In this video I show a small modification I have done with the East German Army or NVA (Nationale Volkarmee) combat pack. When I have tried out this pack I have had a big problem with the shoulder straps coming unhooked when set up the way the NVA had recommended. Once fixed these are cheap well made packs that would work as Assault Packs. They would work great for inclusion in spare equipment for passing out to people in an emergency.
