Ashley and I went camping under the stars last Saturday. I brought my camera and astrophotography lenses to capture the beautiful Milky Way!
I hope you enjoy the photos I took, and that you are able to get to some dark skies this summer to captures the Milky Way for yourself!

Hey Trevor! I've been watching your videos for about 4 years, since less than 4k subs. I'm 15 now, but I got into AstroBackyard since I was pretty young. I just wanted to say that your videos have literally changed my life and I really respect and appreciate the time and effort you put into your art. I just recently bought a RedCat 51, got my old camera astro-modified, bought some filters and a mount. I wouldn't be starting astrophotography without you. Thank you so much and even though I have SO many questions about astrophotography, I would have so much less if it wasn't for AstroBackyard. Thank you for everything and taking me along in your journey and giving me the knowledge to start my own.

Yep, what's cool is that once you learn the night sky, it will stay the same forever (aside from comets and nova) but the tech used to record it gets better and better. Enjoy a life long hobby!

It would be nice if my city had a day where all light goes off. So I can truly see the wonders of the sky. I've never seen the milky way. One day I hope do capture an image like you do.

If you have the ability, just drive out 30 mins from the city. Usually it's dark enough for you to get a glimpse of the Milky Way.

That “central core” pic has got me jealous - look at how the lagoon and eagle stand out - amazing! I noticed that Trevor is mounting the DSLR directly to the Star Adventurer, without a ball head adapter or anything like that. Doesn’t that mess up the orientation of the sensor to the horizon?

Yes it limits the pointing orientation on the sensor but in this case I just rotated the image in post!

love the milky way shots, you can see the swan and eagle nebulas and the coat hanger cluster so clearly. Have not tried to shoot the milky way before but definitely will at some point.

@@AstroBackyard Hey Trevor, I recently went camping up north at French River just east of Noelville, Ontario and I was looking forward to see the Milky Way there because according to the Bortle Scale Map it is a class 2 site. However come night time, not many stars appeared in the sky and appeared as if it is class 7 or 8 on the scale which was very disappointing. We did have a full moon though. I was wondering why that was the case and what are some of the best actual class 1 or 2 sites I can go to and what the best map there is.

Hey fellow Canadian, I really like your videos an particularly their "you are there" style slow pace. You really show your passion and it's contagious. I remember your first planet image you made of Saturn (with the Celestron Edge HD 11) and the emotion you showed at the end, looking at a final image on your monitor ; it was priceless

Hey Trevor! I'm the one who tweeted you my Milky Way shots from this weekend. Just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to get out there and truly experience the night sky. I've lived in a Bortle 8/9 my whole life, and finally drove out 6 hours to Black Mesa State Park in northwestern Oklahoma, which is a Bortle 1! The shots I was able to capture were beyond my wildest dreams and it was something I'll truly never forget.

Another wonderful video! The 25th was my 41st birthday and I spent it camping and trying out some milky way shots that night as well. I was at Succor Creek State Park in Oregon. Wonderfully dark sky. I set my alarm for midnight to make sure the moon was out of the way and got a few decent shots. Just got my tracker in the mail today so I'm excited to move into this other aspect of photography and to do it right. Your videos have been a great help along the way! Thank you. Also, I loved the doggy bed with the stuffed animal. :)
