Omg, you guys mentioned my blog, finally! Thanks for the kind words. When you add a link to it next I am certain that buyout offers will start rolling in #thinkbig 🙂
I started using Airbnb in 2010, and had only one bad experience that was taken care of immediately. I continued through 2020 where I stayed in multiple apartments during a 3-week Japan trip. But since I've gotten into the CC points game in a big way, I've used hotels exclusively as there's no cash outlay.
I am saving $88 on Allegiant bringing my total down to just a little over $100 for two round trip tickets from Fresno to Vegas this summer by purchasing the tickets @ airport. 😊
On the timeshare presentation. A friend and I are in the travel industry but we were just curious. We did the Las Vegas one. We were stuck there for almost 4 hours and we started saying no, and that I was a local about 2 hours in. We did get our gifts after 3 hours and 45 minutes. Only used the gift cards which $100 was on 5 $20 individual cards. Also the dinner tickets were in 3 cards and can only use one meal at a time. So it only paid the tax and Tip. And we ate light. It was really good but the price was crazy and we could not use the full $75. They offered me at 3 hours in a stupid amount and a maintenance fee higher than my membership on my current travel club for a whole year over $1700. Gifts were crappy and I have not used their free hotel stay since we have to do the presentation again.
Normie who rarely travels. Recently used up American Airlines points on an Embassy Suites my daughters wedding party was staying at that I’ve been sitting on for 12 + years when I opened up an American Airlines advantage credit card and got thousands of points for spending a few thousand dollars in a few months. Never had an opportunity to fly anywhere AA flies and was thrilled when I saw u could use them for a hotel saving me $250. I kept the AA and charge account active by just charging a cheap subscription to it every month.
I've had all poor experiences with Airbnb. Service is poor/non existent, fees are excessive, and it's never been worth the stress or hassle. Hotels are the way to go.
This morning I was lying in bed at a "Comfort" hotel and I started thinking about this whole points game. I just got my 75,000 points and I'm still not sure if the whole idea will work for me but I'm willing to stick it out for a little while and see where it's headed. Now as far as the time share bit, LOL! You are kidding right??? Obviously when that woman left the room they checked you out and when she came back she just wanted you to leave. That won't be the way it goes down for the rest of us. 😄
Yeah but they are relatively low pressure. I think doing it with the idea you’ll be there two hours is the right way to go. So you’re getting a really good price on the room and the points in exchange for the two hours. Maybe not for everyone but a great deal if you’re willing to do it.
Hey guys, great video. I'd like to get your opinion on a credit card deal. 1.75% unlimited cashback and $300 credit after spending $3K in the first 90 days. Just curious if you guys think that is a good rewards card. Thanks! And congrats on 3K, you're growing fast!!!
Generally you can get 2% back from a lot of banks on a simple cash back card. Cards like Citi Double Cash (and a few others) only have a $200 welcome offer but give you the higher rate back and there are some niche options better than that. I wouldn’t put my everyday spend on a 1.75% back card personally.
Do you generally keep cards for a while or close them and open new ones. I find it difficult at times to make sure I’m using all my cards that I want to keep and make sure they don’t get closed due to inactivity. Do you have a strategy for keeping cards active?
For some reason my mic levels were altered and I didn’t realize it when recording so I clipped out a lot. Did my best to fix it but it’s definitely subpar. Should be fixed for next show but that’s why and I apologize.
