The INFAMOUS "TU TU"...This Song Is And forever will Be an Epic Classic From Marcus Miller featuring The INFAMOUS Miles Davis...My Blessed Vietnam Vet Father Who Played The Hammond B3 Organ and Trumpet 🎺 used to play this song all The Time ....Everybody Just Blended sooo Exceptionally Well Together...Loved and Still Love This Blessed Performance From This Show & This Particular Era In Time...💜💯🎨🆒🌎✨🇺🇸☮️🙏.
So fortunate to see both David Sanborn and Miles Davis play together in a concert at the old Caravan of Dreams in Downtown Fort Worth - Talk about a show for the ages.
And Marcus wrote and composed and arranged ghee TUTU record and Miles would only come in to check out how it was sounding and lay down his horn when needed. But Marcus…Marcus was playing all the instruments on the demos for Miles to listen to. Marcus is so much more than one of the best bass players of all time. He’s also one of the best composers and arrangers and writers of the last 40 years period.
Miles was great....because he adapted to all aspects of change. Even embracing the blending of hip hop and jazz. I feel fortunate...I saw 👀 him live in 1981 and again in 1991.
Yeah, you are SOOOO lucky - I was too young to have gotten to see him live. As I majored in saxophone performance in college I hate that I never saw him live.
Miles would hit certain notes and you just wish you could keep it locked up in your head for life. Uncanny man! I'm so happy that his career direction evolved over all those precious years.
I'd argue tastes are more eclectic now. The Internet completely changed the game. Young folks you may think only listen to a certain genre actually listen to a ton of old stuff and genres you may not think they do. I'm 47 btw.
@@CinqueMalcolm Thank you for saying this because it is absolutely true. I’m 18 and found Miles years ago, his stuff blew me away. We tend to get underestimated by people on our knowledge of actual good music because what most see is surface level. Most wouldn’t believe how deep we actually go.
Yes, jazz purists don't like Mile's 80's music. To me, it sounds like he was working on a new kind of melody that is shared and passed around the instruments. This sounds very three dimensional. It is haunting.
If you can’t do better….look at all the styles that seem presaged by what Miles was doing. House, Jungle, Bass & Drum….maybe it wasn’t his best but Miles never stopped growing and expressing himself. One thing was always true, he had the best bands and always had people that would become huge on their own. Young lions
Man, I miss Miles and this style of jazz music influencing pop culture... We can always go back in time thanks to these incredible videos and posts . It's incredible to think this was actually aired on NBC way back in '89. Love the writing Marcus did with Miles.... Thank you for posting..
I’m watching here in 2020! ... a lovely day full of Jazz players, from Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Oscar Peterson. A dream of a concert.
Thanks for posting this. Awesome... is an understatement. This Gem of a Musician, was the definition of a Musical Genius. That's the reason why, the audience claps for all... but the rest of the band, top-rated Musicians themselves... applaud Miles.
Great. Incredible. Very interesting to hear Sanborn in that situation. Miles was a magician. All the musicians who played with him were inspired to give the best. Marcus Miller is perfect, as usual.
Miles had an operation on his throat in 1955 and was told by his doctor not to speak for 10 days to let it heal. But he got into an argument with someone and yelled, permanently damaging his vocal cords.
First time I've seen this. Brilliant! This show was so good. It had to have been some stupid red tape thing that prevented this show from continuing. What a travesty. The whole time I had a stank face listening to this. Uggghh!
And you must reed that book ,,Miles Davis,, 1989 BOOK OF THE YEAR ,its gonna blow your mind more by QUEENCY TROOP, don't forget to thank me after you reed!!!
No idea this existed. This is Miles toward the end of career, but he’s playing well here. His band is hot, and Sanborn fits right in. I really enjoyed this. Sorry about the throat, Miles.
Just brings a smile to your face, especially in hard times now. Took me almost 40 years of listening to all kinds of music to finally get into Jazz & Jazz Fusion especially. The Miles Davis family tree is amazing all the greats he inspired & helped bring into the world. The Wayne Shorters, Joe Zawinul's & Herbie Hancocks 7 so many more.
Night Music...what a cool show, too cool for commercial,,,,right in the echelon with Rockpalast, Austin City Limits, (old) Soundstage, and maybe one or two others.
Sat right next to my dad since i was a little kid while he was listening to his massive collection of Jazz vinyls, I was about six years old up until now (I'm 20) and I've started to compose my own Jazz music. I'm a very amateur player of Trumpet and Piano but all the education i needed to write my own tunes was in those vinyls, might be starting a band soon. I do attend a sound engineering school though.
This must have been super fun for Foley to play with Marcus. I don't know how well they knew each other or if they played together but he got the gig through him so it was probably an honour to share the stage.
This music makes me feel something so sweet and so herb inside, so I just can"t stop crying. Feel like a fool sitting in a train full of people, crying about something I cannot understand and explain.
This was superb! Miles always seemed like a 'space cadet', especially when he spoke. I'm sure his comment at the end (19:23) was a great 'Ice breaker' for him to open a conversation.
it amazed me when this show started airing...it blew me away that there was a tv program that really showcased musician's of all genres...knew somehow it wouldn't last forever like SNL but remember this episode the most!Miles and The Chili Peppers amazers!
This musician only attracted ALL STARS. If you made it to Miles you had arrived. Unfortunately if you made it to Miles you had also discovered herion in the early days...The talent was there irregardless.
As an “Old School Brother “ this collaboration puts me in a trance! I can’t play a lick of nothing but every time I hear something like this it takes me back to a time in my life where all of adults around me were encouraging me to be the absolute best at whatever I chose to become in life. Those folks just happened to be Jazz lovers whose theme music was always classics like this. I’m now a 75 year old dude who has always been average but will never give up the quest for greatness. This music doesn’t come without tears, heartache and failures but it perpetually brings encouragement, comfort and joy!
Salut,lm68,and many live and Miles kill me and save me it's the Boss..sorry for my englichhh ,les jeunes devrait s'informer sur cette musique pour ouvrir des portes cérébrale 🌌
RIP. Thank you for sharing all this music with us. It meant so much for someone who had such limited access to these jazz legends to be introduced to them on your show.
