That's one heck of a ride up those cliffs, in Norway we have allot of such roads, i remember driving on a similar kind of road, i sat in the car all tense, jesus the road was so narrow, i couldn't even breath, sometimes it just feels like you're about to roll over the edge.

This is one of my favorite videos both because of the location and because of "We did NOT just walk in a circle. Did we walk in a circle? We just walked in a circle!" LOL LOL LOL I'm going to repeat and elaborate on what James suggested. Don't just drop a pin; record a track. I would go even further. Whenever I'm on a photog adventure I have a track running from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. It's primarily for geotagging images (I export the tracks to my computer when I get home and then use LR to geotag my files) but a track can definitely save you in this type of situation. In fact, it saved me twice last month on Cedar Mesa at Fallen Roof Ruin and Tower Ruin when I would have otherwise gotten myself lost twice. I suggest a specific app: GAIA GPS. It's expensive. Brendan isn't going to like that. But it is AWESOME. The main thing that I like is that GAIA gives you a free web account. You can do all your planning at your home PC. You can add waypoints, you can pre-plan routes, you can create map sets using different maps (topo maps, NPS maps, USFS maps, etc.) and layers (topo shading, hiking trails, etc.) You then save these maps in your online library and download them to your smartphone when you need them. They are offline maps so you use no data and never require a cell signal. When you're in the field it is effortless to switch between maps, map types, and layers. You can control the opacity to suit your particular needs at the moment. I consider it the ultimate navigation tool for outdoor photography. I can't say enough good things about it. And even when you're done with your adventure and need to delete your maps to free up space on your phone, your maps with all customizations are retained in your online account for when you need them again. A couple notes about the locations. The long series of gravel switchbacks that climb up and down off Cedar Mesa is called the Moki Dugway. It was originally built for the benefit of a uranium mining operation if memory serves. At the very top, west side of the highway, there is an unpaved road out to Muley Point. It is only signed from one direction. If the road isn't wet (you don't want to be on these clay roads if they are saturated with water) you can drive five miles to a series of spectacular viewpoints. You not only look down on the goosenecks (can't see the river) but out toward Monument Valley and toward Mexican Hat. There are campsites there too. I've been meaning to join your Facebook group. When I do I'll post some images. Finally, if you're in Goblin Valley you are a very short distance from two great slot canyons. Little Wild Horse Canyon is just minutes away and is a nice accessible and photogenic slot canyon. (It's also just about as busy as a trail in Yosemite during the summer-at least on the weekend we were there.) Nearby Crack Canyon is also quite photogenic. It requires more effort to reach so it was largely empty when we hiked through. If you are at Goblin Valley and have the time, these are two "can't miss" stops.

How clear is the Milky Way to the naked on in an area as dark as this? Love your videos!
