I am a retired military spouse, my husband was in the Air Force for 22.5 years and our first base was in Germany but never got orders to Italy (which I had always wanted) but I don't regret overseas in Germany and also England. Enjoy being stationed overseas and take advantage of all the exploring and traveling...my closest friend is stationed at Aviano right now, they have been there for 3 years already.
I grew up in Niceville. For those who don’t know, that’s one of the towns that is just outside Eglin AFB. My family was not military, but I used to go over to my friends’ houses who were military. This was in the mid 90s for me. Military housing was double-wide trailers and single-wide trailers too. So glad they got rid of those because they were put in there in like the 70s. I don’t know who thought to put trailers for military housing in a base that gets pummeled by hurricanes several times a year.
When I was at Ft. Meade we had a large hall closet and I kept the litter box and cat food there with a child gate. It kept it safe from the dog. I didn't cut a hole, they just hopped over the gate. I had Siamese and they were very svelte and athletic.
Your house is so pretty! I love all the decor! Can’t wait to follow you on your journey to Italy. My husband is currently waiting for a ship date to bmt for the Air Force so super excited to get our journey on the way we plan on creating a RU-vid channel as well.
@@brittanyyycampbelll We are only on the list for Hurlburt. I’m fine with waiting for a bit longer to stay on this base because I love how close Josh is to work! Okay perfect! I was thinking that room would be best for our daughter and the other can be a nursery since it’s closer to the master. These houses are the same on both bases, right? They look like it
@@BBMcHugh I would wait it out too if you’re able to! When we first moved here we waited 2 weeks in TLF before our house was ready because we really wanted to be on base too! The houses are the same!
I’m coming from Aviano Italy to Eglin, I’ll be there in October! I heard on base housing is better just because of traffic and there’s a 2 pet rule. Aviano was my first duty station so I’m a lil nervous, but I’m from Tampa fl

Dear lady. How is life there? The houses are safe? Is there security there? There are no crocodiles that you come across when you go out to hang clothes ... you know what I mean ... these houses are Near the city? .. Is it necessarily an auto needed for the housewife and be able to reach the supermarket etc .. Doctor or everything is close? .. I will appreciate your answer. Thanks for your video.
My husband is looking into going into the reserves and so I’ve been trying to learn more about it too. We have two dogs how does that work with taking them? Ours are very well trained. Are you able to take them anywhere you go? Since you’re going to Italy will you be able to take them with?
We are moving there end of Oct/Early Nov, with a baby due in Dec. Beyond stressed is an understatement :( lol. I know the waitlist depends upon orders and rank; is the wait pretty long to get in? We plan on staying in the temp. lodging while waiting... but cant help being a bit worried we'll not have a home when baby gets here. 😥 P.S. Thank you for the awesome video! Major inspo/help for decorating base housing :)
As someone who grew up in poquito bayou in the early 2000s it’s insane to me how much they’ve improved the on-base housing. 😅 Poquito Bayou was the “cool” place to live at Eglin cause it was on the bayou, but now it’s al demolished and overgrown :(
Hi!! To answer you first question; depending on which housing you get you may or may not have a fence already installed. Warrior Landing the housing from the video these homes all come with fences installed already. Older homes known as Hidden Oaks, you may or may not have a fence. If you get a house in hidden oaks without a fence , yes you can install one! Your second question, yes you can install doorbell cameras!
Thanks. They told us they are building FGO housing so not even sure where that housing is on base. It's been hard to get much information, so I appreciate it.
@@philipschmelzer4394 hey! so the FGO housing is near warrior landing, probably about .50 away. we currently live in CGO housing waiting for the FGO housing to complete construction. they are nice with our own fences!

Your house is so nice! As i’m sitting here typing in a tiny 2 bedroom 1 bath base housing, about to move into a SMALLER 2 bed 1 bath house across the country 🙄🙄 I truly envy the space you have 😂😂
Hi! We loved our 5 years at Eglin! You’ll be a short trip away from exploring New Orleans & Orlando! In the local area the beach & all water activities are the most common things to do. We don’t have kids but have heard that Okaloosa County School District is really good! I hope that helps ☺️
