The fight was yielding results until Former President JDM and his NDC Nation wreckers made political capital of Gov't actions. The ruling Gov't lost almost all major Galamsey constituency to the NDC. UTAG led by Prof Gyampo, Raymond Aquah of Joy etc refused to condemn aiding in the first place since 2010 with the Chinese. Hopefully the Gov't doesn't fall to this Propaganda this time. The fight is legitimate bit Gov't must be wide open to monitor Political Capitalisation by the NDC
Burning this equipments is a poor way of dealing with this issue. Just recently, the government procured a lot of this machines...why can't this machines be seized by the government as a punishment for those involved and used by government in local developmental projects?????
Here’s a question for anyone who cares to engage in a meaningful conversation: Why would any Ghanaian endowed with a functioning brain think that it’s okay to pollute the rivers or lakes that provide them drinking water for money?
i was thinking same thing, burning the metal n such into atmosphere ain’t too smart, but i guess they don’t have to logistical support to confiscate the machines. the government waiting too long thank God for giving the protestors the strength to go out and put pressure on government.
Governments failed us - NPP and NDC alike. The harm is already done. Heavy metals cannot be taken off the soil and the rivers. If this solution can be sustained then it may help a bit.
Use for what? An illegality is illegality and nothing else. Impounding them will not make the operation effective because the unseen powers will go behind to either release them to owners or steal them for their own purpose.
If the results are shown in the media as a regular feature and run alongside with associated health issues with galamsey, psychologically, everyone will understand and rally behind the efforts.
If you understand the politics in galamsey, you wouldn't make such a useless comment. The protests are politically motivated and needed a total public support with meticulous action to separate the chaff from the wean.
@@theophilusampiah5163 Mr wise and all knowing. Who knows what is useless or not. When your 60% of you waters are being toxically destroyed and it will take decades to restore. When people are at risk of poisoning and arable land and forests are being destroyed for generations, all you can think about is political interests and motivation. Just because it makes your party unpopular.
