Millennium Wheel London Eye Opening 31 Dec 1999 

The world's biggest observation wheel, named the British Aiways London Eye because of the sponsorship from the airline. This is the live broadcast made by the BBC featuring the opening 'turn' of the wheel. Actually the wheel did not move due to technical complications, the light display tried to make up for it but did not quite succeed. Opened by the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. In 2005 BA sponsorship ceased, the BA name was dropped from the logo. Although the title of the world's biggest ferris wheel goes to the wheel in Singapore, the London Eye remains the biggest cantilevered observation wheel in the world, and the top tourist attraction for the capital.
