The “tannin water” from the boiled acorns can be saved and re-used to tan animal hides if you find yourself in a longer-term survival situation. It can also be used as a mouth rinse if it’s not too strong.
@mikelgeren149
@mikelgeren149 2 года назад
It's also anti fungal, anti bacterial .
@andydaniels3029
@andydaniels3029 2 года назад
@@mikelgeren149 I was just going to suggest that the tannin water could be used as an antiseptic for small cuts or wounds. Tannins are also highly astringent, so it would also be good for stemming blood loss and encouraging wound closure.
@SCCIT-jq6jh
@SCCIT-jq6jh 2 года назад
Correct, it's called vegetable tanning. You need alot more than that though. With vegetable tanning you will get hairslip and it's good for hairless hide. You must scrape the hide and get rid of all hair.

The acorn tannin water can be used to treat blisters. The astringent tannins will toughen the skin quite rapidly around open blisters and other small abrasions. Soak some cloth and apply as a compress repeating as necessary (fyi this also works with tea bags around the house). Great content 👍. I like how it’s straight to the point and edited tightly without a wasted second.

Add to the list of poisoning-by-plant the common oleander bush., otherwise know as dogbane. The leaf may look edible, but you, horses, or dogs must not eat it. Don't even burn it.

You can modify the metal handcuff key to make it work with different cuffs and also to to use it easyer when cuffed. Tipps from me: Cash and a small button compass can help (they fit in a belt, coin pocket of pants and other places). Peacock pocket warmers are very good at keeping you warm and better than all others i have tried (chemical + charcoal). As for the filter: Is it really safe? Because i heard different statements from different people. Also what is with chemicals in the water including gas/oil which can reasonably be expect in military settings? YOu can use the heads of the acorns to whisstle by putting it between your fingers. Louder than any comercial whistle i have used or heard. Btw i think the therm EDC gets missused and abused. All depends or atleast it should. Stay safe

You should add a tube of super glue and laser pointer. Super glue was issued during Nam. war as a means of controlling bleeding. Of course you could use it as adhesive. Laser pointer for signalling. Make it easy especially for air rescue. Physical fire means you can't go anywhere cause you have to feed the fire. Laser let you move to another location cause you can immediately signal with no maintenance.

Thanks for this video… A person can’t be too prepared, can they??? But, boy howdy how we wish we were when something happens and we aren’t… So much info given on this video, most verbal and other info non verbal.. like the bent branch to hold the nut as you crack if with a stick… I would’ve just hit my fingers until they bled, figuring it out the hard way… For some reason, I thought you’d lose your callouses when you became a major… I guess I was wrong… You have callouses and blood blisters… Thanks for your dedicated service.. Chestnuts and prickly pear are a couple of natural foods that will need cooking before consumption. One is not exactly likely to find these products together, though. So glad to see you here. Callouses and blood blisters remins me of when we Boy Scouts mad hemp rope from baling twine with the DIY tools that we had improvised.
