Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC Pulse TIG 

Man I’ve been welding for almost 2 decades and I’m sitting here watching you weld. I stick and flux core mostly. I started my own business and looking to brush up on my tig. You do amazing work my friend!

My new Weld Monger TIG gloves arrived yesterday! After doing my happy dance I put them on and wore them around the house in the afternoon. I was very sad when my wife told me I had to remove them while we ate dinner. LOL Great product Jody!

Thanks for another great video Jody! Had a 215 on order but decided on a 220 to have the AC tig option. Little backyard side deal going on since taking a desk job kind of missing the game!

Just last week, I ran into the same type of welding scenario and was fighting a squirly arc. The arc also wanted to extend straight down, behind the electrode, rather than inline with the tip of the electrode. The steel tube did not have mill scale and was 16ga 1"x3" with 22.5 degree miters and even a couple pieces laying parallel. I grind the 2% thoriated on a dedicated bench grinder wheel and then slightly blunt the tip, and run 20 cfh of argon. The joints were prepped with a flap wheel but they were half and half of super tight fit and some with a 1/16" gap or so. It had all the same joints as in your video and I opted to fuse the corners vertical downhill without filler, due to how thin it was and the 1" length of the corner. My thought was maybe the ground clamp location (on my fab block welding table, but with clamps holding the tube to the table), contamination or oil from the inside of the tube (washed the outside), sheilding gas issue, or grind on tungsten. Unfortunately, I am using a Miller 330abp, but would love to have the capability of the miller 220. Instead, I bought the Miller 211 inverter a few years back and it is a very capable, and versatile machine that is light enough to take to job sites and can do some work on 120v while having the same umph as the 220.......easily handling 3/8" material. The pulsed weld is amazing in your video and would be so nice to have in the 220, although a dynasty 280 would be my dream machine.

Thanks Jody, timely video. I just got a new DC machine with pulse. Can you do a video on DC Tig plug/rosette welds on sheet metal? I'm thinking getting the pulse settings right might help me with the edge of the top piece retreating from the arc.

I'm going back and watching your videos over again. I enjoy the lessons. I was wanting to ask you. You do something I don't believe I've seen anybody else do it. At the end of the weld during post flow you rest the tungsten on top of the finished weld. What exactly does that do? I appreciate your time.

Do you have any videos on how to minimize warping on thin aluminum? I've welded a lot on steel, SS, inconel, and Titanium but it just seems like thin aluminum warps differently than thin steel.

No matter what you're TIG welding...can't be too clean. That carbon steel tubing usually has oil inside from the manufacturing process....Good that you mention that here several times...!

Just picked up a 220 Multimatic. Dropping down 2 thicknesses is a great tip for mig vertical or horizontal. I’ve got to do a lot of practice/learning.

How important is HF start on mild steel. I know it's not required, but is it really helpful or worth paying extra for?

Have you ever found it hard to taper off when using pulse. Do you get any crater cracks or any other defects at the end of the weld. I’ve never had the chance to use pulse it doesn’t look hard but it’s just something I’ve never been able to experience

Hi I have a coupel of welding rods E 18 8 Mn R 1 2 E307-16 (mod.) 1.4370 for what are used this kind of rods.

I been reading that some people having some issues with that welder ( HF) they say that they TVs/radios turn off wen they start using the welder. Do have any issues that or what do you think?

Hey Jodi. I need some help with tig torch kit. Im getting pretty frustrated trying to find answers. I've got a stubby furik gas lens and #12 cup that both fit in my torch but i cant find a collet that will fit. Do you know which kind i need to make it work?

Do you run more CFH with those types of cups?

Jody, can I purchase the tubing STAR you welded with silicon bronze so I can weld it up myself?

i would almost buy this if my everlast ever died but no pulsed mig? 45 VDC good 600 in/min good miller good 2 gas connections good doesn't look like it takes the 44 lb spool though.. does it?

Im a student learning to weld and im getting ready for my 1G Butt joint with backing cert. Any tips or tricks? I mainly struggle with my root pass as i tend to get lots of undercut.I use 7018 1/8 electrodes.
