Thanks ! Very informative video.. Sold my "Mesh II" recently, and this sound exactly as that.. Many of the "songs" are identical to the ones in the Alesis !
@@themiscelettobros. I don't know if 8 can be done, but surely 5. In fact, I've added two more cymbals, using the rim sound of two toms, using a Cordial CFY 0,3 KPP from Thomann
@@nickmanolas It would be the same. The problem you can have is how to attach it to the rack. I think you woulh have to buy a stand (it has been difficult even to arrange the cymbals, and it uses so less space). Anyway, I have not found mps850 toms to sale in thomann
Not keen on the in-built sounds (I rarely am with ANY of these e-kits, tbh). BUT hooking it up to a vst plugin like Addictive Drums 2 or similar would take this kit to a WHOLE different level!
I just bought it and seems really sturdy at least for my playing style.I dont know how it would hold on the long run or a heavier hand than mine. The only problem i want to warn everyone who wants to buy this kit is setting up customising the hi hat it needs to be tweaked a lot to get it good enough to be able to play complex and fast stuff with the pedal.
@@DoomHasCame Chrck the manual. Its quite easy to get it started the difficult part is fine tuning the triggers section so the hi hat and the pedal respond according to you playing.
Thank you thank you thank you. Keyboard player for many years, I've always been a frustrated drummer. My mum passed away recently and has left a small amount that I'd like to spend on an electronic kit. Having bounced between the Roland TD-17 and 27 kits (WHAT: they've brought out the V2?!), I was worried about splashing out on kit that I might think, "Nah, not for me." Hello Thomann, along comes the Millenium MPS-850 on to the radar. Your review was exactly what I needed, and being a synth man, as soon as I got to about 7:00 808 Kit: SOLD. Thank you...did I say that already?
Nice video mate! As i'm a left drummer, all i want to know if it's possible to build the rack for a left handed drummer. Is it possible? or do i have to search for another kits? I played in my 15s and now i'm almost 29, it would be just for fun but i really need to know if i can turn all the rack or not! Thanks in advance and again compliments for this video!
Sounds similar to alesis crimson line. almost even hijacked! maybe a little more machine gunning but not bad for a lower / low mid level kit. Good enough for basic practice and maybe a through a speaker with bass turned heavier might work in some gigs. How much is it? Nice demo playing!!! Tasteful!
Update … I really think this was stolen from OR made by alesis with crimson sounds!!! Almost identical. I have strike se and a crimson.. so similar to rhe crimson!
both the alesis crimson mesh line and milllenium mps lineup, at least 750x and 850 are made by the same company named Medelli. both Alesis and Millenium are buying pre-made drums and slapping their own branding on them.
@@jamessummers2491 I didn’t realize medelli also made the modules! I knew they made the cymbals. Thanks for the info but that said, this kit is a steal at the price for a mid level type kit
@@jamessummers2491 I didn’t realize medelli also made the modules! I knew they made the cymbals. Thanks for the info but that said, this kit is a steal at the price for a mid level type kit
Great demo. I do miss one sound though in almost all of the electronic kit demo's. Most of the drummers will buy one because off the low- noise level whilst practicing at home. So what I would like to hear is the amount off noise you hear when you are in the room not having a headphone on your head or in the room next to the practicing room. What do my neighbors hear when I'm practicing. Maybe a tip for next demo?
Is it possible to combine sounds of different drum kits and tune each pad separately? Does it have hall or reverb effect? Is it possible to install new sounds?
Yes, you can mix and match every sound to create your own user kits. The available effects are: reverb, distortion and compression. There's also a 4 band equalizer. it's possible to load a new sample using a usb stick. Maximum sample size is 15 MB. It must be stored as a WAV file (mono) with a resolution of 16 bit and a sampling rate of maximum 48 kHz.
Nice one! Got my MPS-850 and set it up yesterday. Going to make a YT video on it. I'm also an open-handed player - will re-watch this as you're a far better player than me and hopefully I can learn something :)
How easily do the rim shots work? Might buy one.. What is your opinion worth the money? And much can you change the sound of each pad? Like for instance I don't like the snare sound can it be switched to another on the fly or do you need a laptop and samples from there and run through a program..? Would love if you answer :) Very nice playin mate! Very nice indeed!!!
The rims have a separate trigger, so you can assign any sound you want to them, easily. I'm sure there are other ekits out there with the same features, I don't know them all, but this is a good deal, a lot of bang for your buck. You can change the sound of every pad very easily, everything you listened to in the video are sounds and songs included in the module, so no further purchase necessary. Of course if you have the time and money you can hook it up to a laptop running Superior Drummer and instantly upgrade the sounds (i.e. the sounds of Superior Drummer are the best in the business). Thanks for the compliments, Cheers!
Planning to buy this kit as well, I play professional for over more than a decade but the thing is that the Roland or Yamaha kits in my opinion are way to expensive in this price category... Do you recommend it for someone like me just using it for rehearsels with a band and practicing? Thing is that I'm still coming back to this kit pricewice!
Yes, I would recommend it. It's not perfect, you have to get used to the hi hat action.... but for the price it's a bargain. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Hi dude! Me too. So. I am actually a rock/metal/prog drummer (hobbyist) and my wife proposed to buy an ekit for the kids, back in 2019. Yeahhh, for the kids ... mhm... I bought EZDrummer2 at that time and baaaaammm... Catched! I mean the sounds are quite ok, but with a drum sampler. Have a look into my profile. I still use those pads. You're right. Roland is quite expensive and there also use just a 50cent piezo. Ok the build quality is better but - see - Acutally I bought some used Alesis pads or other FAME/Millenium pads. For toms definitely ok. I don't know, maybe check out the LEMON edrum kit. I use serveral cymbal pads and a 12" tom pad and its working. Anyway I was quite happy with the MPS-850 and started the VST drumming journey, it's so versatile, sounds so good. As a hobby drummer , even semi pro I won't hire a studio for recording drums....
Hi, great video, thanks for sharing. A question: have you found any problem with the hi hat when you open it and close it or any issue with related? I saw some people complain about that.
Yeah, the hi hat sometimes can be temperamental, but it's manageable. I believe there's a new firmware update that should resolve most of the problems. I still have to install it. Thanks for watching!
Yes, I've already tried with superior drummer, you can assign to tom's rims any instrument you want (cymbals, cowbells etc.). Thanks for watching, Cheers!
Just got this kit today. They sent me a 220v power supply instead of the correct 110v. can't even use a typical effect pedal supply because those are center ground. This takes center pos. hard to believe.
Hi, I've got a question. Is there a way to import songs to play along to onto the kit? I've tried importing some via USB but it's not working even though I followed the sample instructions from the manual. Do you have any idea why?
Was this your first time using it? You play really good....my dream but never gave it a shot because I felt you had to have a gift from God to play drums with both hands and both feet all doing something different at the same time....
Thank you for the kind words. It's never too late to learn drums. Nowadays it's easier than ever because with youtube you can access tons of free lessons whenever you want! The secret is to be patient and persevere. Good luck!
No daw. The module allows you to record yourself, I just inserted a usb key, pressed the record button and that was it. I then took the file from the usb key and synchronized it with the video file of the camera.
Im having problems with the hi hat. The sound sometimes cuts off and the splash sound is very inconsistent and triggers when im not trying to trigger it. Any fixes
I wish nothing but success for this company. Roland kits are way too expensive. Maybe a little competition will bring the prices down on the higer end kits.
It really depends on the sensitivity parameters you have assigned to the pad... the more you play, the more you fine tune it. It's trial end error. The most difficoult thing, in my opinion, is to really have a natural sounding bell on the ride, so you don't play it too hard. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
The trigger zone of kick pad is set too low. When i try to have beaters hitting centre of kick pad it doesnt trigger so i ve set them lower. Is this why you kept beaters low as well?
Interesting... I didn't try to strike the center of the pad because that's the normal beater height for me, and I usually play a 20" acoustic bass drum in the center... that kick pad really is to high, and you can't adjust it! it's weird but it worked fine anyway. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
Hi, Really enjoyed your video. One thing I'm always wondering about e-kit cymbals is can they swell/roll like a normal cymbal would? Have you tried this on the 850?
Lo único que cuento aquí es con mi viejo bongo pero soy baterista frustrado nunca e podido tener un druns me encanta ese druns de cuatro tones de aire ese es mi sueño tener un Millenium
what is the space in cm / meter of foot print that this whole kit with loud speaker would take up in a living room? thanks ... it looks amazing for this price!
alright, is still pretty decent footprint for being a full kit... someone told me now this is not a good choice for an adult due to a limitation of how high one can get the drums set up from the frame... is this correct, that is very low down and more suited for young teens than adults when it comes to the maximum height one can set it up at? thanks for getting back @@themiscelettobros.
@@themiscelettobros. That is true. Have you ever played on one? Do you know if the Millenium MPS-850 works well with software like EZDrummer and others?
Sorry, never tested the nux. The millenium will work with ezdrummer, the only problem could be the hi hat...with realistic sounds like those, it would be better to use a hi hat with cc, in order to playing smoothly the various samples of closed/half open/open hi hat.
Certo. Scegli un kit, poi premi MENU. "Voice" viene evidenziato. Premi ENTER. Ciao!
Nice drumlines. This is very nice looking and sounding kit. But how's the kit now? I'm still not sure what to get, between this or entry level yamaha/roland kit. Thanks for the demo.
Hi, thanks for the kind words. The difference between the Roland/Yamaha entry level kits and this one is that the MIllenium has the mesh pads. Mesh pads are quiet, and offer a nice surface to play on. Maybe the other kits have better hardware, but I think the Millenium is ok. I'm not a hard hitter, so the the kit is ok for me. Hope this helps. Ciao!
Good video! I'm just wondering if you tried it past 300bpm? I play a lot of death metal and my only concern is that the bass drum pad may not respond to each beat at faster tempo
@@themiscelettobros. Ok but, it would be assigning it when hitting the pad, I want that sound to be produced when the rim is hit with the stick, do you know how to do it?
@@themiscelettobros. Could you do a tutorial on how to configure those sounds? Believe me, many drummers in the world who have that type of electric drum will thank you and give you good recommendations and many likes.
Yes, it's the bass drum! It's a lot of fun: everytime you hit the bass drum, a different synth note is played simultaneously. You can hear it clearly at the beginning, when I play only the bass drum. Thanks for watching!
Sure. Select a kit. Press MENU. "Voice" is highlighted. Press ENTER. Now play the rim: with the big wheel on the right you can select every sound you want to assign to the rim (all the sounds are listed at the end of the manual). Remember to press SAVE. You can now press EXIT to get out of the voice menu. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Hi, on the hi hat stand (below the cymbal) there's a "memory lock": try to losen it up with the drumkey. Now you can lower the stand to your desire height. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Great video - I've had this kit for three years as a complete beginner. I'm building my speed up and finding the hi hat to be a particularly questionable. I also cant seem to stop it spinning around so the rubber part is on the other side of the stand (I'm using a lot of tape to try and keep it central). Do you think it is possible to replace the hi hat stand with a third party one?
@@themiscelettobros.Hey! I already have an Alesis Nitro mesh kit and im about to upgrade to this kit and make it sound better with ezdrummer. My plan is that with splitters expand the kit with a more cymbals. Do you think its worth it?
So I watched like a million of these vids where everyone opens the hi hat, hits it and then closes it. It's like nobody knows you can hit it closed, open it and it makes a schwoop sound or it doesn't work so I am now going to assume the latter. Nobody heard Funky drummer I guess. lol
This is a cheap kit, (no cc on the hi hat), so you have to adjust your techinique accordingly. Besides, it is forbidden to play Funky Drummer on a e-drumkit... by the Godfather Himself.
Not great review. Don't know anything about the hihat functionality or whether or not tom rim triggers can be assigned to something else. This was mostly some guy who likes to play for the camera.
Glad you liked it! Seriously, in my defence I chose to demonstrate the songs and sounds... like the title of the video says. No other video review focused on this topic at the time, so I did it.
Hi! I Just got Mine yesterday. It is all setup. Now that I practiced...I noticed the Kickpedal moving around a lot. Do any of you guys Here have an idea how I can fix This? Thanks ✌️
Hi, try to add some piece of rubber material over the "tongue" of the kick pad, this way the pedal can clamp a little better. I hope this helps, cheers
Ideally need to change the title so it doesn't say review. You don't review it at all!!!! And where is the testing of cross stick, rim shot, choke and 3rd zone bell?!?!?
I did a brief review in the beginning of the video, and I played the sounds and songs that I preferred at the end... I tried to highlight the things I didn't see in other videos, the things that to me are the most important like the quality of the materials, factory sounds and songs, easy access menus. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
