The Milestar Patagonia MT02 is not the original Patagonia MT. After having the MT02 for a year and 27,000 miles I share my experience with these new tires.

Glad to hear you talk about weight. Not a lot of people think about the extra unsprung weight that tires can have. Some brands are much heavier. Switch a lighter forged wheel and stick with a slightly lighter tire and you could save 15-20lbs per wheel/tire combo.

I'm seriously considering giving these a try when I transition from my AT's to MT's. Your videos speak volumes for their capabilities.

I run 37/12.5R17 MT 02s on my Gladiator because Matt said so! The tires have exceeded my expectations on and off road. Their on-road wet performance is probably the most surprising feature. Plenty of grip in this situation like what you'd except from an A/T tire. They're quiet and grippy in all situations I've put them in. Highly recommended.

I really appreciate this video! Researching new 37 inch tires for the gen 6 bronco. The weight is really leading me to these tires (mainly cause of IFS). The longevity was a little concern. Especially since i drive a lot from NE Indiana to have good overlanding experiences. Tires are such a rabbit hole with RT, XT, AT, and such, but you really explained real-world experiences very well. New sub now. Thanks for this video!

I bought a set of the original Milestar MT's for my JKU about 7 months ago and I love them. I decided to get them because of your videos. If the can handle what you do to them then they for sure can handle what I do. I drive tons of gravel and dirt/mud roads and have had zero issues with the original MT's. When they do wear out i"m planning on getting a set of MT02's. I will see y'all at the MOORE Expo.

Hey Matt, THANK YOU for this review !!!! 😄👍👍I Am getting these for my Tacoma after my Goodyear Duratracks wear out ..Those tires Are a Decent tire for Offroading here in CO., But are prone to sidewall issues, and NEED to be rotated often... They're also Not a true MT tire , BUT...They EXCEL in the snow ,which is DEFINITELY A PLUS Here !!!! THANK YOU for ALLLLL you do !!!!! LOVE you both ..

I’ve been impressed with the Patagonia Mt’s that I had on our 2500 Ram. Put 20k on them, switched them over to the farm truck when we sold the Ram and have been running them for about 2 years on the old 81 F250. You can’t get those silly things stuck. It spends most of its time in the northern Missouri red clay. I’m thinking about doing the new ones on my bronco when it’s time. Thanks for the review

Good info, Matt. I'm about to retire my 2nd set of 38" original Pats. I've got over 40K miles out of them and they've been great (I'm religious about rotating every 2K miles). I've seen some sidewalls issues on the trails, but nothing personally. I originally planned to go with another brand this time around, but the price on these still can't be beat and I don't have enough negative to justify switching. Glad to hear about the improvements and can't wait to see it for myself.

No experience with these tires but I’ve been running kenda klever RT in a load range e on my half ton Silverado and highly recommend them. Tire prices everywhere have skyrocketed, but when I got these, they were super affordable. 20k miles and still look new. And amazing in the snow. I live up in montana and these things have never let me down. I kinda wanna try the new BFG ko3 tire but man these kendas have really proven themselves to me

I wheeled with Lite Brite in Sand Hollow and watching how good the MileStar's worked in the rocks I replaced my Toyo MT with them, now I have the new MT02 in 38s,best tire I have ever used in the Rocks which is mostly my type of wheeling, most people feel if they are not paying over $500 a tire they can't be good but I would choose this tire over any other tire for the rocks and on the street they wear really good but you have to keep them at 35psi cold, and rotate every 5000 miles.

Appreciate the detailed review. Have to replace the Goodyear Kevlar MT's on my TJ (still plenty of tread but so old they are dry rotting). Wanted an MT with good performance but a little less noisy than the Goodyears and was on the fence on pulling the trigger on the Milestar MT02's. Think I will really like them. Have the Micky Thompson Baja MTZ's on my JK and have been very happy with those tires as well, but wanted to try something else on the TJ.

Great video! I love my Patagonia tires. I ran the Falken Wildpeak’s MTs before them and…..in my opinion the Patagonia is a better all around tire. It would be great if you could do a video comparison with vs STT Pros. Showing aired down foot print comparison. To see which tire has a better ground contact, and flex around a object. I recently seen a video where a guy had the same size tire stt pro on one vehicle and the km3 on another. Then he aired them down to the exact same air pressure and put them through the paces. He drove both vehicles so there was no difference in the driving. It was surprising how well they compared to each other. You really couldn’t see a difference between the two in the mud, rocks, and over slippery roots. It was also a great video.

I loved my Milestars! However, my main issue was the sidewalls. It is, to date, still the only tire I keep destroying the sidewall on. I haven't tried the latest version though, so hopefully they have improved the durability there. I'm running 35's on a JKUR and not getting too crazy. Tires I also run are Nitto, Cooper, and BF Goodrich. I'd love to go back to the Milestars if they fixed the sidewall issue.

Matt: always great content…I have 2021 Gladiator with a 2” Mopar lift…dealer talked me into a set of 37” Patagonia M/T’s. They look great and performed well. After about 15K miles, they got so loud I could not hear my wife talking to me while driving along in the passenger seat. I held out to about 25K miles and then tapped out (I could not even make calls on my CarPlay). Went back to the proven best: BFG KO2’s in 37”. Yes, about $2K but well worth in. Safe travels and sorry about your pup…met you guys at Overland East 2 years ago.

Funny you mentioned LiteBrite cause yea man that’s exactly what sold me on trying them out. 2 years on my first set and 4 Jeep Jamborees on PA rocks and thousands of miles on the highway. I screwed up though, I was told when I got them to run them at 26 psi on the highway, that’s way too low, any now they are feathered badly and noisy as hell. Getting the 35 inch MTs swapped out with 35 inch MT 02s and will run the correct pressure this time and see how we do

I have a set of first-gen 31" tires on my 99 XJ with a 3.5 inch lift. I love these tires. So far I got around 10k miles on them. Haven't run them on any snow but plenty of rock, dirt, and sand. So far my only complaint is that they're so soft that I got a few chips from the rocks I was climbing. In the tires defense, the rocks had some jagged edges. I'm sure a set of 02's would do better. I plan on getting a set of 33"s or 35" 02s next year.

I have 22 Rubicon Gladiator and don't overland and my towing is of a couple of atvs. Also, I have the metalcloak 3½" game changer lift. What offset or back spacing and lift are you running. Seems like Milestar might be tapped into the motorcycle tire philosophy, weight, compounds, etc, you get a lot of quiet, decent wear and overall good manners with the tighter center pattern, leaving the really biting tread on the outside edge. I just picked up a set of the Padagonia XT tires and so far am loving them. I don't want a full MT tire since it's my daily driver and I have an hour (one way) commute, so the XT was the next logical choice given the incredible value compared to other "hybrid" tires. I paid $183 each for 265/75R16, and they have a 40k mile warranty. Unfortunately they are an E rated tire, but on my first trail outing on them I aired down to 15psi and didn't have any complaints.

I ran a set of the originals on my Tacoma as well as my F-150. They were decent tires. Not my favorite, but decent and *for the price* they are incredible tires. I sold them because of the air pressure vs. noise annoyance. When aired up to 37 on the Taco, and 39 on the F-150, they were acceptably quiet and rode on the crown but the ride was a lot harsh. Setting to a more comfortable pressure, they'd run more on the shoulders but were noticeably louder than the Cooper STT Pros I have on my JK. They also did not eject mud, which is disappointing if you're interested in a good MT.

It’s the most overrated tire available and excel at nothing but long tread wear. My friends have BFG KM3s and do no better that I do. As also stated in the video the MT02 is NOT the same tire as the original which is what you are referring to. It’s a much better tire that addresses the shortcomings of the original.

02 tire is a rubber compound change from the original tire. Black label is different yet. The black label uses a special compound for enhanced stick on rocks. These compete against the bfg red label tires. These tires also have a small tire size selection (usually around 40 inch size). These tire are more intended for competition use.

I hate to say this but my JLUR plays with my 35s KO2 and with a 2.5 inch Terraflex lift I think I need bigger tires to fill up that space lol. Unfortunately the C rated 38s are more expensive than the D rated ones, $357 vs $380-400 respectively

I have not removed my heat shield even with my 38s. The key is having the Clayton Offroad rear trackbar with the bend in it to accommodate the larger spare.

Patagonia is the best All Around tire being that they compound is softer, it acts like a Sticky on rocks. for a MT, it also rides like an AT on the highway. No tire does 100% in all categories. a full blown MT is noisy on the highway and a full AT will get you stuck in the mud.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Thanks for the response. I should have just asked for your loaded tire height measurement. With the revs per mile, you can calculate the approximate loaded tire height to get an idea of how big the tire is installed. Here is the calc for my Toyo 37s with 569 revs per mile, 63360/569/3.1416 = 35.44”. Fairly accurate as mine measured out at 35.5” loaded. The measured tire height is really what I need to determine how much extra room I need in the fender to fit these tires on my truck. I am currently running 37s with no rubbing at full flex and full lock. Although your loaded tire height will be slightly different than on my truck, it would give me a good idea of actual loaded tire size. My truck is probably 800 lbs heavier than yours loaded based on watching your videos. Can you provide me your loaded tire height measurement?
