I read through the comments and not sure it was mentioned but at the 3:01minute mark on your video you guys have a machine that grooms, scratches, massages (not sure what it does exactly other then making the lady cow feel really good) the lady cow's back and sides. This is the ultimate in caring for your cows. Though these cows are your "bread and butter" for making a living, the true CARING and LOVE you have for the lady cows is awesome and impressive. You do the jokes with the Mtn Dew cans and such but your concerns for your herd is very inspiring. Don't ever loose that quality!!!
So much grace under pressure was observed in this episode. As far as the troublesome rock that had a cameo appearance, what ideas do you have for it? Add it a collection alongside a barn? Give it to someone as a gift? Auction it to your plethora of steady viewers? Use it as a doorstop?
That was wild, when I was a kid it was way more labor intense. Being the kid my job was to stamp the siege down while loading, then when feeding pitch it down by hand. The filling was way different also. Very nice vlog. Thank you. Oh ya, This was back in the 1940s.
The best part about a discbine is how fast we can cut fields but man it was nice having a haybine for when stuff was laying over. The reel would really help with picking it all up
yay...will watch tonight after supper! :) :) About a month ago I started watching whole catalog of video's beginning from the start over a yr. ago!! Am now up to 4 months ago!! Plus always watch current video when posted! yay...ya-hoo mt. dew!! :) I want to get a job with Eric...following him around all day with a small cooler filled with milk and mt. dew!! I won't require pay...just his teachings will do!! :) :) :)
I don't know why but watching the cows use those brushes you set up for them just tickles me. I love the way you put it in almost every video. Congratulations on your subscribers hitting 200,000!! Nice job.
WOW.. Fantastic views on top of the Silo, Glad you are not afraid of heights .. standing on top of silo with no straps holding you AND at ten pm too 😎.. I would not make ten feet off the ground.. Glad you had a good vacation, to rest up for all the long hours you put in
After learning so much about farming watching Cole the Cornstar, Saskdutchkid, Sonne Farms and your channel I am so amazed that after so many years cultivating the same fields you still hit rocks! Seems they would all be uncovered by now.
I really like the fact that even if something mechanical goes bad you stay calm and you deal with it. You have an amazing work ethic.. Also congrats on 200K
I have been a subscriber for several months now, I mainly started to watch the beautiful Dairy cows that you have. I have watched several other channels and there are not very many at all sadly that take such Prime good care of their dairy cows. Yours all look so clean and healthy. I never see the diarrhea splattered all over the backs of their rumps and legs and feet. My happiest views are that They love to go by those rolling machines. I love how they creep up to you shyly looking to see what you're doing. I know that you work from sunup to sundown and never have many breaks in between. You have to give it to the heart of a farmer and dairy Man. Today when I saw all of the work that goes into getting your Machinery up and working properly, and then knowing that you had five to six hours sitting in the tractor cutting in raking. Plus climbing up then back down going back and forth to get things out of the barn to get things to work properly again or climbing The Silo in the heat to get things fixed at the top. I just have to day that ad young as you are, you have a fantastic and almost unheard of work ethic. Please, please wear sunglasses. The damage might be done at this point but did you know that you will get cataracts from not shading your eyes. It might help to keep the dust out of your eyes also. But every time you got out of the tractor over looking towards the sunset you spent most of your day today or when this was filmed squinting, which means that your eyes are in distress. I never wore sunglasses when I was outside and I never had a job like you where I was outside all day working and guess what? I got cataract and I have to have surgery on my eyes why are there splicing my eyes open and taking out part of my eye and putting in a little piece of something in there well I'm awake!! Is that something that you want to look forward to? Please wear sunglasses that are approved by an eye doctor to be strong enough for the style of work that you do. Blessings to you and your family that you move on and have a XI generation Farm Boy coming up here in a few years! I was just wondering, does your dad do any milking any more?
Thanks for what you guys sacrifice (like sleep) to bring us the delicious milk! I live in the state right next to your guy’s state (Maryland) so I probably get some milk from you guys! Thanks again and keep making the great videos!
Having helped on a farm for two summers I remember cutting silage and blowing it into the Harvester. It wasn't a real tall silo but it tended to get plugged up on top and since I was the least afraid of heights I got to climb to the top and unplug it. I also have really bad allergies and back then the modern medications like Claritin and such didn't exist so it was take benadryl and carry a large hanky all day long. Good honest work and even got pretty good at backing up dual wagons when necessary...
here really isn't enough hours in the work day to be waiting on repairs to milk pumps. I was surprised at the size of the rock in the alfalfa field , considering it was recently tilled, seeded, atc. Fortunately the fix to the mower was quick and easy. 🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜 🚜
The cows must be milked! Poor things painfully full of milk, twice a day. over 7 gallons a day! That's why they are so cool about coming in, turning perfectly into the milking position, and waiting patiently to be relieved of all that weight and pressure. Amazing what you do to get us milk.
Your Parents should be very proud ,Most kids are in the basement playing games and your working your butt off everyday ! Keep up the great work and videos !
It’s hard starting a day with mechanical failures especially when they were just serviced! Gotta love productive alfalfa fields green on green is good for the cows and you !!Lol 😂 just love the alfalfa cuttings. Thanks great video!!🚜
I'm not a farme, However I think you ansewered your question regurding the airbags. Taking up air volume within the silo to achive lower oxygen and moisture levels is my guess. ;) Also. Crazy hours big guy. Go Family Farms!!!!
Eric , your crops look really good . That alfalfa looked really nice . You guys have a beautiful farm . I must tell you I again I really enjoyed the video with your dad . It’s amazing how long that farm is in your family . Drink more milk !
Tom Pemberton gave your site a plug and I watched so many of your videos now, gone back a year! Keep up the the great videos. Mountain Dew jokes funny too!
Your farm is the largest operation I have seen. So interesting to watch. You're a hard working family. I am watching your previous videos too. Best wishes.
Here is an explanation for the airbags in the silo: In turn sealed silos, countervailing pressure bags also called breather bags or lungs (breather bags) limit decomposition by restricting oxygen intake; harvest, trim bags are used to control the pressure inside the silos.
In my humble opinion your videos are doing a great deal to educate and form positive public opinion on the value of American farmers. We urban dwellers are in your debt. Thank you!
"Gota run this sileage through the cows before it becomes milk...(Sticks his hand into the sileage and pulls out a small Choc. Milk) Oh, it's magic, MILK !"
Wish I knew where. I milked 200+ head on my uncle's farm in Michigan. 4 am and 4pm everyday. The fields were full off stones. Our tractors were an old Farmall Super M and an H. Work never ended but the most pleasurable and enjoyable time of my life. I sure miss it.
You might think about having two pumps in tandem and use them on alternating days. then if one goes bad you have a spare until the bad one gets fixed. Goo looking crop of corn. Amazing how the Mountain Dew seeds sprout up where you least expect them. The ladies have their eyes on you Eric, better be careful. Great video, lost of stuff to watch and learn. thanks. Happy Father's Day to you. Sleep well.
I think the leaves were still a bit crinkly because of the dust but as the evening goes on the moisture will come up on the feed. 15% seems a bit low to me as we would add molasses to keep the sugar content high. Cows loved it.
The breather bags are what helps keep the Harvestore air tight. When the silo gets hot the air inside expands and squeezes air out of the bags, when the silo cools then the bags expand using air from outside the silo. This keeps the gases in the silo from mixing with the air outside the silo since only the bags are vented outside the silo.
If they dont get milked in time they get nervous and sometimes not milking in time can affect milk production and cow might start producing less milk in day or two
Lot of leaf dust coming off the chopper and wagon dump first loads. No dust off the rack with the dew on Nice. We used to do lotus major hay, loved the yellow flowers We milked Grade C 60 years ago, for cheese factory
Milking parlor sure looks great. The new floor pads and side panels really make it look new and clean.!!!!! Great job!! I enjoy your youtube channel. Best wishes for a strong summer!!
