All conservatives know how to do is punish. Everything they don’t like is criminalized: drug-addiction, homelessness, abortion…all of these are outcomes that can be mitigated by policies that help rather than hurt, but there’s no attempt to maybe use our tax dollars to pay for healthcare, education, a strong safety net…the first and only attempts to address any issue is to punish the victims. It’s so frustrating.

My first Presidential election I voted McGovern because if you educate yourself then why do you continue to be a racist POS? I’m proud that I’ve always supported progressive, liberal agendas. I marched against the War in Vietnam Nam, for the ERA and for gay rights (bisexual though married to a man for 40 yrs.) Another Trump term is my worst nightmare. Religion is art. There are/were thousands of religions.

I've read the Bible twice in my lifetime. I never understood it. Especially the Old Testament. I asked questions too. But I never could shake the feeling of much this book sounds like it was written by some racist, bigoted, white man. My parents always told me God is love. If you're good, you'll go to a place called heaven where we will all be together again. If you're bad and don't believe in God, you go to hell where you burn for eternity. It all just sounds so made up. I want to believe we do see our loved ones in the afterlife, even animals. But I'm not sure I have to believe a book that has some violence and hate towards others in it. Even so called Christians have a different interpretation if you were to asked each one what a scripture meant. But it's always THEIR meaning that's right.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God. Just reading as if reading any other book, it's not easy to understand. That's why you need the Holy Spirit to show you how He sees it. Not all preachers are filled with the Spirit of God, so they can't lead or teach something they don't know for themselves. This is a time that we should be reaching out to God for His guidance and grace.
