Possibly the greatest album of all time. Only five pieces of music... but could cover and capture any mood for the listener. Sounds crazy, but I remember sitting in my car in traffic and Flamenco Sketches was playing. The weather was cold and rainy with just a touch of snow... and it was just a perfect moment. Magic. Thanks Miles... lol... I even had a cat named after him.

Miles Davis is one of my all-time favourite musicians, and to some people that's surprising, because he didn't really have the same level of technical virtuosity that guys like Dizzy Gillespie did. But what Miles did have was that rare gift of being able to play the perfect note every time. You listen to his solos, and it's like it was meant to be. You can't even imagine the music without the notes he plays - until he plays it again, in a different way, and it's perfect all over again..

Kind of Blue...Kind of Cool...Kind of Miles. When I was really turning on to jazz (1975-1981), Davis took a six year vacation (to re-discover his art). There is no excuse for my missing his final 10 years (1981-1991) except I probably had lost my mind. Those who disliked this were probably jealous. And I can understand that. When you miss the baddest, coolest, greatest jazz musician ever to walk the earth you've got to get angry at something.

I remember playing "Four" in my schools jazz band we had listened to it first and it was amazing. Then when we played and instead of the suggested tempo we start at almost double time. It made the song that more memorable to us but we all stilled loved how the original went.

I'm still in agreement. "Kind of Blue" is the without a doubt, the finest jazz recording ever. I know its been said time and time again, but if you want to listen to and learn about jazz, this album is the one to begin with. That's right, I said album. (I still have my original album purchase in perfect condition although I did purchase the box set on CD.)
