I think this is a great watch and I'm happy to see a competition for Baltany. I love the vintage watches Baltany makes. I think everyone can agree their exceptional but I've often thought they are almost on the edge of pricing there self out of the market. Great review, i have been looking at the Miltaldo for a few weeks and reviewer's like you who gives us insight into these watches are what really help me decide if it's something i want to add to my collection so I'm take appreciative of the work you're doing here. Congratulations on becoming an affiliate. I well deserved accomplishment.

I realized I didn't comment on your review and wanted to say you did a great job. I agree on all of the points but if I had it to do again, I'd still purchase the Militado. It is a grab-and-go watch for me and ticks all of the boxes I care about. It is one of the most legible watches I currently own.
Thanks, man. I really don't think you can go wrong with either of these. Both are excellent and very similar...with the more affordable one compromising slightly in areas that, like you said, aren't super important to them...if that's you, the Militado is excellent
Before I knew about the controversy I bought the Militado 3 dial version type A dial. I haven't received it yet. The Militado had a type A dial but Baltany had a type B dial. Baltany does not offer a type A dial (yet?). The Baltany type B dial is too busy for me.
@@TGriffiths-ve6nw And just recently I saw a Hamilton model which both Baltany and Militado copied. There is so much stealing it is difficult to follow who has done what to whom.
I bought the Baltany and have zero regrets. The watch is incredible for the price you pay. I love these comparison videos Steve, keep them coming. I am waiting to see if you do a comparison video between the San Martin and Seestern pelagos homage. Great review!
I saw that...I don't have any plans to review that piece, but man, it looks good. if you want the smaller size I would just go for the SM. should be just as nice as the baltany.
Thanks for comparing the Militado with the Baltany. I think I'd go for the Baltany. If only Baltany (S5033), Militado (ML1868) and San Martin (SN0120) would modify their chronographs into a field watch (without 24 hour markers) with a Seiko VH31 movement. The thicker hands, larger numerals and detailed minute track seem more appealing (and legible) than what is used on the dials of their existing field watch models. Does anyone make such a watch? Is it (or the chronograph) an homage of another watch? The design is not close to any of the British Ministry of Defense commissioned watches made by Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex.
These seem pretty original to me. Some sort of Hamilton has come up in chat, but nothing exactly like this. You can check out the new escapement time khaki field homage....had the 24 hour track though. I've got it coming in for review.
Does anyone know - are Miltado and Baltany the same company?... like a budget end? - The styles ar so similar, but on certain modesl Miltado use Mineral instead of the Sapphire that Baltany invariably use.
Not the same company but it seems like Militado had access to the factory Baltany uses. Baltany is the better brand, though Militado isn't far behind when comparing apples to apples
I am a distributor for Baltany, and you know everything. Watchdives, as a representative of Baltany, is using Baltany's popular watches to develop their own brand, which is highly unethical. Baltany should cease supplying Watchdives. I will recommend that Baltany take this action.
Well I have been trying to find out whether there is controversy between these brands. So it seems as if Watchdives are getting greedy and stealing designs directly? What about the San Martin version at 37mm? Is this also Watchdives collaborating with San Martin to steal a Baltany design? Very cutthroat business.
I would never buy a Militado watch on principle. Militado intentionally tried to mislead people into confusion between themselves and Baltany. I respect Baltany and what they are trying to do too much to give Militado any of my money.
As far as I know, this brand has no relationship with Baltany. This so-called Militado brand is a blatant plagiarism of Baltany, which is disgusting, even the arc of the pointer is exactly the same. In fact, we can find that there are many subtle differences between Baltany’s chronograph and Hamilton’s, but Militado is exactly the same as Baltany’s, which is abominable
I believe we'll never fully understand the chinese dynamics. They probably just see brand names as temporary "outlets" for the watches produced by a few factories; or maybe they have very loose definitions of ownership in that regard. That said, i would pay a little more for the Baltany branded watch. I think they pay more attention to detail.
