You could also probably find an Enfield spike Bayonet fairly easily over there. I picked up one over here in the 1980s for around 6 dollars with the frog attachment. I think they were selling inexpensively because they are more like a big nail than any kind of knife.
If you put your mind to it, like you did with your SAK buying, you could increase your collection size; however with knife laws being what they are across the shook, well it would cost a lot, and be harder to obtain legally. I've always liked bayonets from various countries, but I never went after collecting them specifically. I joined in 1975 so I know what you mean about it being ages ago. The Bayonet for my time was the one used on the M16 and I have one in my limited military bayonets, which happens to be only the M7. Mine is an Imperial.
I own a couple of bayonets WW2 and Vietnam conflict US manufactured and a K-bar I received during active duty in the US Navy backin 1981. I also have a couple of US made Victranox style folders issued to active duty sailors and an old electricians knife. Guess I have a collection of them. Thanks for sharing Paddy. Oh I used own a Enfield MK 1 rifle back in the early 1990s, fantastic old rifle that was dead accurate firing the 303 round. Traded it for a 22 caliber Marlin. 😢 big mistake.
I think the wood handle two-brass pin knife is the oldest pattern on your desk. It looks like an English Trade Knife made for Trading with American Indians for furs. It would last quite well on wooden sailing ships for about everything. From woodworking to kitchen duty, being a Trade knife Indians used them for scalping their enemies. They shipped them in barrels and most had no handle attached. ☘🥔🔪
@@gizmocarr3093 It could very well be.Joesph Rodgers and a few other old companies have been making the same pattern for a very long while.its a fantastic camp knife.👍☘️
Noooooooo...... I know that I enjoy classic & unusual militaria! I've been good, bought none for years, and let them go to a collector for a few hundred pounds at the time (Late 90's). ⚔️🪖 Watching this has given me the itch again... Paddddddy! 🤦♂️🤪 You're not alone, especially when you have been attached to the services. I totally get it, my friend 😉 Yes, an FS dagger is a must for your collection. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 They are some good replicas out there and also not so good, and perhaps I can help you with that. Also, Eric, at slick slicers, may know some selling one secondhand... Thanks for sharing, ATB Gus 👍🏻
