites, and of all of his performances, this one tops the list.
A calm and meditative high...as if the clouds ceased the gravitational pull on its droplets...when the sun met the earth and nothing was burned...children dance out in a garden filled with fire and flowers....this is my paradise....
This song helped me get through a rough break up. It's so cool that a song without any words can say exactly what you need to hear in order to get over a tough situation.
@broncolady4ever ME TOO!!! I fell in LOVE with the song during the movie. I'm only 32 and haven't heard much of his music, but this song sparked an interest in knowing familiarizing myself with his masterpieces. I immediately went and picked up some kind of blue, and some sessions he held with J.Coltrane. I'M SO IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG :)
it occurs to me that i never really appreciate this type of music until its finished. Then i have to replay it again. I think that i just fall into a state of bliss listening to Miles Davis
for me this is Miles' greatest performance of a ballad, it is perfect, even the imperfections are perfect, like the cracked notes, so much feeling in every note...
Once I laughed when I heard you saying That I'd be playing solitaire Uneasy in my easy chair It never entered my mind. Lyrics: And once you told me I was mistaken That I'd awaken with the sun And ordered orange juice for one. It never entered my mind. You had what I lack, myself Now I even have to scratch my back myself. Once you warned me that if you scorned me, I'd say the maiden's prayer again And wish that you were there again To get into my hair again. It never entered my mind.
I first heard this rendition of this song in the film "Runaway Bride" with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, but had to go through a couple of different arrangements here before I found this one! So soulful and beautiful!
I hear this when I'm relaxing w/ a cigar I get away from all the commercial music on the radio today. And go back in time to when times were a little simpler, and not wondering what to status to post on facebook or when the new iPhones is coming out. Just good old fashion fun.
The most beautiful, romantic song I have ever heard. So blue...yet so uplifting. A great candlelight dinner song to have playing while you spend time with the one you love. Thank you Miles!
you can play the music technically perfect all you want... Give me Miles, who recorded a little something of himself into this piece... and gave it a soul.
So many songs that i like have been played out which resulted in me hating them temporarily. But you can play this song a million times and it will still be '''Timeless''. You can't help but smile when you hear this song. Lucifero De Dios *
Music heals. I had studied voice decades ago, fell out of practice, got really hooked on bennies&booz, got sober and started singing again. Any day that something troubles me, I just whip out the song books, and I'm in myself again. Just like that. Troubles just melt away.
A coloro che gestiscono lo spazio dei video su "youtube": per favore non disperdete questo pezzo di Miles! è la versione più bella che ne ho sentito e discende dolce e posato direttamente nella sua dimora: l'anima!
If you want to see and hear the perfect blend of music and film watch the film ... Lenny. This is one of the Miles songs perfectly integrated into the film. ;)
@calico992 You are absolutely right. Dolphy is one of the most underrated figures in history. Radical and influential. The man had so much to say in his short life.
@Sonolumino8939 @Sonolumino8939 I think you're right, it makes me feel a little bit closer to the divine. It shows me that there is so much beauty in this word that sometimes I cannot breath.
According to Amazon, this is from the "Workin'" album, mid-50s, so the pianist is Red Garland and the others are John Coltrane, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Philly Joe Jones.
