Hey Chase! Looking forward to a vid about why you left the army! I think it would be really cool if you talked about your hip injury/surgery and how you were able to bounce back from it/if it still impacts you now? I just had reconstructive surgery on my foot and, let's be honest, it freakin sucks (as does any type of surgery that impacts your ability to move, train, and simply do things on your own). It's really easy to get negative and down on yourself. Quite possibly just as much of a mental challenge as it is physical. Maybe you've already talked about this in a previous vid, but I'm new to the channel :) I admire your positivity, very inspiring to see where you're at now!

crypto linguist is badass man.. I just got cleared from MEPS yesterday and enlisted as a 35N, SIGINT. Looking forward to AIT and learning about things no one else gets to see.

The Army is the largest and generally always has the most opportunities than the other services. You may find them in the others, but not as likely to. This was what happened to me as well.

I know this is about a year late, so I hope you see it. First off, I found your video incredibly interesting and informative. Second, I have been looking into the military; what branch, what job, ect, ect. In particular, I am looking at joining the Air Force or the Army. You mentioned you considered all the branches, I was wondering if you have any insight towards how either of them (Air Force or Army) select your MOS? The army recruiter was very informative and pleasant to talk to, but there is the whole "recruiters lie" idea stuck in my head at the moment and I have gotten 3 different answers regarding how the Air Force selects your MOS (from the AF advisers and from an AF recruiter). Thank you very much for your time and I hope all is well with your RU-vid channel and retirement.

My father was a Russian language during the Cold War. I remember him telling me when he was stationed in Juneau Alaska that the Russians but flyover and laugh and say “Stupid Americans clothesthen my father left and pies and said “I hear you “then they would laugh. My father spoke fluent Russian that off until he died at the age of 71. He loves being a Russian language. You love this so much that he gave me a Russian name Tatiana. Is there a way to contact you? I would like to be a linguist and I have a lot of questions. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. Neither language is considered difficult but I have some familiarity with Japanese as I lived in Japan as a kid. I can recognize the language by the mixture of sounds and the writing but I will not understand it. However, I think I would be good at learning a language. I just a lot of questions and rather have my answers by someone who actually knows the answers. Thanks

Great video with great sights! I went through the fire academy at Goodfellow in 1996. I'd love to attend DLI. How often do you use the Russian language these days? Don't lose it!

Is there any way to prepare for the DLAB? I am going into the reserves as a 37f, have about three years of college under my belt so got a high score on the asvab pretty easily, but I feel like the language test is a whole different animal.. Plus, like you said, I do NOT want to be re-classed into something else! Thanks for the video!

I know this is an older video so I hope you still get this comment. First of all, thank you so much for your service. I’m a prior service Marine myself. 1371 Combat Engineer. I’m wondering if you can help me out a little bit. I’m considering re-enlisting into the Marine Corps with a lat move to the Intelligence field. I’ve already checked and I have the ASVAB scores to do so. What I would like to know is, what career opportunities are realistically there after life in Military Intelligence? Is this re-enlistment a potential stepping stone to a long and fruitful career or would I likely be looking at retiring from the military in order to find a good paying job. I wanted to be a 35P, but I missed the minimum DLAB score of 107 by 3 points. Now, I'm looking towards 35M as an alternative since the Army is returning to having the requirement of learning a language for that MOS (according to my recruiter). Would you say your DLAB score ultimately determines your language assigned at DLI? I've read around forums online that even if someone scored lower than the Cat. IV minimum, they were still assigned something like Mandarin

Thanks for sharing. Though you hated school you have a lifetime skill! And if you have kids, teach them Russian! I am studying Polish (Class 4 like Russian) on my own. My father is fluent in Polish and did not pass it down to his children. It is a lot more challenging than Spanish!

Hi Chase, I am currently a civilian getting my MA in International Relations. I hope to work for one of the intelligence agencies or a private sector company as an intelligence analyst. Any tips on getting an entry level job in the intelligence field with no prior experience?

Interesting! I was a 96B Intel Analyst (no language training ) eventually met some linguists but they didnt work in a SCIF. cant say what they did but i was so jealous that they never wore BDU's and boots, except for occasional photo or dress uniform inspections.

I was able to score just enough on the DLAB, I got a 98 when the minimum score required was a 95, and chose 35M, military intelligence collector, for my MOS. I leave on February 1st for my basic training at Fort Sill. Any other 35M here that can give me some insight on their experience? Or any tips before I go?

How did they teach you Russian? I doubt they said "here's your Rosetta stone login, goodluck" Was it just a lot of classroom type stuff and speaking to people who are fluent?

I was a USAF 14N out of the 25th AF,So if you were Crypto, you would have had a 13.5 clearance as the President is only a 17, growing up as a child on a Top Secret base my parent both were USAF R&D I've seen a lot of crazy stuff,but after the basic Military clearances with USAPS or SAPS there's a list of 28 numbered clearances, and each clearance could have an SAP or USAP connected, after the Numbered our or top named top programs, excluding Q clearance which is DOE because you need guys with all across the boards to fix power issues, because every project needs electricity, I'm pretty sure the guy online called Q had or has that clearance, but they did such a good job on me I cracked the whole top ten Programs all 10,not just the names but the key master of what each one are working on ,if you wanna see some mind-blowing shit ask me and ill send you some crazy sht it will change youre life,
